Hey charlie, I have a theory. We all know that Robert Ford it`s like a God in Westworld, and he has or had, not so sure, a giant ego. Egocentric people don't let themself be killed or comit suicide. So I believe that Robert somehow transfered his consciousness to the mainframe's park, or between all hosts. I know that he could program hosts that contact William somehow to say to him that he needs to play alone, but, wouldn't be awesome, if he (Robert) Could see him (Willian) through hosts' eyes. And I'm just saying that, because there are several Robert's reverences as God in Season one. He is already a creator, He could do everything in the park obey him and if his consciousness is in the park or between hosts, he literally know and sees everything, Just like God. Omniscience, omnipresence, omnipotence! With Delos collecting data and DNA, plus James Delos Sickness, I strongly believe that their are in the verge of transfer mind to Synthetic bodies. Sell immortality for those who can afford, looks like a better business than mining data for marketing purposes. What Do you think? I think it’s about immortality. Argos discovered the fountain of youth and now Delos wants in. James is dying so he wants himself downloaded into a host so he will live forever. I believe it happened and that he is actually inside Abernathy. William imprisons him there. James Delos as Abernathy is on the ranch with guess who as his daughter? This is also why Abernathy snaps when he sees his real life daughter’s picture in episode one. This is why Delos/Abernathy is so important to get out of the park. They know this so they are holding the board under William hostage until the Abernathy host is delivered safely. I also believe that Ford made his own avatar and Bernard copied his consciousness into it. Therefore Ford is alive and actively playing the game with William, but probably not in his old body. The place that William built is a facility that houses the new and improved version of the host. The hosts that will be programmed with people that paid a hefty fee for immortality. This is a weapon of Delores if she gets there first. She will have her army when all these bodies are reprogrammed. Just my thoughts everyone!

Is it just me or did it look like Delores was reacting/listening in the past scenes when she wasn't supposed to be; already displaying freewill defects. For example at the park when she's supposed to be frozen while Will is making his sales pitch. As they walk off, the camera goes back to her face & her expression has changed (from happy to see Teddy to upset at what Will said).

The secret weapon is the giant strip mining machine. Dolores uses it to rip down the boundaries between the parks. That's how the tiger gets into Westworld, and how the valley is flooded. Bernarnold accidentally drowns hosts by telling them to muster in the valley, not knowing it will be flooded. The endgame is for Dolores to lead an army into the real world, but she and Maeve are going to work their way through all the parks first, and so is William, who upon finding the door, is going to be led to the next park, just like his predecessor in the film.

Right. There are many Biblical analogies this season, such as the Confederados cosplaying the Last Supper before Dolores kills and resurrects them. The floating hosts (I'm not going to say dead. We've seen hosts bathing before, and they don't need air) are probably an analogy to Romans being drowned by Moses as the Red-sea floods around them.

6:38 - I doubt getting client data to better sell products would offset the costs. My reading of this is that having found out people inner desires and demons that Delos is able to blackmail their ultra-rich influential clients. The scene in S02E01 about collecting clients DNA of course opened up possibility of replacing clients with impersonating robots in the real world (similar to The Stepford Wives) with an outer organic layer genetically matching the original humans and thus able to pass any genetic ID testing.

That's the same page I'm on. I don't think marketing data would justify buying such a large, bleeding company - Specially when you consider that you'd be mining info on a very, very small percentage of the population that probably doesn't need much reason to buy anything at any given time - It's a little naive. On the other hand, you have the wealthiest and most powerful people on earth visiting your park thinking that no one's monitoring or recording any of the depravities, deviant or sadistic fantasies they may be inclined to experience. Just like that, Delos has leverage over politicians, CEOs and anyone they consider relevant.

Yea I totally agree with you. It’s much deeper than just data mining for advertising purposes. They’re copying people’s DNA, behaviors and interactions in order to upload a completely identical human consciousness into host bodies. For what purpose exactly we don’t know yet. But there’s already proof that they have done this with Arnold/Bernard. That’s why Jim Delos was in such a hurry for the park to develop the technology- because he was dying and he wanted to be around to see his niece grow up, or at least he wanted her to have that experience of having a grandfather around. William also alluded to this in his conversation about the park holding a mirror up to the guests face. “You wanna know who likes seeing their reflection in a mirror?”- He asked Delores.... “Everyone”. Logan also alluded to this when he was talking to Delores at the party. Saying “that’s the sound of fools fiddling and the end of the human race as we know it. The funniest part of all is they lit the match”

Bernard is actually worried (it seems) of his continued existence if Delos found out that he was an AI, we as most others seem to know that if they die, they can be resurrected. Again SEEM. Thinking of which, Maeve, can do whatever she wants cause she has the controls, Dolores does not.

