I agree. The battery stuff is getting old. I'm done with reviews for a while. I think I'll do a couple interesting battery builds but then it's no more batteries for a while. Reviews are a LOT of work!

I like the video and the advice. I have been to the Dominican Republic I think about 10-12 years ago. I have traveled quite a bit over my lifetime. The Dominican Republic was probably one of the unsafest country I have ever been in.Especially if you don't speak Spanish. At least stay away from Santo Domingo. Maybe it has changed over the past 10 years. And maybe if I do ever get another boat again and go cruising I might give this port a try.

Yes. Luperon isn't perfect but it's way safer then Santa Domingo

I went through there in 2013 , and truly loved the place and the people! I wonder if there is a possibility of a haul out with my current 7.5 foot keel? I have been at Nanny Cay for the past 4 years and it is time to travel, plus I have a friend who is in the Bahamas on a 42 ft monohull.

You would have to check with the yard. I know that for "special" boats they can bring in a crane.
@tartansailor10 ай бұрын
This video comes to me just at the right time. I am planning to get to Luperon mid June from Puerto Rico and leave it there for 6 month as I get back home. I have yet to decide if I will leave the boat in the water or haul it out, Money aside, what would you recommend especially as I will be away during hurricane season. Thanks for your guidance, Richard
@Clarks-Adventure10 ай бұрын
Both good choices. If you need paint haul???

Yeah that was good.... chances of me using it are low... but maybe some day I will attempt the NW passage from Alaska to Baffin Isl. and down.... visit family in Lower Canada and come down..... Not sure the Panama c will still be there if i make it down to Mexico... The boat is small enough to be shipped by truck across to the gulf of Mexico I guess. Have a good one.

So since we've already been exhausted before, we won't be exhausted for the first time when we visit Luperon so would that make it safer for us? ;> Couldn't resist treating you like family. I can hear you saying - "Oh boy! What a crummy family!!". Best!

I hated that so much during editing but just not enough to overdub with the obvious sound difference that always happens with recording. Glad the point made it through.

1st lol. My friend and co-captain has an American hang-up where he denies, "Vas a tener que aprender a hablar español." Methinks he'll live to re-evaluate that opinion... :)
@Clarks-Adventure10 ай бұрын
I function with only basic Spanish. Many speak none at all.
@scottkrebs58610 ай бұрын
@@Clarks-Adventure Staying close to the beaten [tourist/cruising] path, you're correct - one can get by hablando solo ingles. It strikes me as being useful to have the ability to communicate with the indigenous personnel with a smattering of Spanish if one wants to trade in drinking water, fuel, or the catch of the day when visiting more off-the-beaten-path places like San Andres, San Blas, or Bocas del Toro, for instance. Certainly if venturing further south, perhaps to Columbia, having that in your tool belt makes life easier. I think he'll be okay as long as I can teach him "dos cervezas por favor" he'll get along... lol ;D
@scottkrebs58610 ай бұрын
But, leaving useless comments to feed the YT algorithm aside, I do appreciate the thorough Luperon walk-through, it's very useful to have in the tool belt and much appreciated! Reminds me of the Bimini check-in vid.
