Honestly I wish they’d come out with more shade options for these pallets!! As someone who is VERY fair, I do not suit those deep rose/mauve tones at all. I have rosacea and if I go through the trouble of putting on foundation to cover it, the LAST thing I want to do is apply deep blush tones to make it look like I’m having a flare up 😂 I wish they’d do more pale toned blushes for fair tones A medium skin tone pallet and then one for really deep skin tone. But hourglass seems to really love that light to medium skin tone range 🙄 And I know you can go light handed with the blush application, it’s just the undertones in them look like how my rosacea flare ups look 😩

@@nermeens24 girl yes!! Warm blushes look disgusting on me as well as those deep mauve/rose tones!! I really look the best wearing a very pale cool toned pink or really light and creamy peach tones I always wanted to try warm soul but I didn’t and then they reformulated it! But even my bronzers , I like them to be very neutral. Not too red or grey! I really like the Too faced sweet tea bronzer. I don’t love their brand but the tones in the bronzer are amazing if you have fair skin!

I love how you blend everything together. Way back when I first found your channel, I told my husband , that you are the only person I know that can take an un wearable or loud eyeshadow and turn it practical. You use a light touch and blend amazingly, then voila a gorgeous eyelook using whatever color you choose. Beautiful!

The fewer shades there are in a palette the more important it is that I'm able to use all the shades. Especially when the palette is that expensive. I can't imagine why after being told over and over that their shade range isn't good enough they still couldn't put a deeper bronzer in that palette. It feels like deliberate exclusion.

I would LOVE to see you do a cheek palette showdown video! You could compile palettes that do a mix of blush, highlight, bronzer or contour and see which wins out! Your passion for blush rivals my own. However, I can't justify buying all the palettes out there to see which is best for me. I know Kevyn Aucoin, Charlotte Tilbury & IT do full face palettes that could be thrown in the ranking, too. Dior Backstage does a 4 pan cheek palette. Natasha Denona does blush & highlight palettes. There are the Beauty Bakerie ones. MAC has a palette out with blush, highlight & bronzer right now. Surratt (my FAVE blush to date!) does self-designed cheek palettes. Indie brands do them, too. You already own a lot of face palettes, so it would be epic to get a compare/contrast going!

I love Hourglass products, but it is so darn disheartening that their shade range is so terrible. I can't buy from them for this reason. It's 2021, you'd think they would do better. On another note, you look beautiful, as always, Emily!

Have you tried it before commenting, and do you know what Hourglass is? I’m asking because most people judge a palette from what it looks like in the box, not on their skin. Most people think that what they see is how it will be on your skin, because that’s how ordinary palettes work. Not, Hourglass. Their colors can look ever so mismatched to your skin, but as you put it on, it is perfect for you. As every single grain of powder is light reflecting, it will pick up your own skin color, and that is why they work on everyone, within reason. I have had the same thoughts as you, that they are only meant for a specific skin color and undertone, but I was wrong. If you do some research you’ll find men and women from the whitest white to the very dark praise this palette, showing us how well it works on them. If you want a palette that really gives color payoff, a palette that can give you a look that signals to everyone that you have full makeup on, this ain’t it.

I’m a medium Asian skin tone and none of the Palettes work the bronzer is way to light it’s literally a shade darker then my skin the blushes are nice but no worth the money if you can only uses the blush. It seems hourglass is only made for white people.

Hourglass really surprises me. I truly thought they were sorta TRYING to be a bit more inclusive w/this semi-deeper palette option, til I saw the bronzer. Who decided that was a good idea? Additionally, the blushes could accommodate a lot of people but that’s it. Neither of the bronzers would even show up on me w/my tan. I’m just not sure why Hourglass REFUSES to be more inclusive. I feel really bad that it’s mainly those with deeper skin that have had to make the most noise & a goldmine like Hourglass still turns their noses up & ignores them. They really dropped the ball Imo. It’s too bad too bcz there’s so many people that would enjoy their products too. I actually stopped purchasing hourglass products because of this.

I literally discarded all of my HG products and I will not purchase another until HG becomes more respectful/ inclusive of POC. If they can respect animals, why not POC. Emily's description is totally accurate: none of the products are in-your-face obvious, yet somehow flattering and transformative. I wish they would have flipped the bronzers. The bronzer in the pink packaging is a bit dark on me, although okay if I go really light handed. I would have preferred ethereal or diffused light over the infinity, but it is pretty. I’ve noticed many of the reviews saying that the infinity light is full of glitter which I don’t find to be true. Thanks for showing them side by side! Last year they had the blush only palette for holiday which I loved. If I could have had all four blushes in one palette my heart would have been happy!

I have the uni-unlocked. I think you’re right. Your bronzer had much cooler lighter tones mixed in rather than dark tone. I looked at mine and I have much more darker tones than light tones. I am hoping mine will be a deeper color when applied. I am so wanting this to work for the price. I did get 20% off at Sephora.

Great to see this review, I accidentally purchased the deeper product and it’s hard to return online makeup orders in the UK. If it weren’t for their shade range, Hourglass would be my favorite brand! I looove their products, but I hate that when family & friends ask what makeup I’m wearing, I feel embarrassed to say, because I know they won’t carry the product in their shade. I would also love to gift Hourglass to friends/family, but again, I’m not entirely sure it would work on them. It puts a damper on Xmas shopping; it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Thank you for this video! Between this and swatching them in store, I know which one I'm getting during the sale. I really thought the pinky peach from the first palette was the same as Galifornia from Benefit but it really was more pink than peach. I haven't bought an hourglass holiday pallette since the first one but I'm ready for this one!

This this the first time I’ve been tempted to buy one of these. They looked great on you, especially the first one, but I’m seeing a lot of Sephora reviews complaining of there being a lot of micro glitter. I’m torn!

I really want one of these pallets (definitely not getting both!) so I really appreciate this review! They are both very pretty, tough to choose. Might come down to which one I can get my hands on. So far, every time I check Ulta online, the Universe one is sold out.
