It definitely has that feel and sound. That said, it has its own voicing. It's a great amp.

I love the VX100... I know folks say it needs a presence control (it could definitely add something to the amp for sure), but there are other ways to get the treble you need....post eq for instance. But it is super tight on the bottom end, perfect for chug life

Thanks for commenting. Yeah I hear what you're saying here. I've done that before. I put a 10-band EQ in the loop and nudged I think the 6K frequency and it made a big difference. It only took a little bit as well.

The lynx has a boomy low end with my cabs. I run either the dirty tree or the king in yellow. Just to get that boomyness out. That Kraken sounds great with or without the boost.

Does it help to cut the bass to 0 setting?

@HECKLA_x_SCARSCLUB Yes, some, but it's just trying to find that happy medium with the low end , but not to where it's to boomy. If I use a compressor at 60 to 80 hrz, it helps to take out that boomieness out of the palm mutes without cutting its balls off. I like doing that then to EQ everything. Just my personal preference.

In a comparison with an Engl amp the winner for me is mostly Engl. Has it's own sound and gain structure. Great amps.

I think you may have the coolest amp rig background on youtube guitar channels. It looks good wrapped around in a half circle. But ya the Kraken sounded the best. this would be a pain in the ass to do, but it would be awesome to hear all of your amps back to back for the sake of being able to scroll through the video and A/B them. I bet the Splawn or the Stealth would win.

I actually did do a comparison video between all of my amps a year and a half ago or so. I think I called it March Madness or something like that. Feel free to look it up.

I walked into GC yesterday and tried a Bad cat hot cat 45 and was pleasantly surprised. I’m hearing that Lynx has even more gain and low end. Might grab that one as its a bit more affordable too

Got the Super Kraken.Need repair because it make a lot of unplaisant noise (Pretty sure a tube issues). But gosh I love it. What I love is that the channel 2 is like a 5150 and a mesa mark make love and make a baby (The chunkyness of the 5150 and the tighness of a mesa mark). For the lack of presence, it is not a deal breaker but if someone can mod it to add that I would absolutely do that.

The Kraken sounds tight and fat! Saving for a EVH 5150 Stealth 100 at the moment, can't wait! Might have to look into getting that Kraken as well while I'm at it, thanks for the videos.

I bought a used super kraken first, because it was supposed to be like a 5150 and a jcm 800, and I hated it. Sounded nothing like any of the videos. I thought it was defective, so I sold it and bought a brand new super kraken, it sounded the same. I don't know if I was just unlucky or what, but it was always bad. After going through 2 of the super krakens, I bought a 5150 50w stealth, was miles better. And surprisingly great clean channel as well, great all around amp. I wish I liked the kraken, but I just don't.

One you might want to try is the Laboga Mr. Hector. Less expensive and both channels are better all the way around then the 5150 in my opinion

@@jamesmoses4066 I recently bought a Mesa Badlander and installed the Mr Scary mod, it sounds amazing! I am definitely getting the 5150 stealth first thing, that one is a no brainer! I have 2 Mesa OS 412 cabs as well as 2 Randall cabs with Eminence GB128s and Eminence Swamp Thangs so I have a pretty decent set of options.

I will definitely be getting the EVH 5150 Stealth 100 next, can't wait to see what kind of tones I can get with my ABY switch. I originally wanted the EL34 version of the 5150 iii but I think the Stealth has a way better clean channel and the driven channels are a bit heavier and thicker from what I have heard on youtube. Been playing over 30 years and the Badlander was my first tube amp so I'm super excited to try the 5150!
