Love the comparison. I always felt like the Triple Rect sounds aggressive in the high mids, the V30 brings it out even more, then add a SM57, which also is aggressive in the high mids and it just becomes too much. That DV-77 sounds like it'll be great to dial back some of that harshness I don't like in that Triple Rect setup. Overall I don't believe the DV-77 is a replacement for the V30. I think they just pair very well together. Both speakers sound dull in comparison by themselves. The combo of the two sounds a lot more rich and complex. I definitely want to add one to my setup. They sound so different . I find celestion have a thinner fizzier saturated sound. Where eminence tend to feel tighter thicker and drier . Eminence have more bite without the extra fizz cloudiness. That being said I’m so used to celestion speakers. I like the grind of the eminence more but I also feel celestion have a slinkyness they works well with riffs. The eminence feels stiffer . I have a blackstar am with an eminence and man that’s a great satisfying aggressive sound . But I also have a blackstar with celestions and it sounds a bit rounder and saturates well. It’s a tough choice . I wonder what the db output is on both? I forget. I feel maybe I’d want to have the eminence be significantly quieter than the celestion speakers , that way I could get the density and grind of the eminence but it doesn’t overpower the celestion . I feel it the eminence sound is too obvious it will be a bit disjointed sounding. Like tightness ( eminence )but then a weird fizz (Celestion ) around it . I would want to try the celestion as a main sound and then the eminence as the core of the sound . I think humbuckers in general get a lot more fizz with celestions. They have that scooped tone with high end lift with can easily translate to fizzyness with lots of gain.

Thank you! I miss that room so much right now. I'm out of town for a month on business.

@@InTheSh8 thank you. I really appreciate that. Since I'm out of town on business, I will still be trying to do as much content as I can from my airbnb. As soon as I get home, I'm gonna start doing more videos from there.

It's funny how with the DV-77 the guitar sounds a bit like Slipknot :))) If this speaker becomes the new standard all metal will sound like Slipknot. Which could be a good or a bad thing. I have to get one too!

I think Vintage 30s have a harsh midrange. But that usually translates into being heard better. Tone is subjective. No matter how much you craft your tone, the FOH engineer is going to pick and choose the frequencies the audience will hear.
@TONEWARSgearshow3 жыл бұрын
That mid spike has made the V30 famous and stand out in mixes for a long timm. when it's balanced with a darker speaker, I think it sounds great.
@voxpathfinder15r3 жыл бұрын
@@TONEWARSgearshow sure they sound awesome balanced by another speaker. But I think when you’re performing, at least old style stage performances. The frequencies from the other band members where the balancing effects. Sounds spiked by itself, but blended in a band sounds great. Look at Jazz guitarists, always trying to sound dark. Every time I sat and watched a jazz band - the guitar tone just absolutely disappeared

I replaced the two bullshit speakers that came in my 212 evh stealth stock with eminence d77 and oh my god this is the sound I’ve been looking for all my life so clear and solid and aggressive I don’t like them together with a v30 I like two dv 77s together and this is using my 50 watt stealth I can’t wait to plug in my marshall jvm 50 watt and my engl fireball 100

Hello friend from Great Russia! I'll tell you how I play without changing speakers in a Mesa 412 cabinet: I like to play old school death metal with two amps in one Mesa 412 cabinet. One in a pair of 4 ohms and the other amp in another pair of 4 ohms speakers. Versatility is beyond praise! And you don't need to change speakers. Just tune one amp fatter and the other drier and it will always be an unforgettable experience! I play on: mesa triple rectifier rev.G mod pot gain 1MΩ mesa mark IV rev.A 1991 Peavey Triple xxx. Guitar: Dean Explorer Z Amber Custom (time capsule)

The gain on the amp is so saturated it’s hard to make a good comparison.

V30 sounds better to me. I would love to hear DV compared to Eminence Legend or Celestion G12K

Not trying to be a jerk or anything, but your tone is way oversaturated and fizzy regardless of which speaker you used. I'd dial the gain back.

You are what you are, whether you are trying or not. You need more confidence in yourself.
@UncleYoshi11 ай бұрын
That's what I thought, too. It also sounded way too flubby. Could be dialed in better with a tad less gain, but maybe these evh amps are super gainy?
@NINERS8able11 ай бұрын
Thats what that type of metal calls for and sits perfect in the mix. I would have a tad more highs mixed in but thats me

@@NINERS8ableHe could fix his tone in little ways. What amp is he using? Off the top of my head, he definitely uses Chinese or Russian tubes. You gotta track down new old stock or used old tubes. Not cheap preamp tubes.
