Hem från Gesunda by Eric Sahlström - Scandi Folk Tune #6

Let's go on in the "nyckelharpa nerd" mood by learning Hem från Gesunda, a polska composed by Eric Sahlström, considered one of the "godfathers" of the instrument. This tune is of course absolutely playable on fiddle and other instruments too. The style is very alike the one in the region around Gesunda, which is close to Mora in Dalarna.
Note that my nyckelharpa is tuned CGDA so don't watch my fingers if yours is tuned CGCA !
Level 3 of difficulty as there's climbing on nyckelharpa, also some rhythms are a bit tricky.

The tune is called "Hem från Gesunda" because Eric wrote it on the way back home from a concert in Gesunda. Somebody else was driving (I think his son, but I'm not completely sure) while Eric was playing nyckelharpa sitting in the backseat. So "Hem från" means "Coming home from" here, not "House from". :)

Aaaaaah this adds a lot of sense to the title ! Thanks a lot for the infos. I learned the tune from Eric's daughter Sonia and, at that time, my swedish was very poor and I guess I didn't understand the whole context when she introduced the tune.

No problem, glad to add something useful! And I can completely understand about not getting everything your Swedish teachers said :) I just had a look at the booklet of "Till Eric" of the Nyckelharpsorkester. There it says that Gösta Sandström was driving and not Erics son.

Thanks a lot ! It's not a lot of history - I actually had to restrain myself, I could talk about nerdy folk music history for hours ^^ The hardest is to edit the videos actually, I am still not good at it at all and don't know how to use my programs very well - but I'm learning.
