I love this song. I remember RiRi was very critized for working with Em, since they've both been in abusive relationships. She was beaten to a pulp by Chris Brown and we all know Em and Kim's story. People were harsh on Rihanna blaming her for letting it get so bad before leaving. With this song they kind of shed a light on the dynamics of an abusive relationship. They mention how it's great at first and it feels like the good times are good enough to stay and try to work it out. The lies people say and the lies people choose to believe. It's not really that simple. On both sides. Hearing it from two people who've been on each extreme and manage to get out, it just hits different. Also, their collaboration The Monster is a masterpiece. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3nOoK2Dfr2Nbtk

There is a song Em did that roasted Rhianna, which is what he was apologizing for in another song, from what I gather rumor is that Rhianna gave Chris Brown an STD.

He said he didn't even have any recollection on recording it or any idea on how someone got their hands on it but he did apologize. Which is equally as great. however would you believe like a year or 2 ago the new generation of "woke" kids tried to cancel Eminem because of this Song? Because of it's Domestic violence story? Not because Em is abusive, he's never abused anyone physically.. but the whole Slim Shady personality and everything you know he is capable of.. "Evil Lyricism" it just fits. This song is incredibly powerful i love it so much! It's really hard to understand a toxic relationship if you've never been in one.. you start believing the lies you tell yourself and you start justifying all the bad things the other person does because u think that's the way they show love.. and it's not only about the physical stuff, it's the mental& psychological manipulation.. it's really hard to get out of these relationships and break the pattern 😅

Great reaction! This is such a tough but important lesson that so many people need to learn. I'm going to reiterate what was said for the people who may read this, get out if it happens a first time!!! Male or female, end it. RUN. But also, recognize toxicity as soon as you can as it can come in many forms, not just physical. Mentally too. "I love the way you lie" enters your head when you've been so manipulated and torn down to lose all self confidence and control. You begin to think this is normal. It's not. Watch for red flags from the get go before it's too late..

@@larryshair The worst case is when it comes from people closest to you, ie. family. With friends and partners you can eventually block them out. But with relatives and parents you have only so many options. Especially if you're for example broke/poor or otherwise a mess and know you will need them. You try to look past that and give them another chance after occassional good deeds only to get let down by their toxicity and abuse most of the time - which they never admit or gaslight you to think it's good. In those cases you're truly in a corner.

@TuneTamasha yes 💯 agree. People can be mean, I have experienced it firsthand and I'll never, ever understand why families can be categorized as mean or toxic to each other. It's beyond my comprehension. I'll never "get it" and I'm glad I'll never "get it." Still have to live with that pain, and they walk without guilt. 💔
@jasmin49472 жыл бұрын
I'm sure someone has already given a similar perspective, but when she says "I love the way it hurts" it's not that she loves the pain, it's that when you're abused like that, sometimes you process it in a way to think that the beatings and hurt are coming from a place of love. You think they are behaving like that because they "love" you so much. It's irrational, but it happens in the moment. It's common with people who grew up in abusive households, with parents that abuse each other and thought it was normal growing up.

This was my most played song back in my middle school/early high school days, amazing song. I think in the chorus she isn’t saying that she literally like the way it hurts or love the way he lies, too me it’s just saying that they look past the abusive stuff they do to each other because they love each other. A lot of times in cases of one person getting abused they are simply just too kind and trusting of the idea that the other person loves them despite what they do or say and give too many chances because of their forgiving nature. Both me and my long term girlfriend have been in abusive relationships. I stayed through emotional abuse and physical abuse for awhile because I thought she loved me and genuinely thought that she was going to work on it but eventually I wanted out but still didn’t leave for 3 months because she would threaten to Kill herself if I left. Eventually got out by doing trivial things that she didn’t like until breaking up was her idea. My current girlfriend had it way worse the asshole would beat her and do other shit but she would keep coming back because she is literally the embodiment of forgiving and kindness. She finally got out through circumstance of us both being single at the same time, we dated way back in highschool but then she moved 3 hours away, we started talking and then started dating so she never got the chance to be pulled back in by that garbage. We have now been dating for 4 years and have a son. Life worked out but man can it be tough to leave relationships where your kindness is being taken advantage of

