Not one of his albums is bad. Each was crafted under specific circumstances and at a specific point in Eminem's life and each echoes this context. Each has its strong points and weak points. Some are more polished and tight overall than others (MMLP, Eminem Show), but nothing is flat out bad. For example I understand MMLP is viewed as a high point and deservingly so, but I don't listen to the album at all. I've heard the songs from that album so many times as a teenager, it's just boring to me. Eminem Show the same. The one I actually keep going back to the most is Encore, because I just enjoy the "give no fucks" attitude Eminem has on that album. Songs like Puke, Rain Man and Ass Like That just make me laugh, plus I always found Mockingbird his most emotionally moving song. And I understand full well that Encore isn't the best album of his, but currently it's one I enjoy the most. So it's all individual preference that changes as the years go on. Like Eminem's opinion - right now, he thinks Relapse is worse than Encore, in a few years he might be at a different place and think different.

I personally think Revival is his worst album, but also I agree with you that Relapse is his best. - He flips syllables and uses them to rhyme whole sentences. - He takes storytellin to a WHOLE other level with how each verse has it’s own feel. - He used some of Dre’s best production he’d ever created up to that point, and is still among his best work to this day. - And the accents actually made the album. Em may think they were cringe but they delivered the bars more sharply than most of his other songs. The only reason it’s not a 10/10 is because of Beautiful. While I like the hook I think Em dragged out his verses too long on that song, and Jeff Bass’ beat isn’t as good as the rest of Dre’s considerin Dre did the other 14 outta 15 tracks. But still, it’s right there tied if not winnin over The Marshall Mathers LP.

Relapse is the most unique album he’s ever made. Production wise and lyrically. There’s no other album like it. I used to kinda avoid it for that reason, but I’ve grown to appreciate a lot of the tracks. Love how the album is basically one big drug induced nightmare until he wakes up near the end. I feel like Eminem played relapse back somewhere within the first relapse year of releasing it and has had his opinion of it be so negative and hasn’t heard it ever since. The thing about relapse is that it literally seemed like it’s own universe the serial killer vibe was deeply methodical as if he embodied the role completely it was a distinct phase he was in where his elite rapping ability had become too good it was almost like he was making a satire by complicating it further and making these unreal rhyme schemes using accents and over the top store telling that if you go back and read the lyrics was more conceptually dense then you’d realIze on the first listen (some songs not so much) Also the production was on point. You have to appreciate it as it’s own form of artistic expression to rate it then you realize what he did was definitely ridiculous but also very creative and musically elite at the same time.

It goes this for me: 10. Infinite - It has an awful production so I can’t really enjoy it, but it isn’t that bad. Favourite track: Infinite/ Least favourite track: Never 2 far. 3/10 9. Relapse - On most of the songs he doesn’t say a shit. A lot of corny lines. Awful accent and voice. Good beats, though. Fav track: Beautiful/ Least fav: My mom. 3,5/10 8. Revival - Corny lines, bad rock - rap beats and some bad guest features. Fav track: River/ Least: Heat. 4/10 7. Encore - Bad lyricism again, bad and boring beats, but the best songs on Encore are better than the best songs on Relapse and Revival. Period. Fav track: Mockingbird and Like toy soldiers/ Least: My 1st single. 4,5/10 6. Recovery - A great comeback after relapse. It is lyrically good, but got some bad beats. Fav: Space bound/ Least: On fire. 7/10 5. Kamikaze - Some of his best flows and rhyme schemes. Great guest features except Jessie Reyez. Fav: Lucky you or The Ringer/ Least: Nice guy. 8/10 4. SSLP - Just a classic. Fav: Just don’t give a fuck: Least: Cum on everybody. 8,5/10 3. MMLP - A great mix between Marshall and Shady. Fav: Stan or the The way i am/ Least: Kim. 9/10 2. MMLP2 - His most personal album. Great lyricism, flow, rhyme schemes and production. I prefer it more than the MMLP1 because it doesn’t have a song bad like Kim. Fav: Bad guy, Legacy and Brainless. Least: Stronger then i was. 9,5/10 1. The Eminem Show - Just his best work in my opinion. I think that Eminem doesn't truly dislike Relapse. It seems to me that because of the initial response to Relapse at the time of release that he wants to be perceived as disliking it so as to not lose respect within the hip hop community. It makes sense as he was actually planning on releasing Relapse 2 but then scrapped it due to the criticisms of his accents and such. If that's not the case, and he truly hates it, then he's crazy. @O ab First off, the second half of Encore is way better than the first half considerin all the better comedic songs on that album start with Rain Man, secondly, how in the fuck does Encore shit on Relapse?! Most of the songs on the first half are incredibly dragged out with their verses, and not inna good way whatsoever. As for the second half, while those comedic tracks are legendary, they don’t even have ONE SPEC of the type of lyricism on the whole album of Relapse. Relapse is a concept album and it stands out amongst the rest of his projects because Em literally had to learn to rap again after he got sober, and once he did that, he gave 110% (pun intended) into his first project back. Last I checked Em doesn’t flip syllables & rhyme whole sentences on Encore, whilst goin into great detail about the character he’s playin through storytellin. I recommend you go back and listen to Relapse at least 3-4 times. I myself wasn’t into it at first either, but once you pay attention to what he’s sayin and focus on how well crafted it’s bars are, your opinion will most likely change 180 degrees.

I say this often, if you just take the whole middle third of Encore away and replace it with the 3 bonus tracks, it’s an album on par with the first 3. First Single, Rain Man, Big Weenie, Just Lose It… replace with Love You More, We As Americans, Ricky Ticky Toc = masterpiece album, with the only joke song being Ass Like That. It takes away the phone call skits foreshadowing the ending but it’s just a tighter and more cohesive album musically.