There is a fine line between them having all their memories and them being "free". Which i believe *only* Maeve has crossed. Dolores, in my opinion, has to be following a much grander plan of Ford's. A revenge plot against Delos sounds about right. Since they're true plans for the park seem to be quite sinister unlike Ford & Arnold simply wanting to evolve humanity. There seems to be quite a theme of showcasing the true evil nature of humans and how imperfect we really are. From the perspective of people like Ford, Arnold and even William. However, Arnold & Ford seem to want the hosts to takeover and become the superior species, whereas young William secretly probably wants humanity to burn itself alive. Since he realized how dark and barbaric human nature can be, from last season. Maybe he wanted to expose this or cleanse it. He seemed too intrigued in waking them up and having real stakes for being with them.

Here are a few questions that have been bugging me about the show (I love the show btw. These things just keep me up at night thinking about it ha): 1) If Arnold was the co-founder of the park, how does Bernard (a host created in Arnold's precise image) get away with working at the park in an upper management position? Did nobody from Delos ever meet him? Was there not a single employee from before he died that stuck around? And how do you explain that he NEVER leaves the park? This makes me think there is more to the Arnold story to tell. Unless its just a poorly thought out plot device and I'm overthinking it. 2) Could the rebellion still be scripted? We see in the case of maeve during her whole escape plan that the whole thing was scripted into her by a very high level account (assumed to be Ford) but its speculated as to whether or not her decision to stay was scripted or not. It seems more likely it was since what use would Ford had foreseen from her leaving the park? Unless it was a way he designed for her to achieve true free will but damn, the foresight youd need to KNOW that would work. Also in this new season, Sizemore on numerous occasions points out that he wrote their dialogue or correctly predicts what they will say next so while he does seem surprised at their choices it seems to imply a hacked up narrative using existing scripts and not true free will even for those like Maeve who are the most "woke". Also, Ford said he designed this game for William. The unpredictability of truly free hosts wouldn't really allow Ford to direct William in any way. Unless he merely "woke up" a few hosts while the rest remain generally the same but even still. How do you predict their actions to a high degree of certainty in order to develop a narrative around it for William to play his game? His seemingly god like clarity may just be another necessary plot device that cant adequately hold up to too much scrutiny. To stay entertaining and mysterious, they do have to take some creative liberties I suppose. 3) Why is the maze from season 1 tattooed on the inside of every ghost nation host? And why have they seemingly always been immune to voice commands? If Arnold created the maze, did he put that "map" inside their skin? If so, to what end? Seems like a really superficial detail considering the symbol is seen just drawn on things too. And why show it again this season? Especially considering the ghost tribe have had practically no exposure on the show so is there more to the maze than Ford let on or was it just a plot device to make the journey of MIB in season 1 seem more interesting? And again, why immune to voice commands especially if they actually had guest interactions before the incident? Like Maeve couldn't even control them and she can exploit hosts directly through their neural network. Also, if you look at the root lore of the maze as explained in season 1 they talk about a Legendary man that could be killed over and over but always crawled back to life until one day he came back one last time to vanquish all his oppressors and then built a maze around himself so complex only he could navigate it. Is this just an allegory or is it rooted in some kind of history of the park? If its rooted in any history, who could the legendary man have been? Could it have been Arnold and there is more to his story or perhaps its prophetic and could be referring to William even? Maybe hes not quite what he seems. (We haven't technically seen the old him ever leave the park soo...just saying) 4) If there are all these different parks, why are the founders and Delos seemingly infatuated with Westworld and why are most of the mysteries about the true nature of the park contained to Westworld as well? Is it the most profitable or is it just cus it was their first one? Seems like if Delos was truly trying to hide things from Ford and Arnold, theyd choose to do it on any of the other parks which they seem to completely ignore. Could it be just cus the westworld park has the most data in reference to the IP and tech? 5) Why did Arnold think killing himself would stop the park from opening? Especially since he merely programmed Delores to kill him. She didnt actually choose to kill him on her own. He should have known Ford and any of the other techs would catch this. It would have made more sense to do it the way Ford ultimately did it. If Arnold truly believed their potential then why cheat it like he did and not wait until he felt Dolores was truly ready? Did he think his death was a necessary catalyst for her to get there? This makes me think there is far more to the story of Arnold and Delores than they let on. 6) If the "weapon" is merely a data bank then how is that really a weapon at all? Dolores and William are both fighting and killing just to get to a server stack that might embarrass some rich execs or maybe ruin some careers. I dont see that as the glory or the weapon Dolores describes it as (and she has seen it). The fact they were logging experiences AND extracting guest DNA from the hosts must mean there is something far more sinister going on. It must be something far more tangible and valuable to the real world to be used as a weapon. Unless its just a weapon against William to exploit him into getting them out of the park and onto their next objective. Judging by the new cast that signed on this year and the end of episode 3, it looks like the adjacent samurai world will be playing a big role in the latter half of the season so perhaps William's creation has had an impact on that park as well and their hosts may have more insight. As well as the guest from the hunting expedition world. I cant wait to see how her interaction with the ghost nation goes.

