HEY , u now probably doing your 2nd yr ig. RIGHT NOW i have 3 months till my engineering clg start, so did u buy the ipad and was it worth the purchase ?

@@DUYFIUYLIHYI don't know about him but l am done with my first year of engineering without any tablets. I used a laptop for doing works like engineering drawing and codes and for reading slides and pdf, and used paper and pen for taking notes. I think having paper notes are soothing, l also prefer reading physical copies of books from libraries. Max students of my class have ipads or other tabs while l don't, but my cgpa was the best. So it really depends on you. The fact is, ipad isn't a necessity for engineering, it's just a luxury. However, I am thinking of buying a tab(android, don't want to spend much) for reading slides and pdf. I have to do too much heavy software works on my laptop so need to reduce the load a bit.

I have that apple pencil sleeve (the hexagonal one, that makes the apple pencil chunky), it's great for people who have issues with their hands, it's also quite nostalgic. My newest purchase, since it does reduce the magnets (even when fitted correctly, it looses grip) is an UPPR pencil stand. I know have a save spot to put my pencil, while my iPad is in it's vertical stand. I just have to remember to charge up the pencil from time to time.

Interesting take. I don’t have an iPad but I use an electronic device. I write on paper for the initial studying and information down then I use the device to practice hundreds of problems where I can freely write and delete and overwrite zzz this method is very efficient . As someone who writes solely in cursive I find it incredibly hard to maintain the flow of writing on my iPad. It looks patchy and not put together. But hand printing takes so much longer which is inefficient when I’m in class trying to keep up with professors. There’s really no winning i carry my iPad and MacBook to minimize what’s in my bag to reduce weight but I have to carry a notebook with everything to take my notes due to handwriting rather than hand printing.

@ushiocheng2 жыл бұрын
okay, while I strongly agree with some point, I have a strong opinion to others. And I should be qualified to discuss this as a 5 year note taker on ipad There is a vast difference between Apple pencil and other styles, pressure sensitivity, convenience, and responsiveness is the most obvious ones. I do agree that buying Apple pencil for simple note taking is a matter of diminishing return but claiming Apple pencil and other styles works basically the same is just an insult to Apple engineers. *side note I got one for 70, which is a great deal but I think you can find one for cheap as well For cases, a flap to protect your pencil is good but cases that have a cutout to put your pencil in is better IMO. *though if you like to put a sleeve on your apple pencil it won't fit, so personal preference here Screen protector...... my stance is basically: if you have a case with a thing that covers your screen, you don't. Unless you don't trust yourself so much or you hate write on glass, don't do it. Since this video is intended for new ipad users, I would suggest don't get a screen protector until you tried to write on glass for a while. Also, NO paperlike please especially if you get the 12 in ipad pro, you get like a $600 screen and than ruin the contrast ratio with an overpriced screen protector.... and paperlike is definitely overpriced just because how much money they put into promotion. GoodNote yes! :) plus you can write on a page by page basis which is more friendly to handouts and printing. I don't know notability moved to a subscription plan, which is annoying, but the last time I tried I didn't like it anyway. Free app exist but I guess if you already spent couple hundred dollars at least on an ipad, spend 8 more for a good app isn't that hard to justify.
@emilystudying2 жыл бұрын
for your first point about the apple pencil styles, most people who have an iPad for school aren't heavily into calligraphy/art pressure sensitivity (a broad statement, but most of my friends who have ipads have no idea what calligraphy is), so having the pressure sensitivity is useless. The apple pencil dupes are a lot cheaper and basically write the same way in my opinion. i do agree with the cutout for the apple pencil, but i usually have the grip, so it doesn't fit. i also have the screen protector cause i have the fear that things might get scratched. you can always try an off brand matte screen protector though. but i notice that glass is just weird (personal preference). but thank you for the comment, appreciate another insight!

Don’t forget you CANNOT rest your hand and write at the same time with anything but the Apple Pencil. You saying anything else is “basically the same” is quite misleading as there are some big differences.

@@thirdpartypariah6514 i have an off brand pencil from amazon and can do just that with no issue at all. IMO the apple pencil has a lot of cute extras but when it comes to the basic functions a lot of these off brand pencils can keep up :)

Great video, well done.I might suggest downloading some lettering practice sheets like many of us remember from grade school. Practice for half an hour a day and a month later, it will be easy to write on an iPad. Many practice sheets can be found on the Internet. While writing, slow down. Speed kills great writing. The smooth iPad surface and hard stylus tips will take getting used to. I prefer tip covers.
