To everyone who is unaware: eminem at the time of this interview had just released his first album or his first song this interview isn’t definitive, eminem was popular in America but not worldwide yet, and Eminem could walk around the city he grew up in with not that much trouble, it was only until the marshal mathers days that it was becoming dangerous to go in his city

Little known fact Eminem actually owns the rights to Tupac's music Tupac's mother sold the rights to em because she said that em was the most deserving to own the rights
@strongislandx
@strongislandx 9 ай бұрын
@@atravelingman2925 Its a little known fact because its not true, haha thats a really nice story though, that you made up. That may be the reason why Afeni Shakur asked Eminem to produce 4 songs on Tupacs album Resurrection. But Death Row Records owned the albums that Tupac did under their label and unreleased music, they sold it to Entertainment One in 2006 and then they sold it to MNRK Music Group who still own the rights to the music released under Death Row, but all that is still being fought over . Snoop just bought Death Row but it doesnt include Tupacs music and Dr. Dre's The Chronic album. Tupacs Mom Afeni sued Entertainment One and Death Row and won and they were ordered to pay a lot of royalties to her and she got owner ship of all music released after Tupac died. his estate is really confusing. But Eminem certainly doesnt own it. And most royalties go back to Afeni Shakurs estate that she setup. And also all streaming royalties go back to Tupac and his mothers estate because when this was all being fought over, streaming music didnt exist. So basically the Shakur estate profits the most from the music but some early albums are still owned by whoever originally bought Death Row, but its in constant negotiation and litigation and Snoop says he has a good relationship with the Shakur estate and hopes to bring Pac's music back to death row. Its not really a cut and dry thing like 1 person owns it all. its confusing because there is music produced when he was alive, music released after his death. Royalties involved, streaming rights involved. made even more confusing by Suge being in Jail and Death Row being sold multiple times and possible the selling of Death Row might not have included everything each sale. You could probably negotiate to sell your label but keep some masters. Which is why Snoop owns Death Row but not Tupacs music. So confusing, even more so also because Tupacs mom is also dead now. Tupacs estate also owns his image and likeness for commercial purposes which is different than his music, I guess like movies made about him and merch

4:18 It's clear by this time, during the ride over to the house, that the reason he is successful is because he never gave up on himself. With just flyers, he self-promoted himself. He was a self-marketer. It's not surprising he made it to be the rap superstar he is now. He may have a lot of flaws, but he stuck to his goals, and when no one believed in him, he believed in himself. Whether he painted shirts, or was in a talent contest, he handed out flyers. I don't know the last time I ever saw a flyer promoting a band. Now it's people buying KZbin ads. There are no people on the ground interfacing, there are no flyers. He clawed his way up the ranks, he did.

Before Proof died he used to smile and goof around more. Proof broke him. For real, his daddy left him, his mom had issues( had to steal the cigarettes so he could keep $2 dollars for lunch money?like wtf) and wasn't really there for him, his Uncle/Friend Ronny died when they were both 19. He was in and out of a relationship with Kim(getting divorced married and divorced again.) When Proof died all he really had left was his kids. Especially his daughter Hailie. His little brother Nate that he adopted was grown, he adopted Whitney(Kim's daughter) and Lainey. So I think he knew he had to stay present in this world for them. But Em has been through so much trauma in life there was a time when he almost took his own life. Now I think he just refuses to smile more as a joke(people expect a villain) and to look tough too. But for a while, before he healed.... 😔 He's also introverted as fuck, he is hungry for the respect and to be appreciated by millions, but he hates being famous and likes to keep to himself.

Aiko Giron Another person that thinks they know what mumble rap is. Oh please, Eminem didn’t even touch this generation of rap, that album left no mark. Also the album was bad, sure he had lyricism, but his flow was choppy and had a bad vocal. Rappers these days don’t mumble, only a few do like Playboi Carti. Plus this era of rap is better, it comes out in different types of rap, which makes it better for fans. I can hear all words these rappers these days except Carti clearly. Just because your lyrical that doesn’t mean your shit is good, like Joyner Lucas, if you don’t have the flow then your career will blow. Eminem hasn’t had a actual good song since the early 2000’s, when he had a better flow.

Probably one the best interviews he did. Still will always be the greatest rapper in my book. Career wrecker on the mic.

I think people forget to appreciate how humble this man is, he always keeps a level head despite him being in my humble opinion the best rapper but he always showing love to his city and those who inspired him or those he respects. For an example depsite him making rap god he never went around saying he was the "god of rap" the people said that for him and thats a aswome to hear that a person that humble can have the fan's be his shild and armor, its really cool to see. That is just an one of many cases where he is humble bad respect to EMINEM I wouldn't be who I am today without his guidence through his music and that's just real talk.....

Man oh man. I remember watching this on MTV back in 1999. I was 9 years old. MTV & TRL was everything. Eminem was just about to take over the world. It is now New Years Eve. 2020 was trash. Bright side was Eminem dropped a album & a deluxe version this year. He is a massive icon. Greatest rapper alive. This was the first time I saw him. Soon after I got my hands on The Slim Shady LP & literally canned my life. I was instantly hooked. Thank you Eminem.