In episode 1, from the conversation between the investigator and Chinese military guy, we knew the Westworld was probably built on Chinese territory by Delos. This episode we see Chinese store sign and Asian city stereotype. So we could come to a conclusion that Arnald's house is in China

Watch the full episode again, from 03:14 to 03:45, there are more Chinese extras than the entire S1 and S2 put together, nothing is by accident with Nolan and Joy. Then Arnold says "Am moving my family here, I need to have my two worlds at least within reach of one another". Plus if you correlate what was said in Episode 1 between the Chinese marines and the Delos ops at the rally point (beach scene). You'd come to the conclusion Arnold and Ford made the pitch to Delos while in China.

13:09 I believe you missed a vital clue as to dolores intentions. "It's not a place, it's a weapon" She's refering to the gigantic earth movers that dug out the mountain ranges in that picture! She will use those earth movers to take on the 800+ humans at the rally point IMO. Hence the repeat of the phrase "Have you ever seen anything so full of splendor" Said multiple times during the episode and most importantly during the scene when william showed her the gigantic earth movers. Dolores also mentioned right at the end of the episode, an old friend (William) was foolish enough to show me long ago. and it's not a place it's a weapon, she's talking about the gigantic earth movers is my guess. Good review, Charlie. Three comments. 1. From episode 1, I now see the intent of the player piano song "The Entaertainer" as used in "The Sting". The parks' purpose was entertainment as a misdirect to the true data mining activity. 2. Seeing those large earth moving mining machines also lended to that true purpose. 3. The "weapon" will be all that data - something the hosts could use to perform "identity theft" and/or assume new identites - just like Westworld II?

After watching this episode and reflecting, I find myself confused about how/why Logan was ousted. Like I can't imagine getting drunk and riding a horse naked through Westworld is even on the top 20 list of weirdest stuff done in the park. Also, shouldn't anything that happen in the park "technically" not be made public? How would the media catch wind of Logan's debauchery to humiliate him? Just seems weird now that I think about it.

I didn’t immediately think FB, though I did think similar... When young William mentioned that people are their true self in the park, and Delos could benefit from that I saw it more as a way for Delos to record and hold blackmail information about important figures. We’ve seen that Delos had the ability to view what was occurring at any area of the park w any host at anytime in season 1, wouldn’t be crazy to think they could also track their guests and what their guest were doing on their visit. You also think back to the time w young William and Logan in their first visit. Logan was making mention of some of the Delos business to William. You think of that at a grander scale, and add the FB portion to it - it’s not crazy to think that Delos is in the business of blackmailing people for profit gain. In the beginning of season 2 we see they are willing to let every guest in the park die to get Abernathy, and the park was hosting an event with board members, and even current day William (who is the CEO of Delos). Oddly enough, this goes back to young William selling the park to James after the events of his first visit...as to me it seems that William prioritized the data aspect the park can bring and now his company won’t send in a rescue squad without the information in hand. The “place” (glory, valley beyond, etc) I think is either the main frame for the specific park they are in or the main frame access for all parks. It is mentioned in S1 that hosts have the implant that will self destruct if they attempt to leave. And we know Maeve has it removed. I’m thinking this “place”/“weapon” that the groups are racing towards is that access point. A place where either all those implants are globally initiated and destroys the hosts, or a place where you can globally turn off that implant or access each hosts build. We’ve only really seen hosts to be maintained or managed from the tablets in the labs. There has to be some main computer or processing center where all these hosts are controlled from. Glimpses have been given in S1: the storage units where old hosts are kept, the “HQ” with the park map. In S2 we are given glimpses of secret Delos locations in the parks that Bernard didn’t know about, like the center we see in episode 1 of this second season. So a possible larger facility at the center of the park (as they are traveling west) that stores all that collected data, stores all the host information, and is a main frame. How can Dolores use this as a weapon? Well if she knows it exists and she knows its purpose she can use it to leak that data (friggin FB man) and make it known Delos was tracking all that sort of data. This would essentially bring down Delos and the parks. As well, since she’s there, she could upload all that data to all the hosts, turn off the implant, and possibly just walk out...right? I mean, if you think of it, that’s a great weapon. Take down of a major corporation, destroying your makers in the process. And you’ve now armed your host army w real host data, turned off their implant so they can’t blow up, and they can go into the world and wreak havoc while they can still be brought back w the tablet. Sounds a bit like the plot of Dragonball Z during the Android saga lol Questions tho: last week we saw previews for Charlotte finding the Bernard room, and Maeve in Shogun World. Where was that this week?! Part of me still thinks Ford is alive. Possibly uploaded his consciousness to a host and is still pulling the strings. Possibly will be waiting in said place/weapon for either Dolores - having successfully lead the revolution of host and getting to this “great beyond”or the human world to continue evolving - or for William - to have another conversation about future and evolution. One thing is certain, I expect Bernard to be there too and be the trigger man to kill this host as the Arnold in him will have realized this is not how he wants his legacy remembered.

