Now that I'm one whole year into the school bus conversion, I made a video with timelapses + a tour of the school bus one year ago vs. how it's looking now.

Every week you say something that I don't think you'll ever be able to top, and once again you proved me wrong - "Now I'll buy anything. I'm trying to buy tools I don't even need" !! ❤️❤️❤️

In that world of competency and usefulness, becoming a "tool nut", affecianto, collector, or whatever you want to call it is a symptom or milestone of coming to greatness. Such a person is really handy to have around. Just pretend to want to borrow one of her tools, she'll jump in, figure things out, come up with a better way and impress the hell out of you while she does all the work for you. Her brother's have already shown such signs of the "disease" ! Genetics ? Probably. But she's got it. Imagine ; a pretty girl that can do stuff. Unbelieveable !

I'm a little frustrated that someone would have the audacity to criticize you on any aspect of the build. Advice, yes. You have done an amazing job so far learning and stepping way outside your comfort zone. I would be extremely proud as a father to have a daughter, or son, accomplish what you've done this last year. Keep doing what your doing. Listen to any advice someone gives. Trust, but verify everything someone tells you. And delete any and all comments from the Trolls out there. You'll get there exactly when you're meant to. Good luck.

Sometimes people misunderstand typed words since it's missing about 90% of normal nonverbal communication. People have to type, normally much slower than speaking...so naturally they are shorter and using less words. Then people frequently negatively interpret questions and comments. Then there's other people who are just hyper sensitive and think anything short of jumping up and down excited shouting praise, is being negative...which is simply false. There's tons of reasons comments are misunderstood. Then tons of people Project their experiences, inabilities and shortcomings on others without realizing it. Sometimes they flat out say it "I can't believe anyone would do it like that..." It's not a criticism, it's just broken ignorant people who have no clue. Not everyone can be amazing all the time. I bet every one of them could school you in at least one topic. Even if it is underwater basket weaving while blindfolded. People are just being people and being judgmental in a different way and on a different topic than you are... Sometimes some people are so narcissistic standing on their pedestal they don't even realize they are doing the exact thing they're complaining about. Sometimes people should just keep their mouth shut till they do some self reflection.

When you watch a video every week you don't really see how much the bus has changed. The changes from week to week seems small, but they add up. It was a lot of fun to watch the first 53 videos, I expect it will be even more fun to watch the next year of videos. Have a nice break, have a nice birthday and see you in two weeks.

Watching you grow and gain more confidence has been the most satisfying thing. When you open up your life to public scrutiny, it can be terrifying...but look at you! I was hoping you'd cover the Fuel Tank Fishing Expedition so I could fall out of my chair laughing again but the Electrical Cable On The Roof fiasco was just as funny. I had not seen that before so thank you for adding that in. All in all your Bus Build is pretty entertaining and informative. Not to mention you get the gold star for hanging in like a prize fighting champ going 15 rounds. I've lost count of how many Bus Builds I watch on KZbin that just petered out and the people stopped posting. Or they got tired of the build, sold their bus and moved on to other things. Keep up the great work and I hope we cross paths out there on the road some day.

I bought my bus Feb. 21, 2021, and just celebrated my year anniversary as well. I've watched sooo many bus conversion videos......like soooo many videos. Then I saw a video, I think it was titled "Dumb Dumb buys a bus." It was a great video. I've been quietly cheering you on ever since. My bus build has literally been the most intense project I've ever done and I just wanted to tell you that you are pretty bad ass! You have no idea how much I enjoy watching your progress throughout this project. I think what I enjoy the most is were both building our skoolies at the same time. Never mind the negative commenturds. I get the same crap from people who think I should use a heat gun or eraser wheel. When I can use a steel cup brush on an angle grinder. Yah soon I will be revisiting that part of the build. And I will compare the eraser wheel, a heat gun and goo. Maybe goo gone. And the cup brush. Who am I kidding I'm not going to use goo gone. Lol. If I were going to use any chemical it would be mek. Methyl ethyl keytone I think it stands for. It's the hottest paint thinner I know of. Yes I used to remove stickers and paint things like water towers. Nobody wants to take forever removing decals while hanging from a water tower. If we're gonna paint it anyways why not use a super aggressive approach like a stainless steel cup brush on an angle grinder. If it's on a vehicle with decent paint then a heat gun and plastic scraper and a little mek for goo cleanup. That goo gone is a joke. Can't even hardly remove sticky off of jars let alone a huge area on a bus. I totally get why you went the route you did with your bus. So don't think I'll ever knock it. I will prolly reference your video when I do mine. Just so you know. Also Des the Hobo Travel Nurse a really good friend of mine. She used the eraser wheel. MT Brother of all people bought me two of them. I was really wanting to use that as an excuse to not use one. Lol. But now I have two. Dagnabbit. I'm sure it'll ruin my cordless drills or something. Oh well a video is a video right. Hope to meet you someday your an inspiration. p.s. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! 🥳 🎉 🥳 🍻

