Jasmine Aamira haha no it's not weird and people ask me that a lot! & no people with a Jpouch are told not to stick anything up there! Of course scopes and stuff are done but because things down there are so delicate with the pouch, you can't. I'm not quite sure how that affects gay relationships, I'm sure it is an adjustment! I will probably cover this in my "sex and dating with an ostomy" video

Just found your channel a couple days ago and I’m honestly in love. You’re such a beautiful girl and such an inspiration. My mom has a colostomy that she has to have for the rest of her life and its really interesting to learn more about other people’s stories. I don’t know you and I just found your channel but I’m so proud of you and you are so strong! ❤️

I just found your channel today, while I was procrastinating studying for my Nursing exam. I immediately was taken in by your spirit and your resilience. I’m in Nursing 1, the first semester of nursing school, and this end part of the semester has made me so stressed and worried about why I’m doing this. Your favorite part about being in the hospital made me start crying as well, and made me remember why I tried so hard to get into this program in the first place. I hope I can be someone’s favorite memory and help someone the way your nurses and healthcare professionals helped you. You’re an inspiration, and I can’t wait to see more content!!

I'm planning on doing a day in a life soon! I think maybe a "what I eat in a day" could be fun too, especially since I could tie that into having this disease. I just really want to make sure I have a good mix between ostomy/health disease videos and normal videos for everyone else. What do you think about maybe Tuesday is health day & Friday is other videos day?

Thank you so much for your videos, for telling your story, and for raising awareness about IBD and other so-called invisible illnesses/diseases. I was almost positive you were a Christian even before you said it directly in this video. I just wanted you to know that it's apparent in your words, the way you approach your circumstances, and the compassion you have for others. I too walk by faith. I don't have IBD or Crohn's, but I have Mitochondrial Disease. In short, the various system's don't have enough energy due to faulty or missing mitochondria (the powerhouse of the cell), so they run slower and slower and eventually shut down completely. When I wake up in the morning, I never know if I'll be in the ICU or the OR by that night, or end up admitted again for a month. We make the best of what we are given and find God''s purpose for us while we are here. We should aim to do well, but much more importantly to do good. (sorry for that novella, night med kicked in. But I meant everything I said). I am praying for you and I would love to talk with you more. I followed you on Insragram.Jeremiah 29:11 --Jenn

Honestly I think this has got to be the best compliment I have ever received. I think as a Christian we all strive to be good examples and to let your light shine for Christ and the fact that you noticed means the world to me! I am so sorry to hear about your disease. I know how mentally exhausting it can be to go through this day in and day out. God doesn't want us to be overwhelmed by illness, but rather overwhelmed by His love.

You are so very brave! I’ve watched your videos and you are so great about information regarding UC and iliostomy and jpouches. I had ulcerative colitis the whole entire colon was removed. I had a jpouch for about a year but it did not work for me I had chronic pouchites. So in February 2017 I had a permanent iliostomy constructed also removal of my rectom and anus yes Barbie butt. All of my surgeries were “open” not laporscopic. God Bless You!! Thank you for making your videos!

Your inspiring. I am 27 and when i was 17 they took out my gall bladder out and cut my bile duct. My stomach filled with bile and i had an emergency laporatomy ever since i have suffered from ibs and my stomach works completely different. I have so many troubles with everything to do with my stomach. i have a scar all down my stomach and when i have to go to the er it is so hard because they don't get that my stomach isnt the same as others. It is so hard not to feel like I am in a hopeless situation and it makes it harder to deal with when you look at me and i look fine. so many er doctors look at me like why are you here you look fine. Its very depressing and frustrating because until i get so bad they cant ignore me they try to push me off. Rarely do i get a doctor who will listen and then get it.

Hi I’m new to your channel and was wondering why you had your surgery on base which I’m thinking would be a military base? Btw I love your channel my fiancé recently got diagnosed with colitis and he also bleeding ulcers and by watching your videos helps me understand a little bit what he’s dealing with and helps me make sure he’s taking care of himself and watching his stomach to make sure it doesn’t become worse! Thanks so much :)

My dad is in the military and that's where my doctor was for my UC so that's where it all was happening. Once they realized how bad things were I was too unstable to move to another hospital. We never thought I was getting less than amazing care. But my surgeon on base couldn't do the reconstructive surgeries so she referred me a former colleague of hers at the University of Cincinnati.

