I think it is going to be for either Arnold or ford himself. Maybe he let his body dies so he can resurrect in another body. Bernard was a double spy that went and steal the human core for Ford to be able to live in another body. I love this show

This episode was one of the best I’ve seen. Beautiful cinematography and the writing helped build up the storyline so well!

Matthew Cossette I said the same thing. It started out a little too convoluted and I was like "please don't tell me this show is believing it's own hype and mashing everything up for the sake of it and some big reveal in the finale..." but just like u said, they kept building and building and building and it got better and better and better, and I told my girl, who is sick and fell asleep about halfway thru the episode, that she missed one of the best episodes of the entire season..by the last 15 min or so (which the episode went over by about 15 minutes), I was on the edge of my seat and just had a newfound excitement for the series all over again, like after I watched the premier episode, season 1 ep1..

Yeh this season had so many good things and pay offs. Elsey, introducing this Delos thing, when William kinda snapped, Williams kid. Like you said it kept building and building and then answering something and build and build. Also how Bernard is viewing his story is kinda like a hey we get you audience this shit is confusing. And that's how we view the story/time. Also William having a little bit of good in him. And how this season keeps building up to what we believe to be the end point of all the hosts in the lake. FUCK THIS SHOW IS GREAT.

@BanksyMane6 жыл бұрын
Yup this episode was brilliant and it shows just how important William's role is! I think the final game Ford created for William was made to get him to become more human and compassionate once again, like he was when he 1st visited the park. This is why Ford tells him that to get to the end, he must go back to the beginning and that if he's looking forward then he's looking in the wrong direction. William believes that the park was like a mirror showing him who he truly was deep down, which was dark, but I think Ford wants him to realize that who he was when he 1st entered the park was actually the real him and that perhaps the park corrupted him. I also think that the "Secret Hybrid Core" might actually be a version of young William's consciousness before he became the dark person that he is now and that caring & compassionate version of William might be they key to healing all the corruption that the park and it's technology have caused. William is the owner of the company after all, so if anyone has the power to right all its wrongs, it's him. If this does happen and William does complete Ford's game, I believe we'll see him donning his white hat once again.
@iamthebatman65576 жыл бұрын
nokturnal02 the thing is though we don't know who created this memory core is it William, Ford, Bernard (not in control of Ford while he was alive) or Jim (head of Delos), and who would they wanna recreate William could be creating anyone. Bernard could be creating the original Arnold, ford could be doing the same or creating himself again. Or Jim could be recreating Logan. Is this part of Fords plan or is it much bigger than that. Who knows? There's so many questions with this episode.

Actually, William said it wasn't like an organ rejecting the body, it was more like the mind rejecting reality, like the mind rejecting itself. I took it as the mind knows when it's supposed to die, and doesn't allow itself to continue beyond its own existence. However, the thing I find strange is the new tech outside of the room exlames, "i don't understand, he was stable." And he did seem stable until he drank whatever old William gave him to drink.
@jakehawthornhawks6 жыл бұрын
When we are truly 'dead' it's because our mind is dead, not our body. So I too saw it as a sign that the mind, through millions of years of evolution, knows when its time to end. The form of consciousness in the hybrid body will never accept the idea of living beyond it's capabilities and even if you 'upgrade to body' the 'engine can't last forever'
@DrewLSsix6 жыл бұрын
JakeSnake. No, thats just some silly moralizing. The mind may well be rejecting to psychological horror if its new existance, but the idea that the mind "knows when its supposed to die" is ridiculous.
@Mimine56876 жыл бұрын
Actually, if i remember correctly, Delos was stable until William told him about his daughter and that she killed herself. I think, he somewhat accepted the fact he got back to life in a host body, but didn't accept the fact that he outlived his daughter... That level of shock wasn't compatible with this body. But, in the end, he overcame that state. When we see Bernard entering Delos' room, he seems fine physically speaking, but I think he became violent because he's angry with William and wants revenge.
@joy2000cyber6 жыл бұрын
Guess the technology has matured but William doesn't want James to live
@BanksyMane6 жыл бұрын
Lo gusmith - Yup, I think the technology was working and Delos actually was stable, but William had come to the realization that Delos wasn't a person worthy of living forever, so he intentionally gave him all that traumatic information knowing that it would de-stabilize Delos' psyche.

