Emily Parris your stomach looks amazing!! I’m so happy for you that you’re back to doing things you love. I just found your channel & I instantly fell in love with you! Lol! My bf has been in a flare for over 2 years and nothing has been helping him, only prednisone and obviously he can’t stay on that. he’s on humira which is not helping him at all, he’s been on it almost a year. I feel so bad for him, he’s constantly in pain, always in the bathroom, can’t eat, always sick at work and I wish i could help him. I wonder if this surgery is something he could consider. a question for your q&a is, what is one thing that you have learned from having UC? Do you have any advice for someone suffering with constant flare ups as far as diet goes? I know you’ve mentioned no red meat, anything else?

you’re so brave and wonderful to be able to speak to everyone about your journey. i cried some while watching this because i can’t imagine all the emotional and physical pain you must have endured. i don’t have an Ostomy but knowing more about it makes me more aware and actually learning about it opens my eyes to what some people deal with everyday. I just hope everyone can learn to be comfortable with their skin and their body & be confident like you. because everyone is perfect in their own way.

My husband was diagnosed with colon cancer and was given a temporary ileostomy. I think he was shown one time had to change his bag and sent home. This has been the most horrific thing we have ever been through because he had no idea what he was doing. Constant leaks, going through several bags because the seal wouldn’t stick sitting down while putting it on and I could go on and on but your last video showed me so many things that we can change. I just shared it with him while he is at work. Thank you so much for sharing your story I know how tough it must’ve been Because I have Crohn’s disease and I know how it can be embarrassing to talk about.

I had my ileostomy for 6 months while fighting rectal cancer. Had takedown April 2018 and can totally relate to your experience. I was so happy it was gone! And then I pooped myself in front of my friends, lol. But my bathroom issues became manageable over time and are still improving now, well over a year later! I would never go back by choice. My scars look just like yours. Thanks so much for sharing!

Your so brave. Glad your talking about this for those who have had similar experiences. I knew someone who had a bag and then a j pouch. After getting impailed on a tree from snowmobile accident. He had such a hard time on that bag. Once it spilled at his daughters dance recital all over himself. Rough living. So glad your doing better and life is better ♡

I had my colon removed when I was a baby and had a ostomy bag until I was about 3 years old. I had NEC which is a flesh eating bacteria in my colon. I was very close to dying. Luckily I got the ostomy reversed and I don’t remember it. I have a little dip too! And scars from hip to hip. Just remember they are battle scars! I love your channel! I love that you are open about your colitis and spreading awareness!

I was just discharged yesterday from an ostomy reversal. I had the same reaction about losing my pouch. I was so worried if I'd ever find someone who could find me attractive. I had sooo many other worries. Going through your videos showed that you had a lot of same concerns. I hope a lot of younger women when faced withlife altering decisions can see your videos. They are direct, REAL, and really can help. Im so happy for you and keeping my fingers crossed that our reversals stick.

I’m so happy that god had me find your channel. I am going through a lot right now, and after watching all of your videos you are my biggest inspiration! I have had cdiff 3 times in the past 8 months. I had a stool fecal transplant last week (fingers crossed 🤞🏻 it works for me). I’m 26 and have been very very sick and lost my dream job. With the cdiff a few weeks ago I woke up (tmi sorry) pouring blood out of my bottom. When I was 22 I got a severe blood infection (sepsis) and almost lost my life. I had a picc line for 10 weeks. Thank you for making these videos.

Would love a pros and cons j pouch video. Also I would love to see a more about exactly how ostomy, and j-pouch works. About the disposable bags how did they differ. Obviously you still empty them but did you have to clean it out in between changes or just empty them. My thirteen year old has major medical issues has a g-tube etc... Your so amazing and I am so sorry your ex couldn't see that. Glad you have such an AMAZING support network that is so important. Congratulations on the j-pouch. So I started watching your videos a couple of weeks ago as a nurse. Personally videos like this help me understand how I can help people in your situation in the future. The number one thing I'd like to know is, what do you think is most important from your experiences to be a message to healthcare workers. Whether it's what type of care helped you the most, what you want from a good team, or just something that positively affected you. You rock, best of luck with your j tube !!!!!

