As I watched the video again along with you, it kinda clicked in my mind that maybe the music video rewinding is symbolic of how things could've gone differently now that Em has hindsight (hence why he was in the back seat of the car & at the bar) but that's just my interpretation.
@trevor35752 жыл бұрын
How I always took it was just him doubting himself and thinks he isn’t worthy of everything he can give so he plays out the whole scenario of this relationship that goes bad and he gets so hurt he’ll have to kill her because he’ll get too attached he can’t live without her. It’s all played in his head which is why he’s back in the car, the relationship never happened because he psyched himself out from the beginning

You'll learn along the way to recognize that Em doesn't only have double and triple entendres in his bars, but also entire songs that are doubles or triples. Just like you've seen with Darkness. This one I take as a prime meaning to be about relationships, but underneath it's also about his drug addiction and possibly even his love for the rap game. You can hear this in the second verse where he says "I'll do whatever it takes, when I'm with i get the shakes, my body aches when I ain't with you, i have zero strength"

A place where we were allowed to have the radio on, bring our own music etc… well some one was playing My name is, but being a Catholic school the teacher went ballistic and banned it. Well off course I was curious why the teacher banned it. I bought it listened to it n from that moment on I was hooked. I know that story hasn’t much to do with this song, I just wanted to share how I started my Eminem journey, how his music evolved through the years. I’m glad you’re enjoying his journey. I’d love to see your reaction to his more comical songs, like “ Without me “ “The Real Slim Shady “ “just lose it”….there’s a lot more off course, but they my fave 3 comical songs by Eminem. 👍👍👍👍👍 for your reaction

But I remember just sitting on the steps of my porch and crying and crying and crying. I remember my mom came out one night, she didn't say a word. She just put her arms around me and let me cry. It's metaphorical with Em... it's rarely ever literal...When he says "I blew my brains out for you on your lap im laying here bleeding" means he let everything in his head spill out onto her lap.... as in getting so close to someone so much you basically metaphorically blew your brains out and bled on them.... and then the resentment kicks in "im trying to stop you from breathing" where you try to stop them from being happy without you.... you get selfish and try to hurt them hoping it'll make them insecure enough to stay with you. but the reality is if you truly know they'll be happier without you then you have to let them go. it's the most painful thing in the world.....

Hey! This is my take on it: the video plays on a suicide theory that if you take your life, you have to live in an afterlife that is just constantly replaying the situations that lead up to the action of doing it. So you see Eminem in the car as a ghost in the first part sitting in the backseat having to watch himself go through this experience and when it rewinds you understand he is stuck in this state of constantly having to relive this experience. Hope that helps!

So, let's find out in order why the video deserves at least eleven out of ten possible points. The first shots - the marshal is walking along the road and meets a wolf, at night, alone in the forest. What would a normal person do if something like this happened to him? The first thought that comes to mind would be to run away, the second would be to crap out of fear. One way or another, Marshal does not react to the animal, which gives us a hint: Eminem is not alive - it's only his spirit. Further, a car stops near him, and he gets inside. But he does not sit alone. Two Marshals sit down at once. Somewhere I happened to read a comment that this is Eminem and his alter his Slim Shady. The guess is close to the truth, but this one is not. As already mentioned, Marshal is only a spirit, in other words, his soul sits in the back seat of the car, while he himself is in the front seat, or rather the memory of how he once got into this very car. If you look closely at the part of the clip where Marshal is reading while inside the car, it becomes clear that his spirit is reading, and not himself. Marshal from the front seat did not read a word. It is also clearly visible how he swears both at the girl and at himself. Words when he refers to himself: “walk down all this road alone. Frozen as snow, show no emotion" The words when he addresses himself to a girl: “Don’t ask me:“ Why I have no love for this motherfucking hoes! ”” By doing this, he tries to shout to himself, as if saying: “Stop! What are you doing, this bitch is not worth your suffering. You are alone and this is your destiny The next moment, the spirit disappears from the back seat of the car. Short conclusions of the first part of the clip: 1. Marshal remembers how he fell in love. 2. The soul of the Marshal warns him that he would abandon this venture because "this bitch is not worth it" Part two Some time has passed (a year, maybe more - the point is that they are already dating and he loves her very much). They arrive at a cafe and get out of the car. Once inside, we are shown the marshal splitting up. The first goes to the girl - the second to the bar. The meaning of this scene is very simple - Marshal's soul continues to remember and watch as Marshal comes up to her and sits opposite. The girl is sitting with the phone and texting someone. Having finished, she goes to the toilet - Marshall, saying: "there are no limits beyond which I could not go for you," climbs into her purse for the phone. Looking at the screen, she realizes that she has someone. That is, in other words, we are shown how he understands that he is being cheated on. Before she returns, Marshal manages to hide the phone. When they leave the cafe, Marshal's soul looks around with longing in his eyes to follow himself, but does not leave the cafe. Short conclusions of the second part of the clip: Marshall recalls how he realized he had been abandoned. Part Three They go into the motel room together. And now comes the main point, which for some reason no one especially noticed. We carefully look at the frame (06:52) The director draws our attention to the fact that the marshal has closed the outer door. Further down the line, Marshall enters the room, looks at his girlfriend, and listens to see if anyone is outside. Hearing a rustle, he rushes to the door and scans the area outside the motel room. Now notice the outer door is open. No, it's not the director's fault - it's a trick that is the key to the entire video. After making sure that there is no one on the street, Marshal returns to the room and begins to choke his girlfriend, so that after a moment he realizes that his hands are empty. Explanation of what really happened. So, as we already understood, the video tells the story of two characters: the real Marshal and his soul. We also realized that there is a strange door in the video, which seems to be completely useless. This very door makes us understand that Marshal is going crazy: once, a long time ago, he was already in this room with his girlfriend. They spent the night in it and left. On the other hand, there is Marshall, who himself, in his thoughts, returns to this hotel in order to strangle his love, just to prevent her from leaving. Those. two events took place: 1 He Actually Closed The Door When They Were Together 2. Now it just seems to him that he closed the door, but he has no girlfriend for a long time Looking at his hands, Marshal realizes that reality and his own fiction are mixed up in his head. Images flash through his head, how he was abandoned, how he saw a phone with someone else's number, that he had not been together with his girlfriend for a long time and all that he had left was just memories. Unable to bear all this, he shoots himself in the head. Then the clip does not end - the director is trying to convey a very deep thought to us with this shot. Em shoots himself in the head while at the motel, gun in hand. A few seconds later, we are shown the bar counter of the cafe, behind which Marshal is sitting with a bullet through his head, mind you: he does not have a gun. Where did the bullet come from? 1. We already know that the soul of the deceased marshal sits behind the bar. 2. A shot in the head of the soul shows that the girl, with her departure, killed not only his body, but also his soul. Part four As you all know, before death, a person's whole life flashes before their eyes, which the director demonstrates to us. But then again, if you look closely, you can understand that the fourth part of the video is so sad that tears involuntarily well up. Marshall's life begins to flash before him. But it does not reach his birth. The scrolling of life stops just at the moment when he met this girl. And it all starts again: he gets into the car, they drive down the road, and so on. - thus, the director tells us that this girl was everything to him: his love, his life, his soul. Leaving him, she killed not only the body, but also his soul, and now the Marshal, even after his death, experiences the same thing - his soul will never rest in peace.

