That “crazy look” about him? As a U.S. citizen, with fundamentalist Christian relatives in both Oklahoma and Texas, I can tell you, anecdotally, that the “crazy look” is something I can recognize on someone in a crowd and almost unfailingly correctly identify them as a “fundamentalist”…meaning they harshly judge people on Old Testament teachings, believe that cruelty is actually love of all because they are required by their faith to convert everyone to their way of thinking, is practically devoid of any semblance of understanding of the teachings of Jesus and their reasonable meanings…i.e. “love” is not generally associated with cruelty.
@Flippylover_692 жыл бұрын
The look every Texan can identify lmao. It literally got to the point where as kids, my brother and I would watch families outside our local church argue (which was quite frequently) and would be able to correctly identify which family member was a fundamentalist Christian and which one just didn’t want to be there 💀 It was a fucked up game now that I look back on it.
@katherinemcintosh72472 жыл бұрын
@@Flippylover_69 😂🤣😂👏meh…I don’t know if that was a fucked up game. Seems like an interesting one. My sister and I would look around the sanctuary in the Church of Christ my cousins went to, looking for people paying attention to the sermon. We always paid attention to what was being said because, well, at our church thats just what was done, by our family. One of my cousins, as we got older, would use the time in church to paint her fingernails, which we found totally bizarre. I have one cousin who has that crazy look. Not the same family as the ones who went to the Church of Christ. None of that family had that crazy look, but there were plenty of people there who did. And they would speak, in earnest, about Jesus to anyone who would listen. My sister and I used to analyze the sermon after church. We both knew for a fact that when the preacher pointed out that “there are sinners among us,” that he was talking about us, personally, because we were not Christians. We were unbothered by this and found that portion of the sermon never inspired us to become Christians either.😂🤣😂

Going to bible college for a diploma in theology is what led me to finally leave Christianity. Truly learning about the bible and the history is what helped me learn that there aren't "bad apples" in Christianity - Christianity is and always has been fundamentally flawed and bigoted. There can be good Christians but it's very complicated. You have to understand the corruption to seperate yourself from it, in my opinion.
@randysmith54352 жыл бұрын
Hello Emma and listeners! I am from the disunited states of America. I was raised loosely in a poor,baptist, appalachian, family. The judging, shunning, and overall lack of anything close to human empathy I encountered growing up as a child actually caused me to read the bible more than a few times to try to figure out why the Jesus I had been taught of as a child and the Jesus I was taught of as a teenager were so different. The Jesus of my childhood was the one who loved all of the children of the world. If you don't know the rest of the song it goes on to list the races and tell how precious each one is. The message changed in my teens. Suddenly I was a sinner and would burn in hell if I didn't allow the church to symbolically drown me so I could be washed of my sins. ( Whatever those were at 12 or 13 yrs I hadn't even discovered masturbation yet.) As an undiagnosed person with adhd and autism I tended to take things quite literally. I decided to try other religions and read up on several mainstream and even some more esoteric forms of the abrahamic faiths. None offered any proof to me of the existence of a personal deity. My childhood grooming by the baptist faith left me feeling empty without my imaginary friend Jesus there to console me. I'm 53 now and have been going to therapy to help overcome my cognitive biases that were partly my brains fault and partly my fd up childhood. I cannot lie and say it has been easy to disentangle the parasitic effects of organized religion but understanding the human mind and psychology has given me healthier coping mechanisms and insight into why we seem wired to will things to be that have no basis in reality. We can never completely escape religious indoctrination. Nor can we hope to eliminate its harmful effects on neurodiverse children who pay a higher price for not falling in line and questioning religious dogma, or worse, become fanatics ourselves because of black or white thinking patterns and expect others to believe as we do or else. Right now in the US things are pretty bleak looking. Our youth are being crushed and invalidated by old men and women who have reaped the benefits of modern science to live longer healthier lives only to turn around and try to stop the inevitability of change occurring in their overextended lifetimes. If there is one thing I would share with younger people today who are disheartened by the horrible lack of basic human kindness is to get involved in politics and be the change you want to see. It sounds cliche yet not caring to make your basic human rights let alone the rights of all the other species on the planet the most important thing in politics seems just as callow as the openly greedy reacharound buddies who are deciding your fate today with their malice and blind greed. Sorry if that sounded preachy. You need to know your voices matter and carry weight. Thanks to Emma for being a rational voice in a mostly insane world. Be well all!

