The last QB to have a below average arm strength, could run the 5 minute 100 yard dash, won 7 Super Bowls. When QB's like Brady, and Purdy walk into a building, the janitors make things cleaner, the laundry is folded with more precision, everybody in the building believes. The problem with trying to get a lot of yards on every play, is the O-Line gets beat up blocking 4 - 5 seconds, where as like Brady and Purdy, the O-Line only needs to block for 1.5 seconds. When plays add up, that is a major difference as the game moves on. Ultimately what Brady understood more than anybody else in the history of football, is that you only need 10 yards.

Not only are they important TOO, I would argue that they're far MORE important than arm strength and athleticism. Peyton Manning was probably the most awkward and unathletic QB that I've ever seen play at the professional level, and he became one of the greatest QBs to ever do it. How? Through his elite processing and decision-making abilities. Athleticism will only take you so far. Judging by what we've seen time after time after time, I would say the college level. You could have all the athleticism in the world, but without the ability to read, process, and understand what defenses are doing in REAL TIME, it's all for nought. And the fact of the matter is that I truly don't think there's currently a QB in the league who does this better than Purdy!

When making a ranking like this, i would ask myself the question: Which qb's would i replace purdy with, based on how they have performed so far. They'd have to either be just flat out better, or near similar effectivness but maybe upgrade an aspect of the game, or unlock something new/improve something significant to this team. That being said, QB's id rather have on 49ers, Today, instead of brock Purdy would be: Mahomes, let's face it, he's just better.. than everyone. Joe Burrow: He also has those intangibles, but he just seems to be a little more elite. They are similar though, possibly a tie (Age/experience could be a factor here to even it out in a year or two). Lamar: Lamar is a good passer, and just imagine adding Lamar to this offense. CmC, Deeboo AND lamar out the backfield, and kittle over the middle and aiyuk breaking ankles all over the place. Man.. Some others have extreme talents or upsides, but lack the intangibles or ability to deliver when needed. Like Allen, too many turnovers for this team. Herbert: Good talent, very good. But.. "bad team" or not, he can't get it done consistently, and he's no longer very new. TLAW: I liked this guy, and think he will keep improving once he gets a coherent staff, but i don't see us, with out playstyle, win more with him than purdy. Dak? Dak has insane stats, but just like the cowboys as a whole, they totally crush everyone they should beat, but just can't get it done against the real heavyweights. It's like him/they push super hard in the season, and then just burn out week 16+ and can't get anything done when it matters, thats partially on him. Jordan Love? Good stats last year, don't see how he would improve anything on our team. Hurts: Another QB i absolutely loved in the draft, and i am so glad he got to prove everyone wrong. I just wish we would have snagged him back then. As for now, he would be similar to what Lamar would upgrade, but his passing in the medium range, to one side especially, is lacking, so at best a sidegrade i'd say. We call it a tie maybe, some upside, some downside. Has the intangible winner mentality for sure. Stafford: Superstar into injured from game to game, he's always been like that. At this stage in his career. I'd go with Purdy. Rodgers: If he didn't completely fall apart from the achilles injury, which it doesn't look like, i'd say he's still an upgrade over Purdy. But impossible to say at this stage. Last seasons played he's been incredibly good. If not hampered by age+injury, for one year, i'd take him over purdy, but obv not in the long run due to age. So maybe, if we count the ties as higher, it'd be 4 before him, plus rodgers. So rank 5 or 6.But if ties are counted lower, then he'd be #3 not accounting for Rodgers. IMO

Just another example of somebody not accepting reality and focusing on preconceived notions. Purdy doesn't have below average are talent and is already better than a number of the QB's ranked ahead of him, but this PFF analyst just sees a short white guy who was taken with the last pick of the draft. Some people can't be objective and accept what they see instead focusing on athletic traits, size, arm strength, etc. Purdy was top 5 in every meaningful QB stat last season and went to the SB. That's all that matters.
@wcman695 ай бұрын
Another interesting thing is if you look at Purdy's stats for last season they compare with Joe Burrows best seasons and exceed them in YPA, QB rating and QBR. Both have been to a SB and yet Burrow is considered elite and Purdy is in something called the melting pot tier. There is nothing Scientific about these ratings they are simply a biased opinion not built on facts.

Honestly tired of hearing about the “intangibles”. They do matter but this same squad used to talk about Jimmy in similar ways. They always felt like they had a chance to with JG. No team will ever downplay their own QB. With that said Purdy is definitely better than JG & I’d have em anywhere from 7-9th best QB in the league.

This is clearly an overreaction to him being placed 2 in a different list.

Purdy is sooooo clutch. He has no fear when he's out there. Two comeback wins in the biggest spots. Multiple go ahead drives in the super bowl only losing because his o line failed him in historic fashion. He is cool as a MF. Also the "below average arm talent" just killed all their credibility. I think they still think his arm is what it was at the combine.

Brock out played Patrick. 🤫

Brock played better than Pat for most of the Super Bowl. By stats, Brock was the most efficient QB in the NFL, and it's not even close.

Top 2, maybe 3! How is Allen or Burrows better?

Nahh. #1 suits brock fine.

The eye test when Burrow picked apart the 49ers defense. Brock is top 10.

@@HockeyDudeJames2 So the list was made based off head-to-head eye test?? By that logic, Purdy should be at a minimum #8 then, because there are five QBs on this list in front of Brock and he shredded their defenses and beat them head-to-head.

@@HockeyDudeJames2 I didn't know Brock played on defense. Thanks for letting us know.

If Burrow or Allen was your QB. You win the SB.

These are the quarterbacks I think are better than purdy as of right now it can change this upcoming season. Patrick mahomes, Jalen hurts, Jordan love, Jared Goff, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, cj stroud, Justin Herbert, Joe burrow, Matthew stafford. For me that would make him the 11th best quarterback you could make an argument he’s better than like 3 of the 10 guys ahead of him but that’s it honestly.

@fruke2629 I love how Brock has beaten half the QBs on your list, and has whether or not he wins, he has an OPPORTUNITY to add Josh Allen to that list, and a rematch with Mahomes.

It’s ok. After this season they’ll have no choice but to eat crow. Just sit back and enjoy the season, boys and girls.

Chris Simms is ranking him 17th, if I understand correctly.

People can hate all they want and maybe I’m just a fan boy but I’d take purdy over every other nfl qb right now