My feeling on the video is that he loves intensely, doesn't like to admit it, then meets a random woman who helps him out. In the timespan of a short drive and a cup of coffee, he's already going through her phone, then shoots himself. I feel he goes through this "relationship scenario" mentally with every woman he meets, and I know a few people who do that as well. The woman only gave him a ride, and he assumes the relationship is doomed before it is even a relationship, a very toxic trait. I feel the lyrics are separate from the video though, just my take on this. Great reaction!

Great reaction! You should also do Bad husband from Em, such a great underrated song.

My comprehension of this song was that he was so scared of what he was feeling for the woman he wrote about. Scared that he would lose himself like he did with Kim. That it would be scary, unhealthy, tragic. That he'd just end up losing her, and losing himself in her. To me it's a complete fear song- but his feelings were so strong he knew he had to try again (getting back in the car) because something about her gave her an inkling of hope. P.s I cried envisioning you in your sons room. Sometimes the act of doing nothing- is everything.

My interpretation of this song is deep. The chorus is essentially describing his transition from earth to Heaven. Yet this song has 3 acts in the beginning it's a guy falling in love but sort of getting put in the friend zone. 2nd act is the same guy now dating the woman he loves but she shows him no love back. The 3rd act same guy is now the ex and can't stand seeing her happy. He goes there thinking he is going to kill her but instead takes something she loves away from her. Before blowing his brains out he says while looking up at the night's sky think about me when you see the stars. He essentially inflicted the pain of you can never look at the night sky again without thinking about the pain you caused me. This song Eminem reached a level that puts him on par with Shakespeare for love tragedies.

All the reactions to this song, when he talks about "I'm trying to stop you from breathing", are almost the same. You're probably the only one with the look like "Its crazy, but I get it. when someone is hurt that bad, their mind goes to some dark places. Almost no one acts on it but that's where your heart and mind is. He pulls himself away from it because he knows it's wrong but can't live with it.

Your story got me teary.. my turn. I was the kid who had his heart broken at 14.. I mean.. her dad wanted me to surprised her by waiting in her closet on our anniversary with flowers, but she comes in on the phone with a different guy she was on a date with. Not leaving my room for days, crying until was so exhausted I’d sleep between crying. Contemplating suicide.. luckily, my mom was the most relatable person in my life and talked to me. If I didn’t have her but had access to a firearm, my memorial would’ve been over a decade old already. Life moves on, but it doesn’t feel like it at the time.

I hope you can laugh back at these moments now... you hid in her closet? that's creepy AF and I can't imagine the awkward moment when you walked out knowing she was cheating on you. did you have to run out of the house? did you confront her? when you said "not leaving my room for days" I pictured you just staying in the closet for days lol
@AiiRv2 жыл бұрын
@@wushdishmeen no, it was set up with her dad as a surprise and I had flowers. She walked in on the phone talking about the date she just had. Today it’s irrelevant in life. Lol, this is a girl who’d climb through my window after a fight while I was asleep, we were toxic. But we talk to this day.

I'm pretty sure this song is about Eminem's uncle Ronnie. The same one who was referenced in Stan and Cleaning Out My Closet.