Just finished watching.Absolutely loved it.I have a new theory after this episode.I think that the man in black is also a host designed by Arnold and Delos boss.He used William in the real world sent him to Westworld and then terminated him and later made the Man in black adding Williams memory and conscience into his.That is going to be the biggest fucking twist in television history.

In the saloon William punched thru a wall to get a kit, which contained a tool the technicians used to repair hosts in the lab. William talked to Lawrence about "cheating" while digging a bullet out of his arm, then used the tool on his arm. Maybe William turned himself into the Man in Black?

I like this line of thinking. For sure, at the very least, they're mining customer data. Also, for sure, they're trying to transfer human consciousness into a host body - this was alluded to by the scene of Jim Delos at his retirement party who was obviously suffering from some sort of terminal condition. So let's assume they succeeded. I'm thinking the Man in Black is, in fact, a host but running the real William's consciousness (a la Jim Delos who I bet we will also see walking around). I also think Bernard is also a product of this transfer technology except he's running Arnold's consciousness.

I can't believe more people aren't talking about this. I need to re-watch it, but I swear I think the MiB just came out as a host. Unless human flesh can be repaired with the same tool that Delos uses to repair the hosts then...the MiB is a host. Think about it. When we last saw the MiB in season 1, he was in a sling with a broken arm/shoulder from his encounter with Delores. The next time we see him, supposedly the morning after, he's unearthing himself from the dead bodies that are covering him...with no injury. Oversight?

yes. He was using his left hand in season 1 ep 10 due to injury caused by Dolores and season2 ep 1 one day or so later he was moving fine except for a bullet wound that grazed his left arm.

Maybe it's just my imagination, but when William was talking to Mr. Delos about seeing what people are really like in the park, blackmail was the first thing that was brought to mind. Also: it seems to me like a more horrifying idea for the hosts like Dolores to purposefully be used as the catalysts of people's awful behavior in the park, rather than part of some advertising scheme. That just seems more like something in William's ballpark of ideas, judging from what he did to Logan.

My friends and I have a theory. The idea that we've sort of agreed upon is the idea of transplanting human consciousness into a host body. For example how Ford, through the host version of him as a child, spoke to MIB in the first episode of the season. Therefore, the idea is that the Delos board is after what is in essence immortality via robot bodies basically. Now MIB doesn't support this idea as he recognizes that there is no point to playing the game without stakes, or death. How he moved from his data mining operation to that point is yet unclear. Anyway moving on, we've gone on to say that Peter Abernathy definitely plays a role in this plan, potentially as the first attempt at this immortality, potentially by trying to get James Delos's mind into a host. However, as an early attempt there's a chance it didn't quite work, but it makes that host in particular more important, which is why in ep 1, they said they would not extract Hale and Bernard without "the package", which was revealed to be Peter Abernathy. Best guess is they still want to try to save the tech that could eventually give them the immortality they want even if they do have to burn down the rest of the park. We've also come up with ideas relating the characters to biblical figures, which is in line with the conversation between MIB and Lawrence about whether he believes in God and whether there will be judgement where MIB basically confirms that they've been datamining guests for years and that Delos is in essence casting judgement down upon the guests to a degree. But that's more for another comment. Anyway that's what we got so far. Curious to see how it all shakes out in the end.