I don't believe Ford is trying to bring Arnold back. I think it could be for himself after all the Puppet Master love to pull strings even in death he still there pulling people and host strings.
@kthom1146 жыл бұрын
I was thinking that too! Not sure if since this is pre-revolt, Ford made a copy of himself to be shot by dolores in front of everyone (no one would check to see if he was a host), or he took the bullet knowing some stronger, un-aging form of himself would live on.
@alannewbury78336 жыл бұрын
Ford is surely still alive having created an immortal of himself
@Terrahpin6 жыл бұрын
If that's fords copy why send Bernard to trash the lab. It's a Delos lab and ford is completely against humans living forever
@kthom1146 жыл бұрын
that's why i'm leaning more towards a copy being shot. He won't live forever, but he had bernard make what he needed (and he clearly isn't against making host versions of himself and his family) before destroying what delos was working on. ford wouldn't be incriminated for any plotting, because he had bernard do everything including committing suicide, thereby eliminating an accomplice and witness.
@mooreep7916 жыл бұрын
I think Ford secretly made a copy of himself in the lab, and waited until the mind glitch was mostly fixed, and then perfected it himself. I believe the human Ford killed himself using Delores, but he put his consciousness inside of the copy so he could live forever. I think in a previous episode he describes the hosts as a more perfect version of humans. And the whole revolt was just a smokescreen for host Ford to escape.

This was possibly the best episode in the series for me. So cinematic, had a beginning/middle/end centered around Delos' unsettling character arc, the visual framing/ composition of scenes was amazing, the purposeful use of music, the detailed art direction, etc. This episode really competes with the best of sci-fi television and movies. Charlie, I have an answer for your question. The other human host hybrid is in fact ford himself! Once he perfected the "Mind transfer" process he then set the revolt arc into motion! One thing that I don't understand is, if the Memory Core is the problem. Why would they keep burning the Delos host body?? Why not simply remove the memory core and replace it with another...sorry that's the technical side of me.
@sanfranscent6 жыл бұрын
I wondered the same thing, too. Why torch Delos and the whole room with all its contents (seems so wasteful)? Did they need to sterilize it in some way from any contaminants? Hmm
@wilsonpd646 жыл бұрын
I thought possibly to eliminate anything that possibility corrupted the process. But it also provides a certain, "deal with the devil and hell" imagery that can't be ignored.
@alisonjohnston31076 жыл бұрын
Reggy2000 I think it goes back to what William said about his “mind rejecting the reality”. Even through the glitching, Delos consciousness Is still there trying to fight through. He was pissed as hell at Old William while he was learning the news of his family but his body wouldn’t allow him to fully express or react to what he was hearing. My guess is that the biggest issue is connecting the consciousness with the host body and that’s why they needed to scratch the body and start new. Not sure why they would burn the whole room though..
@TangoNevada6 жыл бұрын
Reggy2000 They burned him each time so using the song "Play with fire" would seem more significant and relevant. In reality it would be much easier to disable him and start over, rather than torch an entire room, clean it out, get rid of the fire smell (Which takes forever, I had a fire) and rebuild everything and start over. It was for cinematic purposes only.

