Hey, in the wonderful modern world we live in, four countries can join in celebrating Emma's success: Canada (where she was born), Romania (father), China (mother) and the UK (where she grew up and learnt her tennis). She is a breath of fresh air and given the hard work she has put in over the last few years (academically as well as sporting), she deserves the success! I just hope that she continues to work on her game, making those little improvements that will help her to have a long career that we can all enjoy watching!

She’s going to be a target on the tour and opponents will raise their game. Look what happened to Serena after she won her first slam… On the positive side she’s still got a couple of years of growing to do and she’ll get stronger.

@@jamiemassey4840 in some ways she's better than Serena. Emma literally went from 4th round Wimbledon to Slam winner in the space of two months as a qualifier,at this rate,the Australian open title next year is a distinct possibility,if she can stay fit and injury free.

@@jamiemassey4840 It's normal to have a dip after the first slam. Not just Serena a clutch of players have suffered. Pete Sampras comes to mind. Emma has that eye of the tiger though so I wouldn't write her off in the next major but it will be tough for her for sure and maybe easier for Layla if she get's an easier draw which was just a nightmare.

@@guru6831 What nonsense that video is. Even if (and that's a massive if) the MTO wasn't warranted, it's not Emma's fault so to call her a cheat is unjustified. More importantly though, the cut was not minor. You can see it bleeding through later on, it clearly wasn't just shove a plaster on it kind of deal. Let's say they'd done something quick and then Fernandez broke back. Do you now take off the plaster and do a more long term job now? Also, I don't buy that the MTO was what prevented Fernandez from making a massive comeback. We'd already seen many times in the match that momentum wasn't really a thing for them. Who was doing better swung back and forth frequently all match. Even had Fernandez broken then, theirs still a very good chance Raducanu wins still - the stats suggest she was playing slightly better all game.

What a wonderful achievement. I’ve been following tennis for 40 years. My mum was a semi-pro who once played Virginia Wade (and lost) but because of the class system in the U.K. could never break out into the professional ranks. It’s great how things have changed and I hope Emma’s success inspires kids from every background into tennis so we can have many more heroes and heroines in the next generation.

@@grzegorzk1177 I hope she plays Indian Wells next month. It’ll be in interesting test. I wouldn’t expect her to win but it’d be a great experience for her even if she only played the one match. I feel playing away from UK will help though. She doesn’t realistically have to play a big match here until next June/July. That gives her a lot of tournament practice without the bulk of the UK media. So if she can win a couple of smaller tour events and maybe 2nd week of Australian Open or Quarters she would gain confidence. Where ever she comes in Aussie Open she gains points as it’s her first one. Same with French. Can you imagine if she did somehow win Aussie Open though…that’d be crazy. I feel she’ll need to improve a bit though and other players will be watching more. They’ll love her over there though, if she gets a couple of matches in she’ll get crowd support and who knows what she may do.