I've been here since the beginning! And moved into my own bus a month before you started posting. Your bus looks better than mine, and I wasn't a complete novice. I love your back wall. I wish I painted mine in the beginning, because I still haven't. I will someday put a skylight in inspired by yours. I remembered while watching this video how much I related to your struggles and accomplishments. There are a bunch of parallels in the process (even the wasp invasion), but I also remember my own feeling of zen getting filthy under my bus, and getting some of my sub floor cuts to fit exact. There's something to be said for journaling and learning on our own adventures, but there's something spiritual in opening that up to others, sharing with us and connecting with each other as humans we don't know. So thanks for these videos. I appreciate them on several different levels.

I have looked forward to each new weekly upload to see what you would be doing next, and I have to say, it's been a pretty amazing journey thus far! I will be missing you next week, but you do deserve some time away from the bus. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy 29th Birthday, and I look forward to seeing you again in two weeks!

Hello beautiful, how are you? Wanted to say that I have followed you since day one when you first brought birdie home and was deciding on what to name her. You have come along way and I have enjoyed being there with you and seeing what you have accomplished. I love how you had a lot of trial and error, but always managed to figure it out. Now look at what you have accomplished. She looks amazing and I know when you are finished she is going to be great and it will mean more to you, because you did it. Also, I want to wish you an early Happy Birthday. Hope you and your friend have an amazing time for your birthday. Can't wait to see more of you and your videos. 😋😘💞💕🥀🥀🥀🌹🌹🌹👅👅👅💋💋💋🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

03:04 I've found that the cheap bits start to get chewed up on the little four blades and the bit will not bite as well, and remember you will have drill and screw settings on your drill so play around with the settings and it will make screwing and drilling So Much easier. Also it has clutch settings - collar around the spinning part, set this so when the drill releases so not to strip out the screw head, play with those settings.

I had a similar experience when I pulled my van out of the lot! Went to check my blind spot to get off the feeder onto a Houston, TX highway (absolute nightmare traffic area lol) .... it turned out to be a blind wall and the whole 45-60-minute trip home in the granny lane I was thinking "they gave me 7 days to return it". I quickly figured out how to adjust and use my mirrors to the point now I can back into tight spots without a backup camera or assistance! As far as my build I know I made mistakes or did something an unconventional way but it's mine.... Mine to learn from, love or even regret! I watched a ton of videos from people with all skill sets but doing that brought in a lot of unrealistic perfectionism that really can ruin the project for you or anyone else involved.

I have a bitty suggestion. To the back wall curved seam, that flows with the ceiling...add trim. I think curved trim would look nice. 😊

Hi Emma, very proud of you and the progress you’ve made with the bus. You’ve learnt so much and grown in confidence as the year has gone along. I’ve enjoyed your videos so much watching your wins and struggles with the build. You’ve pushed through and kept going to the point your at now. I hope you’re very proud of yourself because you should be. I really hope you continue your story when you finish the build and start traveling or whatever you decide to do. I stumbled across your videos when it showed up in my recommended videos. I think that was about May 2021 when I started watching and of course going back to watch from the start. Committed fan and admire you for taking on the project and filming your progress. A huge happy 29th birthday 🎂 I will miss your video next week 😢

The screws i had the same issue with. Despite the fact that someone specifically told me to use a "Square bit" instead of Philips screwdriver bit because even though the screws look similar to Philips they are not and the square bit grabs them better. Well, because that what actually fits in them 😂 and then I remembered luckily and the next time I was doing it it was a breeze. So try that next time see what kind of screw you have and you'll see how perfectly the square bit will fit 👍🏻

Hey Emma Congratulations on your 1 year mile stone on building your bus. You should be proud, it’s looking really great 👍👍 it’s easy to see that you put a lot of your heart and time into it. Not to mention you learned so much doing it. Things are just going to get easier for you now. Enjoy your week off and I’m looking to sharing your up and coming project’s in the future. Your ambition from the start to do things thoroughly and learn as you go is really commendable. Struggling or messing up along the way is not failure, giving up or never starting a project of this magnitude would be. A lot of people probably wouldn't make unnecessary comments about you doing things correctly or taking their unwanted criticism if you were a man (even if you were a man doing this with no prior experience). Men always think they know best about "manly" subjects and jump at the opportunity to correct young woman doing a project. Don't let it get to you. For electric just have someone knowledgeable check it over, and don't underestimate how easy wires can fray and start fires. Try to stop them from moving as much as possible and make sure they don't rub against any abrasive surfaces when you're routing them through things.
