Waterfall piano cascading all around, and Greg's mid-stream soft acoustic guitar melody set just the right vibe for the idea that this unicorn known as love at first sight happened to two unsuspecting lovers . . . Go with the flow, I tell myself . . . get on and ride this unicorn love and take it on a wild adventure of a lifetime. Forever, as the lyrics reveal. Tis, true. This is love at first sight between me and you ❤. Did I hear a delicate xylophone in there???

My mother taught me that love only dies when you choose for it to die. She became a widow unexpectedly at 38. Never looked at another man and lived to nearly 83. I have no doubt that my father was waiting patiently for her.

I'd always rather Emerson gave credit when he repurposed other's music. If there wasn't a copyright (Ginastera, Gulda), he seemed pretty lax about it (Mussorgsky, Bartok, Janacek, Chopin, Bach, probably others).

Someone recently told me that I did not believe in love at first sight . . . how about everyone out there. What do you think? I need a little more evidence to believe in a love connection, lest the connection be confused with infatuation. ELP is convincing, however.
@merk95698 ай бұрын
Infatuation is described as the first stage in love. If you didn’t have an instant connection, usually based on sight (but possibly by another connection), then you would not have the incentive to take the next step. As a person who has fallen in love at first sight, I know it exists. It is understandable that a physical attraction must be present to lead to the next step. Love is built in stages according to the psychologists.
@shariblack41288 ай бұрын
@@merk9569 I must agree with you. Falling in love is all about passing through stages over time. Infatuation could lead to more if both individuals share more of each other over time, yes? Thank you for responding.

@merk95698 ай бұрын
I assumed that you were saying that Greg Lake wrote the lyrics to this song. When I read them, and got to the credits, I have never been so thankful to not see his name. These lyrics are not up to Greg’s standards.
@mikewest15428 жыл бұрын
Not that good syrupy, not old ELP, "Girls , oh there were girls" sounds like a corny American musical, the lyrics in this album are terrible, the musicianship of course is very good, but the whole context of this album is CRAP!
@rebeccahernandez34607 жыл бұрын
It was a album they didn't want to make, but in their contract they owed the studio one more album. Greg said, they were told if they wanted a solo career they better do it, so he said in that case they went and tried to make the best album they could. The music is beautiful on this song and Greg's vocals are as excellent as always.

This is an incredible piece that tells a wonderful story. It fits perfectly in ELP's repertoire of high-concept sci-fi, as a story of everyday people.