Great video and point of view, thank you!. Couple of things, the line was actual “you owe the devil...” opposed to “at least....” you can imagine all the implications of owing the devil from there. James Delos is a good one to give this advise or warning, being a unscrupulous man himself. Bernard’s flashback of him squashing the human lab workers head in the lab is exactly what it shows, Bernard the host or synthetic human squashing the real thing. I’m not sold on the fact that Ford ordered them all killed as you said. Finally (this is purely my opinion) Ghost Nation is literally Ford in some way or carrying out Fords commands. They are actually protecting the humans, and they are the only hosts Maeve could not control so far. They rounded up people but only killed the hosts. They met the man in blacks daughter on the shoreline after her tangle with the tiger, but didn’t harm her and easily let her escape. We know they don’t kill the head security guy ( as you pointed ) because we see him in what we believe to be a later timeline. And there is that line said in perfect English so the same guy by the head of ghost nation about “you only live as long....”. If they are the representative of good guys, it would be an awesome nod to the American Indians being the good guys, while they have been portrayed as the devils in past history of the old west by white folks. Google “mystery of the Sphinx”. The 3 phases of man fits nicely.

1. James Delos was also peddling backwards when they got to him after he was all glitched and abandoned. 2. The daughter also looked like Delores in the reveal. Maybe a bizarre foreshadow? 3. Is it possible that the daughter is a regenerated human already. Otherwise it means she and man in Black exited reality and live in the game full time after his wife commutes suicide. 4. What about the previous episodes ideas that they were copying human guest dna and tracking them... is it for marketing or to eventually make everyone immortal. .... see Netflix “Altered Cabon” Thanks for everything Charlie.

Originally in the second Westworld movie back in the day. The idea of the hosts was that they would gather DNA etc. from the visitors - who were all rich influential people to afford Westworld/x-worlds (they had multiple fantasy trip area's) and then replace the real humans with hosts loyal to the company and then gain access to their wealth and influence that way. But now it seems to be mainly about extending one's life in this take.

Jason Gray I think the ball that’s printed is Arnold. And eventually, Bernard and Arnold’s experiences and codes will be combined in a new body. So Arnold “awakes” from the dead to see the new world of conscious hosts that he always wanted. Maybe it is a combination of human and host that will create the new race, in opposition to what Dolores thinks.

I think the core he took was Ford and Bernard already has the hybrid Arnold core in him. That’s why he’s glitching. He’s getting passed that plateau effect Delos was having. B.B. the end of the season he’Ll say, “I’m Arnold.”
@singadude19836 жыл бұрын
I think Bernard is glitching because he was forced to shoot himself in the head by Ford That's why he's leaking cortical fluid from his ear. Felix fixes his external injury but says "The bullet grazed his cortical shield... it's not pretty, but he's functional." As soon as Bernard wakes, he is having trouble telling what time period he is in. Also, the control tablet that both Felix and Elsie use to interface with Bernard shows that his system is the same as the other hosts, and not a hybrid.

Awesome video as always charlie. Do you think we will ever see Ford in a new body ?( probably played by another actor since the show creators have said that Anthony Hopkins won't return propoby but this is not the last time we see Ford.). Since Delos is trying to transfer the mind to a host body but the it failing since they haven't fully cracked the code to. So they need Abernaty since he is the last piece of the puzzle to complete their plan. But what if Ford already cracked the code and when we see him talk trough the other host it is not just a ghost of him but his actually managed to digitize his mind and send the trough the mesh network that the host uses.Since the Door narrative was made for William and what I assume Ford want him to evolve to become a better version of him. In Fords final speach in season 1 he talked about on how someone paid attention to his stories since the park opened and that someone is William. He is on the side of the hosts after all and Ford want William to evolve to change perhaps to go back the way he was to become a better man then he is now and Ford respects William I think even though they don't fully see eye to eye. Not only that secret cloning think or the weapon Delores calls it his greatest mistake said by William.. So perhaps at the end William will to become a host in his young host body and he Will take the mantle from Ford helping the host make a new world a better world. We do Bernard take the orb perhaps it has something to do with transferring it to the host body. I think it was Ford who send Bernard to that secret lab.

Waited up for this. Was getting close to the fence on this show... but they are starting to streamline the plot points.

