That MR-S is a total beast. Can't beat lightweight, mid-engined car with a good suspension tune. But the AE86 looks fantastic.

I'm surprised the MR-S needed full throttle as much as it did in that chase against the AE86, it didn't go that hard against the M3, so not all is over for the AE86 I suppose. But I wonder how the MR-S would do without the wing!

changing the balance of brake of MRS is amazing from 25.6 to 25.1 is unbelievable kudos to kumakura san for making an amazing mrs + orido san amazing driving style ❤

4:45 you see the drift king (Tsuchiya) use the gutter run trick from Initial D. Watch his front right tire when you ride inside the MR-S. So cool to see in real life.

The Karussell at the nurburgring was made because drivers started using a drainage ditch by the side of the track to grab their tires like that, so they decided to pave the edge of the track how it is.

Maybe after the engine swap. The fact that they sell for 7-9k for a shitty mr2 turns me off. And the fact that Toyota didn't respect the platform enough to offer one with a 2zz is sad. So you can spend 7k or 9k for a car with a sohc economy engine. Spend another 3k for a 2zzge swap. Then you can start tuning. Or you can spend 5k-7k for a sw20 na to turbo swapped car and have a much faster raw-er sports car that albeit may not handleas well, but can be made to handle just as well. Or spend the 10k-14k for an original mr2 if you really care that much about it being original. If you really only care about the cornering, the aw11 is really good too, and a lot cheaper with the easily tunable widely available 4age.

That MRS is a beast with the 2ZZ. Its tiny, ultra light, and handles superb with the mid-rear layout.

Max Orido's generally overshadowed by DK's fame, but I've always preferred his driving style. Watching him trail brake and transition so smoothly is more to my taste than DK's energetic aggression.

But the best driver in hot version is actually Gan San (Motoharu Kurosawa). There's no race in which he fairly lost to DK. Orido in similar car seems to perform worse than DK. And then there are others, who seem to be behind these three with NOB and Nakaya and maybe Hattori being the best out of them.

Nitronixus it’s swapped with a 2ZZ (like the lotus Elise) but had ae101 ITBs installed I believe.

グンサイの荒れた路面でオンザレールが出来るとかこの時のスピリッツMR-Sのセッティングがヤバい 先代のSW20(特にGT-S)のインパクトのせいで当時不評を買ったMR-Sだけど、今見ると非常に貴重な存在だったと思う

i like the gearbox ratio of the hachiroku, when shifting from 2nd to 3rd and 4th gear, the revs doesnt drop too much. but the mr-s engine is very responsive and powerful. when from partially pressing the pedal then suddenly floor the pedal, the engine just suddenly screams.

Tsuchiya use 3.5 gear. It's in one of the AE86 development video. You could see it on the sticky note on the speedo cluster about where the gear placed.

Well there’s no fourth gear You from 3rd to 5th skipping fourth which feels really weird to use lol it’s bizzare to have to skip a gear

@@tony_5156 He doesn't go to 5th gear. Its been replaced by a 3.5. So its essentially, 3rd -> 3.5 -> 4th

People always underestimate the actual importance of lightness and engine placement. There is a reason why most race cars have their engines mid mounted. Cant wait to get an mr-s i want to put a k20 in one eventully.

I don't think he's using the gutter technique here as there isn't a gutter for him to hook his wheel onto. What he's doing here is more akin to what takumi and keisuke did against the seven star leaf team in the first project D race - using inner wheel lift to take an inner line that doesn't exist on the tarmac.

Techno Pro Spirit did something to the gear ratios! 4th gear maxxed is like 80mph on that car.. my XRS does 95 in 3rd gear.. amazing what they have done to that car!!!

MR-Sに惚れたけどSW20の方が あ、かっこいいって思ってSWの方 買ったw 3年前なので、良個体でも かなり安かった。 100万で買えた。

SWはスポーティー車としてもGTツアラーとしても良い出来なので大好きです。リトラクタブルヘッドライト+MRの組み合わせは夢がある MR-Sも遅いと言われますがカテゴリーそのものが強いので1zzライトチューンでも載せ替えでも強みがあるしサーキット走行はオープンカー故ロールケージも必須、仕上げればすぐにレーシングカーの乗り心地でワクワクします ハードトップ車と違ってボディ全部をポン付けで樹脂やワイドボディに置き換えれるのもポイント高いです
