Honestly, I’m tired of answering this question, so I’ll do it one last time here and pin this comment. This video isn’t about Amanda. It’s about all the reasons you can be fired from Emirates. Her case is an example of two topics: breaking social media rules and how you can be fired because of your colleagues’ actions. Even covering those two topics, her case makes up less than 20% of the video. If we’re talking about someone bringing others down, I’m not the reason someone lost their job. No, I don’t support her actions, and I hope no one else is inspired by her behavior, filming something “not approved but viral” to gain popularity at the expense of someone else getting in trouble or even fired. If I wanted to criticize Amanda directly or gain attention from her story, I would have made a video just about her, put her face in the thumbnail, titled it something like “Amanda King: The Reason People Lost Their Jobs, but She Doesn’t Care,” and repeated her name in the description to optimize it for those searching for her videos. But I’ve done none of that-her name isn’t in the title, description, or thumbnail. This video is about all the reasons Emirates might fire a crew member, and her case is just a fitting example. And I’m tired to explain it.

That feeling of “I know something’s wrong, but I can’t quite put my finger on it” 😁 Even people without an aviation background could sense something wasn’t right. Now, imagine how furious Emirates must have been about that video. But unfortunately, it was her colleagues who faced the consequences, not Amanda 😕

I watched that video with the cake and I was SHOCKED at what she and her BF showed. I GASPED when she showed where she stores the key to the doors and even with knowing nothing about aircraft, I KNEW this was wrong. Showing the crew rest area and also baking the cake...I just couldn't believe it. I am glad she resigned because that behavior and irresponsibility is not acceptable, not to mention the fire risk with those baking things. However, seniors being fired due to her that is just sad and unfair. What a shame!

@@WeirdVicky You bring up a good point, but in reality a lot of crew avoid reporting because they don’t want to get their colleagues in trouble, even if someone does something wrong. Wow, I'm shocked. I saw Amanda's video at the time and, as a person who knows nothing about aeroplanes, I honestly found it interesting, but at the same time I couldn't imagine that an airline would just allow it, so I assumed that she got some kind of "permission" to film these things beforehand. Maybe she didn't think she would get her colleagues involved, but she knew she was breaking the rules and just the fact of risking the safety of the passengers and crew for views leaves me speechless.

There are some official behind-the-scenes videos about our job, but they are quite short, filmed by Emirates, and posted on Emirates’ official social media. These videos show the full process, even including parts from the briefing room. They are not only approved by Emirates but also organized by the Emirates marketing department and use the Emirates promotion team. Amanda’s video is not something that would ever get permission. First of all, because of the safety violations (boyfriend in the CRC, baking a cake, etc.). Secondly, it’s not about Emirates, it’s about Amanda. Lastly, the quality-sneaky footage taken so seniors don’t see what she’s filming. Unfortunately, that video ended up ruining someone’s career (and not Amanda’s)

the acne thing is crazy. Aren't emirates cabin crew supposed to wear full face makeup all the time? that actually causes breakouts.
@JetstreamGinger
@JetstreamGinger 28 күн бұрын
Yes, we always have to wear full makeup, with foundation being mandatory, and it’s true that this can sometimes lead to breakouts. From what I’ve heard, if the Image and Uniform Officer isn’t satisfied with how your skin looks, they can send you to a dermatologist for tests and treatment. If it doesn’t improve, there’s a possibility they could terminate your contract, but the acne would have to be quite severe for that to happen. I’ve had occasional breakouts, but I managed to cover them with makeup, so it was never an issue for me. Fortunately, this isn’t something they do often. But still crazy that it might be a reason for termination of the contract 😬
@stellameii

@@JetstreamGinger thank you for the detailed answer. I'm just surprised because foundation clogs the pores very often and many people with clear skin actually get bad skin when they wear makeup. Also the flight attendant schedule disrupts the circardian rhythm, which can lead to hormonal imbalances that can cause breakouts sometimes. I actually wanted to go join Emirates for a while but there are too many reasons for me not to do it. Also I start college next year and when I finish, I'm gonna be over 26 which is too old for them as far as I've heard

I found all these rules by Emirates WONDERFUL and MUCH NEEDED. First thing first, it's a job. Do your job and leave. There is no need to create a mess, risk and unwanted things for the company. It's about an aircraft, and people flying in it. Its EXTREMELY SENSITIVE AND DANGEROUS TO DO MISTAKE. I think the rules should be even more strict. This is nothing. @JetstreamGinger
@JetstreamGinger 28 күн бұрын
No, you can report sick up to 3 times a year, and each instance can vary in length-it could be just 1 day or 14. As long as you don’t exceed 3 sick reports or 14 sick days total in a year, you’re in the clear. For example, if you take 10 consecutive sick days, you’re fine. But if you report sick 5 times for just 1 day each, you can expect a call from your manager 😁 I once tore a ligament in my elbow and had to take 45 days off to recover. Even though I didn’t get capability (since I had only called in sick 4 times over 5 years), it probably affected my chances for an upgrade with that kind of history in my profile. Unfortunately, many crew are too afraid to call in sick at Emirates because of the strict policy, which leads to people flying while unwell-something that definitely doesn’t benefit anyone 😕

I’m not entirely sure what you mean, but I’ll do my best to answer 😅 I used to work for Emirates and after resigning, I returned everything required, including all my uniform items and passes. Emirates expects you to return the same number of items they initially provided. However, if you need a different size, you may need to purchase certain items yourself. For example, I had hats in two different sizes-S and M-because I wore two different hairstyles. The S was too small for a French twist, while the M was a bit too big for a bun, so I bought the extra size from the company myself. Only the items provided for free had to be returned upon resignation (I have a clearance letter from Emirates, that I returned everything). Some crew members keep a piece of their uniform as a memories, but unfortunately, a few might try to sell items online. However, these cases are exceptions, and it’s unfair to judge the entire crew community based on a few isolated incidents))

I was still with the company when she resigned and posted that video, and so many crew members got into trouble because of it. "mean girl energy" is Amanda filming things she souldn't (like where the keys are stocked, wtf, with terrorists out there these days, we can wonder if she is mad ? showing secret stewards cabin... resigning before posting the video. Sounds calculated. And above all, putting everyone in danger by baking things unallowed on the airplane. ). I hope that since there is proof that she deletes Emirats comments, she will be legally put on trial by the company. She was still working when this unallowed content was filmed. @@MoonBunnyOwO Thanks for your comment)) I get what you’re saying, but the point of Amanda’s story was to show how someone’s actions can get the whole crew into trouble at Emirates. In her case, she filmed a video she wasn’t supposed to (knowing the strict social media rules), broke safety rules (cake, boyfriend in the Crew Rest Compartment), and then posted it after she resigned because she knew it would cause problems. But instead of her, the crew from that flight got in trouble. This video isn’t focused on her, I only spent 2 minutes on the story to cover how breaking policies like this can lead to serious consequences for everyone. Also, since she’s been deleting comments from others involved, it doesn’t look like she’s planning to share the full story. Hope that clears things up))
