IT IS! Especially with the newer engines. I personally wasn't a fan of the underpowered(for the A340) RR engines on earlier models. For Boeing their best looking aircraft ever made was the 757s, something about that nose just makes her look amazing.

I'm surprised they didn't try and shoot for somewhere with a dry runway but I can't fault them for executing a perfect flapless landing. Good job!
@ericklein5097 Жыл бұрын
That was my first thought. Hot landing with no flaps isn't a huge deal if you have airports around with 10,000+ foot runways. I know for logistics reasons its best to divert back to your point of origin but in this case I'm really surprised they didn't try another Northern European airport with a long, dry runway since Lufthansa operates out of so many. I don't know what their hubs are but that also might play a role in getting a a new aircraft while this one goes to maintenance. I'm going to guess Frankfurt has full maintenance facilities Guess that goes to show how confident these pilots are handling these aircraft even with a crucial system not functioning. They can take off on one engine (for twin jets), they can fly with an engine out for quite some time.....I would imagine the limiting factor in this scenario is just if the engines have reverse thrusters and how much heat the brakes can take. I'd assume emergency vehicles are there for brake fires as the primary concern. Departing the runway and going into the grass or beyond the runway would of course be worst case scenario.

I was on a virgin Australia 737-8 from Melbourne to Newcastle that landed without flaps. They didn't even announce it to us, I only noticed when I glanced out the window to see us moving a third faster than normal . I tensed up a bit, I've never heard reverse thrust that loud before .

Absolutely, I have been at Fra for only one day, so it fascinates me even more that I was able to film such a rare event. Nice to hear that you had a smooth flight with this aeroplane, would actually love to fly with this beauty one day... Absolutely, the pilots did a superb job in landing this 340 without it’s flaps during those challenging weather conditions. Thank you very much for watching!

Hehe, that are the right words. I have been at Fra for only one day, so it fascinates me even more that I was able to film such a rare event. Anyway, thank you very much for watching and your great feedback, I really appreciate your support!
