@arthurbertram43986 жыл бұрын
I thought it was an easy win too. Problem is, a lot of the kids these days are too impatient to let the significance of a lyric sink in or too lazy to even open their minds to it. They want something easy to understand. They want that instant gratification for nothing. Low hanging fruit that requires little or no effort to comprehend. Low risk/low reward. I mean, it's obvious when you look at 99% of these reaction videos. All you see is a little head bobbing in places where they should be losing their shit because of the jabs being thrown. They're too lazy and stupid to hear the meanings behind the words. Same reason most of them lost their shit during the now stupidly infamous Diddy/Pac line. They're too damn stupid to realize that Em was saying it never happened/will never happen. Instead, you get a reaction of "Why you do Diddy like that?"/"OMG! Did he just say that?!" It's exhausting, infuriating, and ridiculous that so many of these people can't even comprehend a straightforward line of lyric that's not even a play on words. And unfortunately, it says a lot about how dumb people have become in such a short amount of time. I don't know what's causing the mass retardation. But I hope we're able to turn it around.

Myke is right. People are telling me that Rap Devil was better and I'm like , "Were you not fully conscious when you heard Eminem's track." I'm so tired of people blinded by the fact that MGK made a catchier song, and that they think that's the reason his was better in their opinion. Wrong. The winner is the artist who can outrap the other. The winner will: outrap the other, create double and triple entendres, hard hitting bars, etc. Eminem did just that. He won and it wasn't even close. Younger blinded fans open your ears. You are just too lazy to dissect the bars Eminem had, and that's why you don't like his if you are one who doesn't like his diss.

Killshot is important to hip hop history, the same way we do not go out of our way to play "The takeova" or "Ether" we won't be seeking to listen to "Killshot", but we will be happy to have witness the skill put forth on em's track in just how it was different than Kelly's which hardly qualifies as a diss track the same way as killshot didn't have a whole lot to say about Kelly. Nevertheless killshot is better than rap devil competitively speaking.

The Em diss track was a B-. MGK diss track was an average C. Joe Budden on his podcast saying, "I've talked to Diddy, he said he heard it..." made me laugh! Joe wants Em to drop that Hit Em Up diss track, therefore he can respond. No, Joe. It doesn't work that way. Em said it was just a tap.

Joe has won me over and got me completely on his side only to punk out of a potential classic battle.

Isn't that what Joe wanted and probably got?! Wanted more people on his side b4 he drops a joint. But because Em didn't drop a full diss track... Joe backed out. Weak move. Joe is trying to play chess with Em, but Em is one move ahead by tapping him on the shoulder.
@cincybest6 жыл бұрын
Most of the people who thought that killshot wasn't a great diss and had Em losing also thought Blackface Drake was going to murder Pusha T are just casual listeners of hip hop and not real fans . They are the same people behind most of the garbage being packaged as music on mainstream radio. They are lazy and ignorant and can't begin to appreciate the complexities of the diss or songs like Not Alike ,Fall or the Ringer.
@TWIZZTHEWHIZKID6 жыл бұрын
Mike is absolutely correct about what he stated when he said this new generation doesn't understand the differnce between making a diss track & a song. It's not about whose song is better... it's about being the better emcee, being more witty, & displaying who's more technical skill wise.

