love this series. so good. the characters are so rich and well thought-out, the world building and Gotham is alive and you can feel it. the acting and directing is stellar. cinematography and lighting, directing, all top notch. I think this is the best comic book series ever. What concerns me is where is Vic now? Why was he not at the hideout when Oz got there? Did someone snatch him up too? You think there's a possibility that Vic becomes this version of Robin?

Early prediction. Dr. Rush & Sophia are going to use Francis' disease against Oz. By Francis knowing the truth about what happened to his brothers, she will most likely disown Oz and probably kill herself in front of him. Oz has no guilt as he has embraced it but kept it hidden from all, especially his own mother. I honestly don't see anyone else surviving this last episode other than Penguin and Sophia. I say Penguin and not Oz because after his mother dies because of his lies, he will go full-blown Penguin. Epic breakdown as always. Waited all night for this to drop. I can't believe we're at the finale. I hope they all get awards cause this show was brilliant acting, brilliant writing.

I don't think he knew at first he was killing the brothers by locking them in. But I definitely believe that as he saw the rain getting worse and the closeness he had with his mom that evening, he acknowledged it was the only way closer to his mom and let it happen.

TBF, Penguin being kind of a Momma's Boy goes back to before Crisis. Ever since his family was introduced, his father has been a deadbeat loser and his mother an ill broken woman, whom he obeyed religiously. She's literally where his manner of dress and obsession with umbrellas came from. It's just that they're usually both long dead before this point in the story

It's all the more horrible when you realize in this version, his brothers weren't cruel to him like in the comic arc, Jack was supportive of Oz as an older brother. I'm thinking this may have him try to do right by Vic, because of his guilt...until something happens that threatens Oz's survival. He'll flat leave Vic like he left his crew to get blown up. That's a possibility. if Sofia gets Oz to admit that he killed his brothers and his mother hears, she will abandon him like his girlfriend did when she found out Oz knew about the killings of her friends. This show is such a great character building vehicle

I don't think Oz is nice to Vic because of guilt of killing his brothers. I think Oz is taking Vic under his wing because he wants to be Rex Calaberese and he wants a younger person to look up to him like he looked up to Rex. Jack and Benny were competition for Oz and while him killing them was much like him killing Alberto: a knee-jerk reaction to humiliation - he made his impulsive screw up his advantage. That is who he is.

Oz got cheated out of a fight with Sal as he got cheated out of most of his life, lol. Sal's death was a surprise to me. Was expecting Oz to beat him down, and I guess in a way he did, but wow. If I could vote to give each of them an award for this series, I'd do it in a split second. Colin, Cristin, Rhenzy, definitely Clancy and Deirdre... I hope they get the best series among other awards.

This episode easily makes Oz the most hated character in the series/universe for me. In contrast Sofia seems to be the tragic hero. Sofia shows forgiveness, remorse,pain, betrayal and empathy. Best female character of any series this year. Oz has been an evil , jealous , lying , sick in the head POS ever since he was a kid. I thought his mom was to blame for how he turned out but she seemed like quite a decent caring mom when she had all 3 sons together. Oz killed his brothers aswell as his mom in a way. He also never kept his promise of giving her a good life

Honestly the scene where Oz kills his brothers shook me. Hearing them yelling for help inside that drain was painful to listen to. And when it cut back to the drain, and the screams had stopped, it hit me hard. The fact Oz obviously knew what was going to happen to them as well, and even went as far as to make their place of death his base of operations made it all the more impactful.

Also I think that's an IBM PC Jr, which was a 84-85 model which would fit the timeline, it would be old but around in 88-89. I think they dressed the front to hide the actual model slightly.

The thing is Sofia doesnt really care about Gia (in my opinion) she cares about not becoming her father and seeing that she has become just like him is what sets her off and also I believe is the purpose of Francis calling her out on her whole "rebelling against her dad" thing. Now I believe after realising shes too far gone in the cycle she'll fully embrace essentially being another Carmine Falcone and that'll make her so much more dangerous going into episode 8.

My guess is that Sophia did manage to uncover what Oz did by piecing together what his mother remembered, and she's going to make Oz confess all of it to his mom to break her mind and heart, and then he'll have to follow through with his promise to kill her (I'll explain futher below) We know that along with the dream of becoming top gangster in gotham who is loved and fear by his people, Oz loves is his mom and would do anything to fullfill his promises to her. As far as I know, the two he made was that he'd give her the life she deserves, but also end her life if her mind goes. If Sophia had that information she'd know exactly how to break him; which would be to reveal what he had done to his brothers breaking her heart and ruining the love she has for him, potentially breaking her mind and putting her into a state where Oz would have to fullful the promise he doesn't want to, and forcing him to break the promise he made to her wen he was a kid. All of that suffering she'd witness, and then she'd kill him.. or that's how she'd like it to go Can't forget about Victor and the deal Oz made with all the other head gangsters. They're gonna come through at the last minute and save Oz. Can't prdict the whole episode, but my guess will be that the climax might be that Oz rolls up to the theatre/Bar, his mom is on the dance floor and Sophia and her goons will be on the stage and surrounding area, Sophia has her little monologue and tells Oz to dance with his mother and tell her everything about what he did to his brothers, whole emotional scene, Oz's mom breaks down completely and loses it, Sophia pushes Oz to kill her, he does or Sophia does and Oz holds her as he dies, Sophia is about to kill Oz but then the squad pull up, you get it.

