Any one else, watching in 2023, 😢 for us the 90s and late 90s kids this almost seems like a mythical lesson. Nevertheless, Indiatoday has made a great documentary ❤ with archived footage!

It's such a dark mark on Indian democracy, regardless of your politics . This is a flagrant abuse of emergency powers.

Without Emergency, what has happened for Mujib in 1975 would have happened for Indira Gandhi, as she was in the target of the CIA. In India we had a number of politicians who had links with CIA: Morarji Desai, Jag Jivan Ram, and Jayprakash Narayan. They were all involved in political agitation just before the Emergency with Jah Jivan Ram was inside the Congress Party.

Nehru-Indira-Rajiv were hardcore ARBITRATORS and ARROGANTS from inside but publicaly they appeared to nice, polite, and democratic ! What a double game players !!!

Does that mean they weren't worthy of being a leader back then?
@baldevsingh87153 жыл бұрын
@@eunicelhouvum5085 my findings are based on my own 50 years of research on them and supported by other evidences including two books written in 1977 by M O Mathai , Spl Asst to Nehru for over 14 years published by Vikas , Delhi but not allowed to be published again after Indira came back to power in 1980 due to failures of Janta Party !

They were most casteist, corrupt and communal but their good public image was painted by India's most communal and casteist MEDIA !!!

What a sight! This ruined my knowledge... I really thought they were worthy of being a great leader in India... And since people appreciated their effort.... Anyone would believe the fact that their public image seems glorious.... I'm glad to know this sooner... Thanks for letting me understand.

You don't know the real story behind the Emergency while it is a common knowledge now outside India. Ask the Indian Studies Professor in Harvard or Cambridge or Sorbonne and Moscow University. It was the time the Soviet decided to disclose the identity of a certain man and let him enter India as India did not toe the Soviet line. The old man then suddenly died of a heart attack and buried in an unmarked grave outside Lubyanka. Some opposition leader were also 'in the know' but supported Indira on the matter. Around 7 surviving INA leaders were also rounded up and disappeared.

PM hold the right to take the decision in view of Country Safety and Security and Wellness.. But it is in the wake of certain situations.. it's justified for (that time as "the best decision by them for the Time by PM), the reasons may or may not be revealed later, but in an ongoing situation, the decisions can be made with their Ministers.. It's odd to stay imbalanced in mind and question about a decision targetting a Person in a particular position of Power for a brief time or tenure..!!! The situation once passed on, the reasons can or may be asked for, and the reasons if sensitive to public exposure, may be withholded and a secrecy can be maintained. They are People elected Leaders during the time and itself answers the decisions, it's a Natural Trust in the elected leaders..!!! (Questions arise, why..? and demand answers but it may not be forced or a rule here, talking of PM and President decisions, It's a Trust in our elected leaders..) Times that were gone by in past, are useless to think about since the situations change, I mean everything literally in the world, the exact state of situation can never be recreated or will ever happen in TIME, but the nature of that situation may happen in TIME..!!! (Talking of Emergency Situation and "Operation - Blue Star" of 70's and 80's during Indira Gandhi, without any influence and a balanced thought, not anything else..)..!!!
