Been in recovery myself this is all about the addiction side tying to get Eminen back useing. listening to the voices as they both speak they come together. It's a fantastic double as it can be Eminem and the rap game, but it can also be used for Eminem's addiction. What a double, what fantastic creativity to do this song. I believe it’s his evil alter ego’s talking to him, not the devil. He has a song called Evil Twin with a very similar processes. You can tell the differences between Em and Shady in that song very easily. Highly recommend you check that out.

So this was meant to be the opening track to Relapse, which is preceded by a sketch on the album called Dr West.. after "killing" Slim Shady at the end of When Im Gone, the devil/addiction, essence of the demons that make up Slim Shady (whos also a serial killer in most songs, thats why the chainsaw in the background) but it is taking him over again (hence the album title Relapse) and there's a couple songs on the album where the voice pops up briefly in the background... Also, I just binged a bunch of your Eminem reactions and I think you'd really like and appreciate DMX if you dive past the surface, he has a trilogy of songs that are similar to this, Damien, The Omen: Damien part 2 and Damien 3.. and then "who we be" and "Lord give me a sign" are. solid songs also but Id start there lol but he had addition struggles and a rough life and I put him right next to Eminem and 2Pac with artists that are much deeper than they get credit for

He has several darker songs like this as you've probably noticed. You've already listened to this one and Leaving Heaven. Not Afraid if you watch/listen closely again has a connection as well and other songs have some lines too. There's also 25 To Life, Rain Man or 3AM you can check out. Even Crack A Bottle or Monster maybe. When you piece it together there's definitely an underlying issue with alcohol and drugs, one of many themes, as well as the fame itself, but I would argue there's also the dialog with the devil and though he's an expert at doubles I'd personally take it literally. But that's not a conclusion I came to overnight and to a degree it's based on interpretation and belief. However, the more artists you listen to the more you start to see an unpleasant pattern - all the big cats talking about selling their soul, the devil, lucifer, rain, etc. and not just in songs, but with a straight face in interviews as well. From award shows to music videos and concerts. It's honestly daunting. But it's not a rabbit hole for everyone. Still, eventually one manages to overcome a certain disappointment and look past that to still appreciate at least the raw talent these people bring. Especially with Em with the baggage and diversity.

A little context: Em has 3 persona's. Slim Shady, Eminem and himself as Marshall. This song if I remember is from Relapse Album. He was on drugs and more for a very long time and got caught up with it. You could say its the devil on his shoulders trying to get him to get back on the sauce for his career. He disappeared for a few years and it caused alot of issues even for people that work for him in the industry. So when he came back, he was a bit of a mess. Created songs that were arguably subpar and him just being a dragon with a nail in foot attacking everyone's character. Em became what he hated. You could also say the devil is Slim Shady trying to get him back to the "old self" where it tears up people. He also almost died. So alot happened in between that even in some others songs beside this and you heard it too Larry over time where in the song "Bad Guy" at the end of the song where the devil was trying to speak through him and his mistakes but arguably it is also him fighting his demons. The Relapse Album is like a horrorcore kind of rap album. He is a chainsaw welding mass murderer who is killing people or talking about the subject. Especially the song 3Am and another that goes with that song too. The song is a prelude to what was to come. In the end, he beat his demons but a hint of them always come back, ready to destroy anyone in the rap game. When Em sleeps. Leave him alone. He is a dragon needing his sleep. When people try him like Cannabus and Nick Cannon which I highly recommend his laughable rap diss's to Em for dissing Mariah Carey but is actually still a fan. 😂 Benzino and MGK. Heck he diss so many people that its hard to keep up. Even for me. So imagine all those things you do coming back to haunt you and you had to make a choice: Em either deciding to quit rapping for good or keep going and find a new way to cope. Which is why he speed raps for a certain amount of songs shortly after that. He couldn't rap anymore due to his condition. He had to relearn how to rap and live again after getting clean. Chopping/speed rapping is a great way to process pronunciation and he needed to work fast on himself. Recover album, Revival, Kamikaze, Music To Be Murdered By Album. People dissed him for Recovery even though it was a nice album. People dissed him for Revival being wack because it was soft and too weak even though he was also spilling his heart out on some songs. That got him Pissed. He came back at them with Kamikaze Album and started mass slaughtering diss's towards tons of rappers and the new generation and some of his haters including MGk which is properly still a fan of Em's and you saw what happened there lol. Music To Be Murdered By Side A and B album is the last one he did so far and it was amazing on both fronts. He played Possum with Kamikaze and got people riled up and then dropped two albums very quickly shortly after that. My god that was a crazy year. Never mess with the sleeping giant. He been through enough and those demons are always tryin' him which i feel bad for Em. In the end, he is trapped on the throne with his daughters and people he loves. Its hard not to love the guy