Hi Emily i love watching your video's. I am 40 years old and I was diagnosed when I was 22 with ulcerative colitis. I had and baby and a 2 year old at the time. I was on pill form of medication. I was doing so well that at age 24 i stopped taking the medicine. Was in remission for 14 years. I had Major spine surgery. I quit smoking for the surgery and one month later i was in a horrible flare. I was put on infusions and was very sick with side effects (Remicade and intiveo) i now am having a really bad flare and was tested for c-diff. Which was negative. I was wondering if you have any ideas for better way of eating? I try to have a better diet. But have just been so depressed i just eat whatever. The only thing that helps me get through my day is my grandson.

@EmilyParrisVideos6 жыл бұрын
What products are you using on your skin before applying the wafer? It may be those. Is it the entire wafer coming off or is it a leak that makes it come off. If it's a leak I would use something like stoma paste or a barrier ring. I'm not as familiar with urostomies.. do you have a stoma similar to ileostomy patients? I'm just not sure what they bring through the abdominal wall.

Yeah I'm in a support group and a girl has the same situation as you. Her doctors weren't pressuring her to get out it but she has UC in her rectum still and it was causing her a lot of symptoms still. How annoying huh. Why did they have to do an ostomy first then jpouch- why couldn't they do the jpouch to begin with?
@EmilyParrisVideos6 жыл бұрын
Good question! For a couple of reasons- 1. My colon ruptured & I was going into septic shock. My heart had already stopped twice in the weeks prior to my emergency surgery. So they just wanted to get me in and out of surgery as fast as possible. 2. Some people who go into this surgery with a little more preparation might not know that they want a Jpouch yet. A lot of people choose to have their ostomy forever but once a Jpouch is formed there's really no going back. 3. This surgery is HUGE on your body & while some people do choose to do it in one surgery (have their colon removed and Jpouch formed) it can be too much for your body to take at once. So doctors like to do it in three steps to give your body more time to heal in between. I hope this answered your question!
@EmilyParrisVideos6 жыл бұрын
But even if you choose to have your colon removed and Jpouch formed in the same surgery you have to have an ostomy. You have to give your Jpouch time to heal before you can start using it.

My skin gets really red if the urine touches it I had my surgery a year ago November 10th was in the hospital till November 30th because I didn't feel like eating and I couldn't poop so the Dr gave me medical marijuana pills 5 days before I went home and I was able to poop 2 days before I went home they wanted me to eat and poop before I went home and when I did I asked my Dr when could I go home and he said he couldn't release me even though I was eating a popping so I signed myself out he only wanted to keep me there because of my insurance

What exactly is a j pouch
@butterflyforeve7 жыл бұрын
Laura Third when you have your large intestine removed you no longer have place to store stool before you expel it. She no longer has a large intestine due to it becoming inflamed and almost rupturing. She had to have emergency surgery and they removed her lower intestine and gave her a stoma, which is where she had the bag on her stomach that she would expel waste from. As you can imagine this is not exactly something anyone would wanbt to live with, but at 22 it was hard I'm sure. So she decided to get a Jpouch which basically gave her a way to hold stool they pull the small in stone down to where your rectum is and flip one side up to make a j or pouch to store stool, than at the bottom of that j they attach the rectum. I hope that explains it better but if not on her videos look for the one where she talks in detail about having the surgery.

Omg. I started watching you just last video but didn't know about your HSP. My daughter had HSP last January. It's terrible. Are your kidneys ok? Just before you said HSP I had a sinking feeling that's what you were going to say. I hate it. :(
@EmilyParrisVideos7 жыл бұрын
Yeah my kidneys ended up being okay for the most part. They were really concerned because along with the HSP I get kidney infections a lot, so they were checking my urine like crazy! I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter. It was honestly one of the scariest and worst pains I've ever been in. It literally felt like I had snapped both my legs in half and then I couldn't feel them at all. It was really weird because normally HSP comes to boys ages 2-12.. I'm a 22 year old woman so they aren't sure what brought it on.

being old does not mean you will have incontinence
@EmilyParrisVideos6 жыл бұрын
I'm aware of that thank you, but being that I don't have a colon or a rectum- both of which help you hold in stool, my doctors have told me that my chances of incontinence are a lot higher especially given that I haven't had children yet.