I did, in fact, hit my breaking point a couple of years ago. I went around stealing yard signs / flags of a certain presidential candidate. I also defaced a number of bumper stickers, right up until I was violently assaulted for doing so. Before *that* I lived in a city with a Confederate soldier monument (one of those ones erected in the 1900s by descendants of those soldiers) and I used to regularly throw coffee on it. I also once defaced that statue with my own blood during a particularly unhinged moment of protest. Nowadays I mostly console myself with videos like yours and with likeminded friends. Stealing & defacing private property is not "cool". It is illegal. Assault is also illegal. You should not, however, be confused as to why you were assaulted, or surprised that it happened. Why should there not be monuments to Confederate war dead? There are monuments to Wehrmacht war dead. Respectful acknowledgement of the suffering and pain of those who gave their lives in war is called "empathy", and not - as you seem to believe - a blanket endorsement of the cause for which they fought. Defacing a public monument with coffee is illegal, gauche, and entirely unproductive. Much like looting and then burning down the homes and businesses of the working classes (of all races and sexualities, no less) because a career criminal drug-addict OD'd, regardless of how black he was.
@horizonblack2 жыл бұрын
@@BobSmith-vo9hv Your argument is morally weak, friend. Nazi bullshit is illegal in Germany. They took down those monuments long ago. Were I black, and my children were playing at a park that glorified a low-life slavery-loving dumbshit, it would be immoral of me to NOT have it removed. Put up a shrine to whatever people you want; nazi, confederate, or otherwise. We will keep tearing them down. A compromise would be to have a national confederate museum where the sculptures were moved to. They could be placed in context right next to the declarations of state defending slavery and next to the personal letters of those men that also defended the practice. The reason this has not been done? People don't want the truth - they hide it under bullshit arguments about knowing history.

I lived in Texas for just shy of a year, and I was shocked and appalled to see that the stereotypes were so often true! Not all Texans, obviously, but it was BAD. People would walk up to me AT WALMART and do things like put their hand to my forehead, the other hand reached out to the sky, and yell for jesus to save me. This was at the very beginning of the pandemic, mind you, so... so much for 4-6ft. My favourite was the lady who put her hand on my shoulder and quietly said god would heal me like he healed her herpes. I don't know why it was such a challenge to leave a stranger alone to buy food. I was also given a 3 day notice to comply or vacate on the grounds that the lease says you can't disturb other residents... something that came out of a paragraph about noise, but I was told in person, by the landlord, that she "wouldn't feel comfortable living next to someone who was holding seances in the next room, either." I laughed because I thought it was a joke. It was not. I literally just like black clothes.

Hi, I liked your comment!..all the way from New Mexico, USA. I appreciated the sentiment, and I actually looked up and learned of the various laws in Belgium from 1981, 2003, 2007, etc. that prohibit the kind of speech on display here. I’m sure you’re quite aware of our 1st amendment to the Constitution, and what a big deal “freedom of speech” is here. However, we have limits to the 1st Amendment protections on speech, and that’s kinda interesting to google if you get a chance. Pertaining to the pastor’s “sermon” clip here, there are laws that would prohibit him inciting violence against folks, for instance. But he can pretty much say all the rank nonsense he wants short of that. However, our 1st Am applies only to the government’s ability to restrict speech, which means we can say however we feel about him. Loudly protesting in drag on the sidewalk outside is totally cool, as well as making any supporters/sponsors painfully aware that he’s not acceptable. And, as Emma said, the property owner his church leases from is perfectly fine to kick him out for whatever reason they like. Anyway, just thought you’d get a kick out of someone so far away seeing your comment and replying. Although we don’t have any hate-speech laws akin to what you have in Belgium, and our 1st Am allows everyone to say pretty much anything, it’s not like there aren’t repercussions. Peace and love from NM USA ✌️❤️

