In my playthrough Kate jumped, have to say it was devastating. Just one or two wrong choices and she'll go and you feel so stressed because there are no rewinds, and then so guilty afterwards because you couldn't stop it.

Yeah it's hard to save her if you did the wrong things during the course of the game. If you, 1.) Took a photo when David harassed her, 2.) Told her to go to gather proof and 3.) didn't pick up her call, it'll be much harder to save her because you'll have four options when Kate talks about those incidents and only one of those options will be right. But, if you intervened, told her to go to the police and picked up her phone call, it'll be much easier because when she talks about those incidents, you'll have two options and both options will be right.

In my first gameplay she jumped, too. It was so disturbing that I got an older savepoint to undo it, and I usually don't do it.

I remember playing this when the game just came out. Each episode would be out every 2 to 3 months and the more you get into the game, the more interesting it becomes. I really appreciate you talking about being from a working class background and pointing out some of the themes in the game. I relate to what you were saying about your experiences in your home town, the constant threat of gentrification etc, and the barriers folk commonly face in accessing certain types of education or life experiences (particularly in the arts). I’ve watched a few playthroughs over the years and don’t think I’ve heard anyone comment on that aspect of the game. Loving this series, looking forward to more!

17:30 whats funny to me is that many people don’t realize until way later that the actual “game” part of this game is looking at stuff before you continue the story and enter cutscenes/major decisions, in the first episode when a paper ball was thrown at kates face you could have looked at it and seen something. stuff like that. so much content missed 😢

You should talk to more people and slow down some. You really get more out of the game the more you know about the people in it. :) 1) If you don't want to read the journal, at LEAST read the character blurbs! :) 2) No spoiler - but you could have just talked to Courtney again about fashion and she would have had a better conversation with you and given you an invite to the Vortex Club party. 3) The Vortex Club Party that happened right about the time Rachel disappeared is a different party that the the Vortex Club Party where Kate had her events happen. 4) As a movie nerd, I also love Warren! watching this in parts, just want to add that when it gives you the speech bubble after talking to someone it usually means you can rewind and talk to them again with new dialogue using something you learned the first time! so when courtney brought up the dress code you could have gone back to talk to her again using that info.

From the voice acting and script to the perfect music the emotional impact it had on me is still huge even if I'd need a time machine to even remember my 18th. Life is Strange was so not my jam, or so I thought. I went into it based off the high review scores but the first few episodes really didn't grab me. Too much teen angst, emotional, the music etc, it just wasn't for me and my more blokey kind of tastes. But from the Kate bit onwards it really started to get its hooks into me with your choices really mattering and the stakes starting to get raised. By the end I was fully invested in the story and characters. It totally converted me and made me more open minded about trying genres or styles I wasn't interested in. And it was one of the most emotional games I've played. If you enjoyed the first few episodes you are going to love where this story goes!

Ashly Burch who voices Chloe is absolute S tier, later in this game she delivers what is in my opinion one of, if not THE best delivered voice acting scenes in video game history. She also voices Aloy, the main character for Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West, which based on your catalogue I'm guessing may be on your radar at some point down the road.

I remember my first few playthroughs, and Kate jumped in every one of them. I had to search if there was a way to save Kate, and I haven't let her down ever since. I believe, after community feedback, Dontnod eventually added a scene in Episode 4 for people who managed to save Kate.

As for the question of how you could have got into the vortex club, you really only had to look around in the hallway in the scene before you go into the classroom. So it's actually really simple. You just have to take the time to look around a bit and not run past everything. I don't want to sound mean, but I just don't understand people who, on the one hand, celebrate a game, but on the other hand somehow don't have the time to enjoy the game in its entirety.

I will say that the first sign that David isn’t as much of a jerk as he comes off as is during the ending sequence for episode 2. You can see in his body language how he’s standing when he is talking to Joyce that he’s devastated that Kate nearly died on his watch. Even Victoria, who is so mean to people, seems genuinely distraught by the results of her actions.
