Undeniable. In his first era and at his peak, Em was my favorite rapper for a good few years, he was freakishly interesting and creative, with ☠️skill and an obsession with his craft LEVELS above the rest. There were few rappers with those skills, charisma, storytelling, and most importantly work ethic, even outside the mainstream, let alone right in the centre of it. I dont wanna hear about 2pac, Biggie cos they were a different generation, even though almost the same ages. And JayZ was critically and commercially a star but nothing like the juggernaut Em was, Jays legacy was much more quietly achieved over time. Really only DMX came close with huge hits and talent to match at the time. And Outkast, my fave rap group, but their era weirdly seems both older and tounger cos they started before Em but biggest succes came later with Stankonia. Em gets flogged as if he fluked a couple good albums and everything else since been rubbish but Slim Shady and Marshall Mathers lp, 8 mile road album and movie, the features he did back then and the stuff he did with 50, not to mention dragging D12 to platinum status waa crazt. How BIG he did it all means hes forever a goat. It will never be taken from him. I didnt even include Eminem Show cos I find that often cringy now Im older. Kendrick had similar seismic impact but did it so differently. Section 80 was perfect, again, some of the best rapping and storytelling youll hear on a album/mixtape. GOOD kid was stunning first time you heard it. It was really a whole concept album that worked like a movie. Made chilled out songs, heartfelt tributes to fam and friends, ratchet shit like backseat freestyle that still sounds like nothing else. And he wasnt the same degree of pop juggernaut but one thing he did that Eminem couldnt was make some of his truly deep and soulful songs work as worldwide hits, without trying. Em always played the game with singles. Ive grown out of Em mostly cos even though technicallly his rapping got even more proficient his actual songwriting were almost never at that level again. And I mostly stopped listening to Kendrick in the same way after TPIB. I personally was already sick of p-funk and jazz in rap music. Unmastered similar obvs. But Damn was pretty great. Both artist so good at rapping that I think it makes them less capable of choosing truly great beats though. Early on they both used such good beats but i think are too focused on rapping to be elite best pickers. In terms of rappers who we used to call 'conscious' theres only really Kendrick at the top these days to me though.

Only real people can give real compliments and I believe Em is one of those real ones. He doesn't necessarily has to be right, but if he truly feels that way and believes it and also admits it, then there's no questions, dude is as real as can be. That's my truth and I'm sticking to it.

Kendrick is historic. I mean STUDY-WORTHY in an academic sense. His music is exploratory, diving into topics that are hard to comprehend unless your soul understands what's going on in the world we live in. He's deep. And not a lot of rappers are deep. They're gimmicks. They're clowns and they're goons. Kendrick is soul-searching deep. He's the kinda deep that makes you realize your life is more important than your job....that your existence is more important NOW than it has ever been, because you are the change needed for the world around you. Stop asking for change and BE THAT CHANGE.

Thank you. I hope enough Em Sicarios read this & comprehend just why Kendrick is simply the most consistently vital rapper to do it. And by consistently vital, I mean *introspection, artistic vision, activism & social commentary* BEFORE we even get on to the Saiyan tier cadences, schemes and lyrical play.
@MicDropBBQ2 жыл бұрын
@@thetrickisirarelyrespond5945 Facts! A lot goes into his lyricism and word play. So much more than just buzzwords and gimmick punch lines. You gotta isten to his lyrics for months to finally figure out the multiple meanings to just ONE VERSE sometimes! I watch KZbin and get breakdowns on lyrics and be like WOW...NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT! Shit be deep, man.

Yeah I remember being in middle school listening to em recently after he released lose yourself. Back when you needed a cd player and something like lime wire to download the songs. I actually bought 8 mile and 50s album with in da club. Damn thing would skip after a bump. I would cut a hole in my hoody pocket and have the headphones go through because we weren't allowed to have any electronics. Em and 50 cent were a staple for me. It's kind of funny when I think back, I used to think I knew what he was taking about but when I listen again I think of all the stuff I didn't have a clue. I was about 12 and it's not like I could just google what the stuff was. I felt just like em sitting on the bus being the only white kid too. 😂

People who don't listen to Kendrick that deeply but are into rap/hip-hop don't seem to have basic comprehension skills. He is in a league of his own. Nobody writes like he does, nobody is as clever as he is, nobody touches issues like he does, nobody has that level of killer music and production to back his words like he does. He is art.