I love this show. Sophia is an awesome character, I hope she survives and I hope they do a season 2 after the next The Batman movie. The Batman movie was my favorite Batman movie so far!

I mentioned this to friends (mainly my wife lol) that The Penguin was the Batman-Archetype in this series where as Sofia Gigante became the Joker-Archetype. You can even juxtapose how Bruce and Oz both have “traumatic” and defining childhood experiences that leaves them with toxic parental issues. Sofia and The Joker both are pretty much too far gone but when you have them explain their definition for existing (best explanation for the joker was Heath Ledger’s monologue upside down) you sort of totally understand their mindset. Down to how they through direct action impact those around them like a domino effect.

The Rob Base song playing in the streets, dates the flashback scene to as far back as 1988... As for his mother's' fate, (outside of the obvious tragedy of it all) I think that it would also be an even deeper "tragedy" if he is he one that kills his mom, because with as much as he talks about family, he would be the one responsible for killing his family. Just great writing on this show!

@@calm1047 I did go back and rewatch the scene just before posting my comment. He does not yell “Get Out” but rather just sort of loudly says “Ahh!” That’s why his men remain behind. Try turning on Closed Captions and you’ll see this is the case.

Often, in the comics, the Penguin is presented as an element of the criminal underworld that Batman tolerates because he is a useful informant and doesn't cross certain lines. It appears that will be the case here, too. One would rather have Oswald running things than Joker or even the Falcones. The Riddler had no lines,. Certainly Joker won't, either.

They freaking NAILED this series and right when I think they've outdone themselves BOOM you get this episode 7! Everything from the plot, DC comic easter eggs, the superb acting and how every episode leaves you with anticipation for the next one. The Tarantino esque, back and forth in present and past day is phenomenal. I have to specifically applaud Cristin Millioti on her role as Sofia Falcone, she is absolutely spectacular 👌. I knew this series would be interesting just by the cast and The Penguin story alone, but it's above and beyond what I could ever have expected. If you haven't started this series yet do it YESTERDAY!! With all this said, I feel like the next few episodes are going to blow the door off the hinges completely. I'll get slack for this but in all honesty I put this series up with The Wire and The Sopranos. Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, Collin Farrel, Craig Zobel, Lauren LeFranc etc have literally created a Monster Masterpiece. 🎨 🎥

Some extra thoughts that may or may not be accurate. 1. The dress Francis wears when she takes young Oswald dancing is the same dress she wears later (can't remember which episode). 2. Monroe's could be a reference to Marilyn Monroe, but more likely a reference to another Gotham underworld character whose name escapes me at present. 3. Technically, Oswald didn't murder his brothers, although a state prosecutor might argue otherwise. More like depraved indifference, or maybe a lesser murder charge. 4. When Oswald is looking out the window for his brothers during the rainstorm, I think he's more worried that they might actually return. Because, you know, pissed-off brothers. 5. If you look at a side-by-side still of Gia's room and Sofia's Arkham room, it appears they are the same set. Check the ribbing on the walls. 6. Not only did Michael Keaton star in 1988's Beetlejuice and 1989's Batman, Tim Burton also directed those two films. 7. In the Rex Calabrese scene, you'll notice his chariot is parked directly next to a fire hydrant, which nobody seems to care about. 8. A lot of viewers want to see Batman show up before series end. However, if that happens at all, it shouldn't be before Oswald finally puts on an actual top hat to complete his Penguin persona. 9. Does that bomb explosion also wipe out all the Bliss mushrooms? If so, then Penguin has to develop an entirely new game. 10. If Penguin does kill Sofia, then maybe (?) he takes over her house. Sure... it's no "penthouse", but with a little reno work it could fill the bill for Francis.

I wish Matt Reeves hadn't changed the Cobblepot backstory. Like the comics he should've made the Arkham, Wayne and Cobblepot trio to be the founding families of Gotham; perhaps the Cobblepots could've had a fall from grace incident to make Penguin/Oswald's story be rags to riches story. I also hated that Bruce didn't travel the world to learn every type of Martial Arts, instead it's just Alfred who trains him ☹️ but it was just from a single line of the movie that i make this assumption from ("All i could do was teach you how to fight"). But then again, Alfred could've just been one of the many, especially considering it seems to be that it was a boy and teenager Bruce that he taught; so there's still time for Bruce to travel.

Hey now, D.A.R.E. totally worked on me for the most part. I didn't even try green until I was 17. Even then, I kinda felt like I was letting McGruff the Crime Dog down 🤣🤣🤣. I was a bit of a 'goody two-shoes'. I loathed being in 'trouble' and did my absolute best to avoid it. The second I saw Os shut that streel door on his brothers, I knew what was going to happen. Poor Gia 😞. I can't help but think Sophia feels bad for Os' mom. I think she caught on real quick to what happened to her other sons, Os' brother. I found it quite fitting the bomb dropped his skeevy self into the same place he ended his brothers.

Watching the penguin kid, I couldn't help thinking about the Kingpin kid, not sure which one is more messed up than the other. I think Penguin is way worse - he killed his brothers out of jealousy, while Kingpin killed his dad to protect his mother.
