I think i finally got convinced to buy one and swap it, been thinking about it for a while for a new project, i still can't get over the cars looks which both the aw11 and sw20 win over any day but when it comes to handling, there's no comparison and the 2zz makes it a rocket ship, thought about building an na miata too but they're just everywhere and it would cost more considering all rust repair costs and either boosting it or throwing a bunch of cash for mechanical tuning and it would still be a soft chassis with much less potential

Great video! I have a MR-S with 2zzge as well. I'm running the same MWR headers and 1zz exhaust. It seems like you changed the exhaust afterwards to free up the 2zz. Was it a noticeable improvement in top end power? Does it make you feel more kick when lift engages?

@@Michael-uy4mr I had the topspeed midpipe with stock muffler. I have since replaced the stock muffler with a custom one. Huge improvement on lift.

How did the frontal visibility compare between the Sw20 and the ZZw30? I'm currently making this decision. On auctions now with a 20k budget. Im no togue specialist and just like to gently carve scenic ridgelines at about 25-40mph, spirited driving. Sold an 04 miata 5 speed because of your channel. It was nimble, but I hated the "bumpy" hood and low windshield. it "muted" the experience.. That said, I want either a T-top Mr2 or the MR-S. I bought a hardtop for the miata (for exterior looks 100%), but I'm more of an emotional driver than a "quick lap times" driver. and part of the romance was lost when I couldn't put the top down at a moments notice. The MR-S will have that same problem because I will surely buy a hardtop for it for the exact same reasons, but will wish i could just throw the top down sometimes... But a T-top Sw20 can be spontaneous and I can throw them behind the seat just for a little open air above my head. So there's a big win there. My biggest concern other than that, is that the MR-S might have less visibility than the SW20 due to the shape of the front end? Do those big headlight bulges block the view of the road like the humps on the miata did? I feel like the Sw20 with it's more straight hood line will taper down and out of view a little better. that's sort of a "fixation" of mine. The final point is that I like how the SW20 has aerodynamic plastic underbelly panels from the factory to close up the open hole. I bet that smooths airflow a lot better than most 90s cars.. but for some reason the MR-S did not get the same development (im guessing because it was built cheaper?) and the undercarriage is exposed and turbulent looking as any other 90s car.. What's your take on this as a track guy? Even my 2018 civic has a nearly porsche-level flat floor and If i could have that for all my cars I would. It's more of an OCD satisfaction than anything though. I just imagine the SW20 would have a much smoother high speed feeling because of the flat floor the MR-S lacks. Did the aftermarket ever sell something to cover the body up with?

@@TougeTime I can't do video games because it doesn't take my height and actual pov into account lol. Also, most POV youtube reviews don't have the gopro at eye level, so every car looks like it has amazing visibility being on top of their head lol. (I was going to purchase a 2019 miata RF because the one take made it's visibility look amazing.. But in real life at the dealership... my gosh it was horrible, that giant hood made the NB2 feel like a lotus) I was hoping you'd have some perspective on the visibility since you did own both for many years of constant driving. (I don't know how tall you are but im a 5'6 asian male and maybe you're a similar height? lol idk) I live in hawaii so I have to fly out and import whichever car I decide on, making it much harder to compare them myself. They are very very rare here and most owners won't let you in their car. I sat in an Sw20 already, and it felt pretty good (never got to flip the lights up, but they're within the fender's edge so that won't matter. I just never got to sit in a ZZw30. I'm concerned if the headlight housings will make the front feel high like the miata.

@@TougeTime true, but I like being able to see more of the road beneath me than not, even right up close. Im not literally fixated on the painted line or anything lol. But it is nice to see them in your peripherals instead of a massive battleship of a hood. especially good for parking etc. (old man things). I ride motorcycles as well and they have the same mentality of extending your vision far ahead for hazards.

8lbs. That's fake news. It's the clutch that makes it hard to drive. I just have stage 1 clutch. Drives like any car. Just revs fast

This may have been asked already, but since you swapped from a 5 speed to the 6 speed c60 trans, did you have any issues with the shifter setup? Did you have to use the c60 linkage cables or modify the shift housing at all? Asking as my MR-S is currently 5 speed and have got a 2zz and 6 speed to swap in. Also what LSD did you get?
