In Europe, it's normal to let kids have limited access to drink in order to teach responsible drinking. You have to be adult to buy it, but kids are allowed to drink. I was drinking Bacardi and Coke on holiday when I was 8, had a glass of wine with a meal whenever it was a special occasion (we didn't normally have wine with meals), and had a sherry when guests were round and drinks came out. Prohibition just creates a "forbidden fruit" effect, which is why so many go crazy as soon as they have access to drink. If you're used to moderate drinking, the only difference when you become adult is that you have to start paying for it, so it's no big deal.
@bearflipstable836510 ай бұрын
I would argue kids drinking responsibly is not drinking at all.

@juliatarrel16746 ай бұрын
@@iylamstoy I think you're right, it's a clutter thing. If you want to give them things, give them things you know they want. They love getting hides because they're always short of them. Enrichment items like plastic leaves and flowers - sometimes they have lots of them and each baby bin gets a bunch of stuff, other times you can watch Emily having to limit how much she gives each bin. I would suggest rocks for the baby bins, but they never seem to run short of those. And they never need water bowls for the baby bins, they use a cheap plumbing end cap. Wooden chew materials for their rodents would also be helpful: rodents go through wood so rapidly. Do make sure the wood is untreated, not stained or laquered or weatherproofed or anything like that. If you're 3D printing hides, smooth out the layer lines: Ed mentioned that the layer lines can trap bacteria. I wish I remembered which baby-hatching video he said that in, he had a few ideas about how to do that. I came up with these ideas by watching hatching videos.

I'm so happy that so many kids go with their parents to these shows! All of my most formative memories from childhood involve animals - my favourite was a field trip to the zoo, where a handler invited us all to pet a _massive_ boa. I was one of the few kids that leapt at the chance. I still remember the sheer power I could feel under her skin, and how smooth her scales were. Our future will depend on kids with a love of nature and animals; knowing that they're all making their own wonderful memories does my heart a lot of good, considering all the bad in the world right now.

I have somehow gotten my 10 year old niece completely obsessed with ball pythons. She & I are drawing up designs & doing research in order to build a huge, beautiful enclosure together….and then I’ve told her she can have a snake that lives at my house, since having a snake at her house is *not* happening. 😆 I’ve watched Snake Discovery for years, but she recently asked me if I’d ever watched it…I felt so dumb for not introducing her to the channel sooner! She loves you guys SO much. In fact, she begged her dad to take her to a reptile store she saw in the same complex where she takes gymnastics, and he finally caved. When she spoke with the owner of the store she mentioned loving Snake Discovery & he told her that he’d met Emily & Ed at a show not too long ago & later had dinner with you guys. She was SO excited to know someone who had dinner with Emily and Ed!! She must have asked him a million questions. The next weekend she begged me to take her there so that she could introduce me to the “guy who had dinner with Emily & Ed.” We walked around this tiny shop for like 2 hours, she had to look at everything. She introduced me to her new friend, made famous for having a meal with her idol’s! You’ll be happy to know she learned that you two are as exceptional as she always believed, and just as nice in person as you are in your videos. Thank you for giving my niece people to look up to, and people who encourage her in all of the right ways, to be her beautiful, amazing, smart, self. And also, to love snakes. It’s been wonderful to share that passion with her! ❤❤

Loved seeing the fun had at the show! And that sweet baby hognose is so precious and derpy I love it. I was very lucky to get to meet both Emily & Ed in Orlando in March and it was the highlight of my entire trip, I was so nervous but they were kind and so friendly. You have created such a loving community and it is so great to watch you both succeed!