They paid of some of the bigger plot details, mostly William's secret James Delos plan and how that also explains what Charlotte has been doing.

I must add that this is Lisa Joy's directorial debut. BOY, WHAT A DEBUT!!! One of the best episodes of Westworld. The photography was stunning, the writing was impeccable and the way they're tying stories up is impressive. I can't stop thinking about it.

I loved the play on Delos’ toast, “if you aim to cheat the devil, you owe him an offering”. Reminded me of the old cowboy Ford would visit in the cold storage Host level. “Shall we drink to the lady in the white shoes?”

What if the Bernard we see in present timeline (the beach, hanging out with Stubbs and QAs) was actually Arnorld?!

then it would be a little weird that he response to Bernard when they address him. If he actually was a clone of Arnold.

I really liked the tiny detail of Lawrence remembering that the MIB saying he had a daughter and the MIB was surprised because it used to be that the hosts never picked up details like that.

IS that what really killed him or was it an Overdose of the Park? He was last seen naked on a horse, hands tied and riding into the wilderness.
@karinaescalona51436 жыл бұрын
That's not true. He was actually seen a few years after the events in the park, during James Delos's retirement party. He was shooting up when Dolores walked in on him.

Westworld..... Prediction Charlotte is Maeve's daughter.. And not just because they're only two black women on the show.. (lol.) The two have never shared the screen together.. .. it's going to come forward that Charlotte used to be a child actor in earlier versions of the park or at least for that commercial they ran which is also part of Maeve original storyline/memory..

The thing I loved about this series is that it sets up a mystery and resolves it within 1 or 2 episodes and still managed to deliver a giant plot twist at the end of the season. I totally called the grace is Williams daughter last week :)

This episode was so good! I say the memory core is Arnold or Ford. I love how they related Bernard’s experiences to how we also see the multiple time lines. Lost had a rhythm to its Flashbacks/flashforwards. This show’s timeline keeps you focused without so much as an audible cue!

this was definitely a 10/10 episode really. I loved how ford mentioned that Chopin lives in his music just like ford lives in every of the hosts he created and reprogrammed that William is still able to speak to him and play his game. and also have you noticed William face every time he goes out from host Dalos? he looks sad just if he had an affection for an old man both in the past and the future. maybe thats why he decided to stop the experiment, seeing that nothing works was painful to him, just maybe

I love that MIB's daughter would want to make sure the man she was sleeping with in the Raj episode was really a human, as if to avoid the pain of falling in love with a robot like her father did (which probably ruined the family's life).

maybe Delos was not the point but the tech was. Delos was initially reluctant to put his money into the park but William managed to convince him probably with the prospect of a technology to replicate people, which is also a way to "survive" cancer. The technology became reliable only after the park had proven a success -- that is after Delos death -- so William had realized bringing Delos back could be too much of a disruptance and left him as a guinea pig.

It’s so interesting how the focus of our questions from season 1 have shifted so drastically into this seasons questions even tho those past questions haven’t been answered. It’s almost as if it’s pointless stuff not relevant to the storyline. Or maybe the most pointful thing, so it’s least to expect

Hey Charlie, I noticed the piano piece they played in the secret lab had a Stanley Kubrick feel, the film that comes to mind was "Eyes Wide Shut”. Remember when Tom Cruse walks into the large room and is confronted by the mob...then the piano starts to play in the back ground. Anyway keep up the great work!

She took it amazingly well then. I would have expected complete shock and disbelief from her, or even her wondering if that were the "real" Bernard.. He was her boss and they worked quite closely together for a long time. Learning something like that can't be a small thing. The only surprise I saw on her part was her assessing the amount of damage that he had sustained, not that he was a host.

The "Bernard" waking up on the beach is Arnold. It would explain a lot of things: him not wearing glasses (because he got a new body), his weird movements (trying to cope with reality), he said he is responsible for killing all the hosts in the water etc.
