I will never get tired of watching people react to this song. But I always say, the most overlooked line is the one about his lyrics being "tongue in cheek". Because so many people take a lot of his lyrics too literally. He's often accused of being homophobic, but those same people ignore the fact that he's super close to Elton John, who actually helped him get clean. You should watch their live performance of Stan at the Grammys. It's considered one of the most epic live performances in Grammy history. A lot of the references he's making about other rappers were the people he listened to who inspired him; people he studied to become the Rap God he is today. Thus, the visual references to the Matrix downloading knowledge a la "I know kung fu." This song is an instruction manual for those few with the talent to follow in his footsteps. Edit: Don't worry about picking up on all the lyrics and the doubles, triples, and even quads throughout. I have heard this song probably 100s of times and i just caught that when he says "when u combine up here with the skin color of mine" hes not just saying he was held back by race but also speaking on how he got so much bigger than all the other rappers because of his race, another new em double for me

And in turn it also got him in more hot water because it put a bigger spotlight on him too (hence the lines that follow about getting censored on the Columbine references). So being a white rapper got him cut down in the black community in a lot of ways (especially early on but there are still people in the black community that look at him a token white guy), boosted him up in the white community and also put everything he said under a microscope. Other rappers were saying things that were just as controversial, but his lyrics got banned and got him kicked off radio channels and MTV. He was kicked around a lot for just who he is. Luckily he had the backing of Dre and that gave him a lot of cred.