From what you were saying around 12 mins In, about good people who are afraid to leave. I grew up abused my entire life. We tried to leave a dozen times at least. We finally got out when all of my siblings were old enough to tell the court we never wanted to see him again. Abusers often have outside people fooled, thinking they’re good people. We lied for him since we were so little that even my grandparents who I stayed with most of the time never knew. But they could tell we were hiding something. It takes the average abused person 6 times leaving before it finally sticks. You have no idea what they’re threatening to do to you and your loved ones, so I always tell that so more people can stop telling women especially “well if you’re abused just leave.” Yes leave BEFORE it gets too hard to leave. Now I leave when I see those red flags. Don’t dismiss the flags. But when they’re already in too deep, don’t judge people for staying, when you have no idea what is happening to them, ya know? Just be as supportive as possible and know that they have someone on their side.💜nothing you say can change their minds, and it hurts really bad when you make them feel worse about it. They need support and love and to know their worth. Other than that, they need to leave on their own, you can’t force them or shame them into leaving.

Also, there's another version of the song called Part 2 and a version with Skylar Grey before the song was basically given to Riri. She has another song with Em called Monster. Newer and again different. That's a good one too, more about Em. One other tip would be Airplanes by BoB, which is a two parter as well with Em on Part 2 with Hayley Williams. A saying of mine is "Hiphop is so great, because you do not have to change the genre you're listening to when your mood changes" It has everything, from deep (personal) stuff, to political songs to straight up party-songs. And the best of the best can do all of them, Eminem being one of them. Tom MacDonald is, imo, a great example of "artists that manage to do different styles and still not be out of character" in the "current generation"

I really like the freshness and enthusiasm you bring to your reactions along your journey of discovery of the great Eminem. As you like this joint with Rhianna, check out the other one they collaborated on called Monster, you will love it

This is about being in abusive relationships and you want to leave but you love them so much you just keep putting up with everything they throw at you.... It means they love that you can lie and make them feel like the only one for them... But in reality it's all an illusion.

I just really want to see his reaction to some Em’s old diss tracks like ‘Bully’, ‘Nail in the coffin’, ‘The Sauce’, ‘Go to sleep’, or even ‘Canibitch’. I had so much fun back when he reacted to Killshot. ^^

he is Charlie from Lost, he's also Merry, a hobbit, in Lord of the Rings. i think his name is Dominic Monaghan. the woman is Megan Fox. Skylar Grey who wrote the hook for I Need A Doctor wrote the Rhianna part of this song.

Hey Larry. Super cool reaction, this is one of my fav Em songs period. Cool to observe your journey through the repertoire of one of the GOATs of modern era rap. I have a lil question tho: about 6 months ago I suggested a song for a reaction and u said you will get to it but it appears you didn’t. Can you please react to it eventually? The name of the song is “That’s Just Life” by Memphis May Fire. This song saved me from committing suicide couple of years ago when I was battling a severe depression. Would mean a lot to hear your thoughts on the topic and the song. Thanks.

I feel this is much more a portrayal of a toxic relationship that is abusive and not just and abusive relationship. I was in an abusive marriage and can't relate to this song at all. I, and many others, stayed because due my childhood I thought it was a normal relationship. Back then, I thought that "happy" families and relationships were just for TV and not a real life thing. We don't all actually think we like how it feels. Dominic Monaghan will only ever be the guy from Hetty Wainthropp (British detective show from the mid 90s that I watched while growing up in California), though.

I like this one. It’s a reminder to me of my journey, lessons learned…the hard way, unfortunately. Really appreciate how you react to Em. I sent you a new request the same way I did previously. Hope you love it!

Hell yeah, I been wondering if you would ever do this song! Also I love the show Lost and that IS Charlie! He also plays Merry, one of the Hobbits in Lord Of The Rings!