Love your update :) I had my first surgery a day after yours. I was 9 weeks out yesterday. I may be able to have a reversal but it won't be for a long time. My story started with anal cancer in 2015 but chemo and radiation killed the tumor. I was not getting better after treatment had lots of horrible pain. In July of 2016 I was diagnosed with c diff that I probably got while my white counts were low during one of my hospital stays. To make a very long story short I had c diff 9 times from July of 2016 through June 2017. My GI drs were not doing anything to help me. I was in and out of the hospital 6 times during this period and ended up with ulcerative colitis. Thank goodness that I finally got a family dr that got stuff rolling and did scans. I was pretty much on deaths door before my surgery. I had lost 80 pounds and was so sick. The surgery has been a huge blessing. I still have a ways to go to heal and get healthy but I'm so much better. I'm so glad you were able to get your bag removed. Having the bag really has not caused me too much stress and if I have to have it for ever I'm OK with it. If I was in my 20s I know it would have been rough but I'm 50 so I think that's why its not so bad for me. I do have horrible anxiety from all the medical stuff I have been through in the last 2 1/2 years and recently had to go on medication for it. I'm hoping for a reversal but because of what radiation damaging my muscles down there and the chance of the colitis coming back my surgeon says I might have a better quality of life keeping my ileostomy than having a reversal and ending up back with the bag anyway. I so admire your courage and strength from all you have been through and to share it with people is amazing. I started watching your videos when I got out of the hospital from this surgery and they helped me so so much. Your such a beautiful person and have a beautiful spirit. I'm just so happy to know your doing well. Thank you for sharing this update as I was wondering how you were doing. Huggs

Thank you for posting your videos they have been so helpful for me since my mom has had her entire large intestine and part of the small intestine removed completely, she now has an ileostomy which looks a little bit different than yours, hers is sort of sunken in rather than sticking out which makes it hard to keep the bag from leaking. But I am her IHSS caregiver and so I will be the one to help her with these things until she gets comfortable with them so thank you for your videos because it helps me understand a little bit more about what don't know life is like with an ostomy bag. Much love! Xo xo

I just subscribed last night and watched all your videos about your ulcerative colitis. You are so brave and strong for going through all that pain. If anyone feels like they need someone to talk to, I am more than happy to listen. I may not know how it feels to go through what some of you are going through right now, but I’ll do my best to understand and help you feel better! Virtual hugs for everyone!! 🤗🤗🤗

My mom had an ostomy bag when she was alive. And i remember thinkimg that it was so gross and "why do i have to deal with this " "why do i have to help with this im just a kid." I was litrally probably between the ages 9 and 10 when she got it and she died 10 years ago. When i came across your channel i was so interested because i wasnt told so much about it when i was a child changing her bag on my own with just her saying what to do and how to do it. ( she couldnt do much of anything for herself for most of my life she was in a hospital bed) . So thankyou for doing what you do! Its so informative. Its deffinitlyy something that more people should be aware about.

KZbin suggested that video to me and I watched it because I like to take any chance I can to learn a about anything and everything, especially when it's something I have a phobia about. I don't really find it disgusting, it's just something some people have because human bodies do a lot of different things and a lot can happen with them. But since childhood I've had this irrational fear that involves my tummy and intestines, so it really hits both points. I'm a strong believer in phobias being rooted in ignorance, though, so I especially appreciated being able to watch you talk about it and take care of it as you normally would. As someone who's never experienced it or known anyone who's experienced it, I think you've made an amazing first step in introducing people to it and beginning that education, and you didn't even intend to. Thank you

Hey Emily, I've been following you since your first ibd video and I want to thank you so much for posting your journey through your surgeries. They really helped me and my wife prepare for what was going to happen. So far I am 4 weeks post op from step 1 and loving having a life again but still struggle with body image and sleep. I've followed your posts for advice and help on support groups and am really glad to see your doing better now. You touched on my question in this video. My question is, what should I be considering when debating on going through the second and third surgery for a jpouch, or staying with an Ostomy.
