If you’re in first and the Residence is empty (it usually is), you can ask a FA if you can look at it. Just tell them that you were thinking of booking it in the future, but you wanted to know if it’s as big as it looks on KZbin. You won’t be able to stay in there for the duration of the flight, but they’ll give you a tour. I don’t think they’re doing that now with COVID and social distancing, but they let me look at it a couple of years ago when I was in first.

I've never experienced Qatar yet. Having worked for Emirates and flown Etihad, I'd say your observations are spot on. I will say Emirates is much better on specific routes. Fly an A380 from Tokyo to Dubai and you'll see Emirates at their best. Shorter or busier routes, maybe less so. Etihad felt the cheapest and least personal, but their aircrafts are comfy and food is excellent.

You can most of the time upgrade to business or first for few hundred euros if you book economy.

Just start doing some vlogs (even just in economy class) and if you make them fun/interesting enough, people will start to follow you. Economy class vids are much more likely to have funny/awkward things happen anyway, so it would be more entertaining than some of the first class videos. Once you get followers, you can get Adsense income and start a Patreon. I personally don't know why people donate their hard earned money so that someone can fly around the world luxuriating in first class seats while they work at some cubicle to earn the money, but it is something a good number of people decide to do. I know some of these travel vloggers earn several thousand a month from Patreon alone. So there are definitely ways to travel in business/first using other peoples' money if you just dedicate the time and energy to do it!

@@rushibhatt1201 It's not really fare to compare redemption fare costs as what a 'mile' gets you on one airline isn't always comparable to what it gets you on another and more importantly there's an 'ease of earning' criteria for all those miles. It might costs you eg $10k in spend to get 50k miles on one airline whereas it might only costs you $5k to earn the same amount of miles on another airline. For those reason ( and trying to keep it simple) that's why using a miles cost comparison rarely works when it's between different airlines/ alliances. Hope this helps explain why, imho, Dan probably didn't using one in this comparison video

Hi Dan. I just got back from a round trip Chicago to Dubai on Emirates First. Had been saving up a lot of points/miles for it. I agree with you completely about Emirates. We truly felt pampered and special. The purser on one of the trips took great attention and care of us. The predeparture coffee and dates immediately put in Middle East mood. The food was probably the best food I’d had at 35,000. The only negative was that they no longer give you a ride to and from the airport if you book on points.

This video is just what I wanted! I like to fantasize about flying in one of the super-luxury first class "roomettes", and I was wondering which of the super-luxury airlines would be more satisfying to imagine. It appears that Emirates wins - and the idea of taking a shower in the sky just blows my mind. So when I"m having trouble falling asleep, I'll imagine the attentive flight attendants on Emirates serving me a delicious meal, and then I put on the pajamas and lie on the spacious and comfortable bed, and tuck myself in under a half a hectare of thick, soft, deep purple velvet coverlet. When I wake up, they'll bring me breakfast in bed, then I'll take a shower and get dressed for whatever my next adventure will be after we land. Not that I'll ever be able to afford to fly Emirates First Class (or any airline's First Class), and not that I want to visit the Middle East, but I can dream, can't I?

Ok Dan, 10 months later, staying at home, I'm going nuts watching the videos of 1st class flying on middle eastern airlines. I'm an Emirates aficionado, and decided to book SFO-DXB-BRU for mid August 2021 in the hopes this pandemic will be under control by then, and Europe will open up again. Especially Paris! I have been fortunate to have flown Emirates First 20 times, and I really miss everything, especially the food (Lounge and Plane). Fingers crossed

My favorite first class product is (which might be a bit controversial) actually La Premiere on Air France. The ground experience at Paris CDG with limo services, private check in area, lounge and a car ride to the plane is incredible and the flight experience feels super special and classy. I hope you'll make a video on it one day.

Even the economy on Emirates when I went from BRU to DPS connecting in DXB and then back. It was the best economy I had been on. I haven't been on many but this was really a lot better than any other I have been like on British Airways (it was the old cabin which was sad as it had an extremely old entertainment system and a very old seat). The economy was better from BRU to DXB than to DPS (Bali). The service was pretty good on the first flight but not so good on the second leg. Otherwise it was very good even in economy.

Dan, I had an awful experience on Qsuites. I may be the only one? But not impressed with QR. Then took flight on B777 and the menu was pretty much the same as previous leg. Return we changed to EK F and that did not disappoint at all.

Yes. We had one bad experience on Qatar Business Class. 1st 3 legs were amazing, but Doha to Adelaide we were in the centre 2 seats of row 9, it was a full flight, and had two very obviously trainee attendants. My husband didn’t get his Pre departure beverage until we were in the air, we were pretty much ignored the whole flight. I actually asked 3 times for the bed pad, then walked up to the galley and collected it myself having lost nearly an hour of sleep waiting. We ordered meals that didn’t arrive, my Gluten Free special order was given to someone else, The whole experience was subpar. Not that it wasn’t good otherwise, but we just didn’t feel we were as pampered as the other 3 legs of our trip.

I flew EK First on two sectors last year and QR on the return sectors in Business. Both EK legs were in the a380 with the 'old' bling product. The seat and suite were comfortable and the amenities, snacks, food and shower experience was fantastic. The crew on the first flight were great. The second leg however, the crew service was dismal at best. It felt cold, scripted and they were generally disinterested. I waited almost 3 minutes for a response pressing the service call button and several more minutes for a simple drink (this was a half full first cabin, if that). Whilst I appreciate it comes down to the individuals, it was a let down from what I expected of EK First Class. Also the old First Class lounge that features in your video was also the one applicable to my flights and it is very dated. QR on the other hand were amazing in all aspects. We played Q-suite roulette and lost. The old 77W product however was still very comfortable, the service and food exceptional. We then flew on the A380 and again could not fault QR. The quality of their service was better than EK First. They were attentive, warm, made conservation (where warranted), were prompt with service and the attention to detail was impressive (especially given the number of pax, it was a full cabin). A lady travelling in front of me was offered champagne and she told the attendant that she had nothing to celebrate, as her husband was travelling on the flight but below deck (he died suddenly on their holiday). The sympathy and care that this crew showed to the lady was nothing short of incredible. I wish I had gotten their names to commend them to QR personally. As a result of my experience with QR in Business. I've booked a leg in First with them later this year. Also the world's best business class (BA First) in the 747, so will be interesting to see how that compares to the ME carriers.

Not having flown either Emirates or Etihad 1st it does seem they are rather better than Qatar, however, just to point out that from what I can see Qatar have by far the better Champagne offering with 2004 Krug, coming in at over £100 more per bottle than the Dom served on Emirates. Also, they do offer Caviar. Perhaps this is new... but they definitely do!!! Can not argue with Dans comments about QR Crew, they are the best of the best! Another great video Dan!!
