I read a good review of the show in ' The Guardian ', It was on Soho, so thought I'd take a look at the first episode .... .Wow .. just loved it . That said, I asked my partner ' Where the hell is Colin Farrell ' ? , she said ' He's the Penguin ' Had to look it up Wikipedia before I believed it !! Still haven't lived that down 😂

When I watch this show, probably the first time since I was a child, I feel like I’m watching these characters’ lives. I still can’t believe he’s is Penguin. At no time does it look or feel, “Oh, that’s Colin Farrell under prosthetics”. That’s not Colin Farrell, that’s an entire other person on screen. AND somehow Cristin was able to make you feel that she’s the real “hero” of the story so far. I want her to “win” their turf war. Even the kid playing Vic, how his stutter comes in and out when he’s nervous, afraid or confident. He plays it perfectly. Best crafted show on tv. It’s an absolute clinic on storytelling and character building.

I think Colin has done a FANTASTIC job thus far in playing this character. It has certainly put him in an entirely new category as an actor. I'll be shocked if he doesn't get an award for playing this part. And the rest of this cast is excellent as well. Cristin is also fantastic in this role as The Hangman. I haven't been this excited about a TV series since The Soprano's. And that's probably because their are many similar aspects between the two shows.

The makeup artist is awesome! A quick comparison: When they introduced Killa in John Wick 4, it took a minute, but I figured the actor was wearing special effects makeup. You have plenty to choose: Hugo Strange, Dr Pyg, Hush, Black Mask, The ventriloquist, Great White Shark, Calendar Man, Firefly, Mr Szaz, The ratcatcher and this is just out of high level (but not with superpowers) criminals. Then we have the likes of Poison Ivy and R`has al ghul who easily could be transformed into a grounded character because their ecological pathos. Im Happy that Matt Reeves with team sees this and unlocking this potential.