@robertkirby59556 жыл бұрын
Ok, to an extent I get what you're trying to say but you're thinking about this too deeply. The thing is, people actually DID misunderstand that line (Jay Electronica for example). They thought that Em was saying that Puff really WAS responsible for 2Pac's fatal event in Las Vegas back in 1996. And if you know Eminem's history of controversial lyrics that ruffle the general public's feathers, literally no one (especially in 2018) should be surprised or offended that Em said that. And Em has said the quote, "I'm just playing 'such-and-such', you know I love you" 3 times in his career prior to this "Killshot" joint: "Kill You", "White America" and "So Much Better".
@robertkirby59556 жыл бұрын
Again, while I understand where you're coming from, you're still thinking about it too deeply. He said that it does not HAVE to be a "good SONG". It CAN be a "good SONG" (which I personally thought that both were), but the MAIN purpose of a diss track is to verbally assault the person that the emcee is targeting. There's no certain rule that says that you should or should not make a diss track in SONG form (i.e. with a catchy hook, which is what DEHH, specifically Myke, pointed out in the video). Eminem is the type of emcee where his lyrics DO have to be deciphered, and to some extent, in my personal opinion, MGK is too. Boogie Down Productions...not neccessarily.
@robertkirby59556 жыл бұрын
I agree that complex rhyme schemes don't automatically equal a win in a rap beef. My main point (which was also Myke's point in the video) was that Eminem came straight from the battling circuit in hip-hop. So just like his B-Rabbit character in "8 Mile", his main technique to 1-up his opponents is to take what they say to him and throw it back in their face and make them look stupid. That's what Em did to MGK; there wasn't much for him to say in "Killshot" like Myke pointed out. All Eminem had to do was out-rap him (which was FAR from difficult) by retorting all the shit that MGK said (old, just yelling at the mic, complaining while being rich). MGK wasn't really saying anything different from what other people who have been critical of modern-day Eminem have been saying for the past decade. The "man-bun" line was retorting MGK's "beard is weird" line, and Eminem actually made sound a little bit clever (although I do agree that the flow when he said it was somewhat cringe-worthy). Eminem didn't win this just based off of his complexity and/or him just simply being lyrically better than MGK. It took 2-3 weeks for "Rap Devil" to hit 100 million views (and it only became popular because of whom the diss was targeted at). Eminem's "Killshot" took LESS than a week, not even a FULL one, to reach 100 million. What does MGK have going for him right now? What did he even have going for him prior to this beef? Like Em said in his diss, he had to give him a career to destroy it. "Wild Boy" and its remix were both huge 6-7 years ago, but MGK could never make another hit that was on par with that, let alone surpass it. And that's a shame because "Invincible" and "Bad Things" both had the potential to do that in my opinion. I even think that his song "Lately" from his new EP has that potential. But MGK is starting to make himself look worse since the "Killshot" joint dropped...from the concert (and the social media pictures from said concert), the Breakfast Club interview (specifically the part where he said that he's not going to even respond to Em's diss...despite the fact that MGK claimed to be superior in this beef, yet doesn't have the balls to even prove it). All of this both justifies and solidifies why Myke was correct in this video.

One thing I will say about your convos nowadays is that sometimes you guys tend to discuss more about what other people are saying on social media than how you guys actually felt about the topic yourselves. 6:15! Exactly! There is NOTHING to say about MGK, there is nothing much to him. If Em had slaughtered him saying just how much of a nothing MGK is, then everyone would be whining that Em is the mean big guy. He just showed everyone by out-rapping him. In my opinion it would have been debasing for Em to even try to scrounge around for actual surprising dirt on MGK. What, we want Em to nose around to see if MGK cheated on high school tests or something?

Eminem had nothing on that beard weird line, I can’t look up to you you ain’t as tall as me, he dresses better and I’m ugaly, and the ‘dweeb all you you do is read the dictionary and stay inside’ line... forget about it. What did Eminem said, machine gun you ain’t even a bow and arrow, playing dead that the only time you hold steal, I rather be 80 year old me than man 20 year old, my biggest flops was your greatest hits, this is as big as your going to get so enjoy it had to give you a career to destroy it, what’s a machine gun when it’s out of ammo, as long as I’m shady you going to have live in my shadow, and that diddy line.. how dare he accuse diddy of killing 2pac, I take shit seriously.. All Eminem did was use a whole bunch of multi meaning punch lines and complex. MGK diss was simple and straight to the point and easier for me to understand, and it was a club banger. Oh Eminem definitely lost! You realize how dumb anyone sound when they say MGK had the better diss track...

It wasn't that Kill Shot was weak, it was just that Em did the bare minimum necessary to handle MGK. Em went for the effective route as opposed to some huge career-ending verbal assault. Additionally, I think he's using this MGK situation to bait Joe Budden into saying something about him on a record. I honestly feel like every time he raps he'll give Budden a jab until he jumps out the window.

I used to listen to MGK. Back in 2010-2013 he had lace up and general admission. Two solid albums. So I'm no stan. But, the hypocrisy of MGK is calling eminems last couple albums whack when MGK's last couple albums have been whack(even by his own standards). Killshot was so much more lyrical and layered than rap devil. Then Binge dropped while mgk had all this attention and it's one of the worst albums I've ever heard. Just my two cents though.

Myke's Akademics impression at 7:18 lmao
@vulc75006 жыл бұрын
It's not so much that Eminem's track was weak, it was just a different approach because of who was attacking him. It was a strong diss track towards the person it was intended to go to. Of course it wouldn't be as good if it was attacking a better lyricist, but that's the thing, if it was attacking a better lyricist it would have been stronger towards that specific opponent. It's like openings in chess, some players you should play different type of openings against. Eminem did the best track he could vs MGK and it slaughtered him. Period. If you change the target, you have to give the benefit of changing the song, so it's just pointless to compare the diss to other rappers because it wasn't intended to be a diss anyone other than MGK.