Being AFAB it was super fun. Also eventually realized I was bi and non binary, you can imagine their thoughts on queer and trans folk. Oh, also one of my brother's friends stopped going because they also preached that interracial relationships were sinful and he was a mixed race kid. Lev. was translated wrong billy graham. Refering to pedophilia. "Men shall not molest young boys." Delete or reject the messages sent from the messenger of Malachi 3:1 and you reject Jesus Christ Herself and choose to die with the wicked. Malachi 2 proves Malachi 3:8 is prophetic instruction for the thieving church leaders to bring back the money they were never supposed to take for ministering and God will end Covid. Every major church around the world knew this since August of 2020 but they LOVE MONEY so much they chose to kill everyone with Covid instead of returning it! James 5:2 Rich people are NOT Christians and the wealth they selfishly kept to themselves will only be used as evidence to burn them. The 2 witnesses are righteousness and judgement, not actual people. There is no ONE antichrist; it was made up by people that worship money. Stay out of the fake churches or you will die with them and their lies. In order to be a church, the place must house people inside it. Otherwise it's another private money-making business serving satan and part of Babylon. There is no such thing as rapture. Jesus comes back to rule. God's people are caught up spiritually... Romans is not referring to Eunuchs where one partner is transgender. 🏳️🌈 Eunuchs that are born that way are transgender. It's even in the Bible. Yes, the bible was written by bigoted men and is way outdated and was changed and should be thrown out. But even Jesus spoke about transgender people. Eunuchs made that way by others were abused (it doesn't happen to everyone that is abused). Those that choose to live like Eunuchs FOR THE SAKE OF THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN are bisexual people that choose partners of the same sex characteristics but opposite in regards to gender. Notice, God PREFERS for people to be in LGBT relationships. Eunuchs are same sex couples. One partner is transgender. Transgender is when someone is born with a gender opposite the sex characteristics normally associated with that gender. God made us male or female, determined by gender, located in the brain. Your gender is located in your brain and determined at birth. I have an identical twin sister that is female in gender. I am male in gender. I am Elijah of Malachi 4:5-6 and that means any discrepancies in the bible are ultimately decided by me. Plus, it states in Deuteronomy that nobody was castrated back then. And that doesn't make sense anyhow. No one is born castrated and no one is born making the decision to be celibate. But, that is what God wanted the lying preachers to think so they wouldn't take it out of the bible. Intersex people still have one gender or another because gender is located in your brain. And Acts 3:22-23 says it will come to pass that anyone that fails to listen to me will be utterly destroyed from among the people. So anyone that says different than this won't be here much longer. It's everyone's choice. Anyone teaching the LIE of monetary tithing or getting paid in any way to minister will also die with the wicked. Peter 2:9 says we are ALL ministers . . . . Jesus was transgender and will return as a woman..... Remember, Malachi 3:8-12 is talking to the thieving church leaders. It's the answer to end Covid and every major church around the world has known this since August of 2020 but they LOVE MONEY so much, they INTENTIONALLY CHOSE to kill everyone instead of returning it. My preaching will lead to a universal monthly income for everyone. If church leaders dont repent, they won't be here to see it. Their choice....

I think it might be worth pointing out that sending someone to hell isn't very loving. Hell is what deconverted me.

Homophobic Evangelicals really can change their minds, Josh. I did, and so have a great many others.

I suppose I want very clear based on responses. I know some homophobic evangelicals do change their minds. I did after all. I'm saying that I'm doing the best I can through Facebook which isn't the place to really have those conversations to really change people

I just love in the movie “saved” when crazed high school chick says I am full of Jesus love! As she’s screaming In a fit of rage😂 What a great movie that was!

Hi Emma, I found your videos yesterday, and I really enjoy them, I'm glad you treat scripture with respect, and actually put thought into it and not just say it's all nonsense, I don't think you're going to hell, you show more fruits of the spirit than some of these people who claim to have it all figured out. Please keep doing what you do.

people like this are wild like some say it's "unnatural" when there are species in the wild that show homosexual life

I tried that line if logic on a Christian who told me that my sexuality was unnatural. He pointed out that Jesus cast demons into swine, so animals could be possessed by demons. So there's that. They'll find every way to dismiss any argument against their position.

After spending a life time (49years) being raised by a family full of followers all to happy to follow guys just like this one I may have a little insight. You asked why people can follow person such as this. Like most things in life it's never as simple and as straight forward as it seems. Here is my attempt to distilled it down to a quick answer. the basic reason is Fear. Fear has been so ingrained into them so hard and so deep that they can't even see it themselves. This fear wasn't of their own making. It is learned from the time they are old enough to talk. At a young age they are indoctrinate into a life of fear and hate. Two emotions that go hand in hand. This indoctrination usually starts at home but soon it is push on them in church by what is known as fire and brimstone preachers. Soon they go to school and are taught who to hate by peers). It's always anyone weaker and different than themselves. All of this is unknowing reinforced by a system that is only there to teach the young how to follow orders and not think on there own, which is meant to make them good workers. It does nothing in the long run except to keep the people poor and uneducated. Keep in mind most of the followers of a guy like these haven't left their home town for much more than vacation and then the ones that have are the lucky ones. Many never to journey beyond what they see as the safe border of their home town/neighborhood. It's what they know. As soon as some new thing encroaches on their perceived territory it triggers the fear and hate which leads to hate and it is then proclaimed evil. Why? Because that is what they were taught to do since their first memories. Someone my age who was taught like this has almost no hope of escaping it. I feel lucky that my mind doesn't work the way my family does. Somehow I saw this all for what it was at an early age. I'm not saying stop. Far from it. If you reach just one maybe that will trickle down and reach even more. Education of how wrong this is, is the only hope we have to save a few of these people. People like this guy make that impossible. He knows full well what he is doing and saying. He says what he says to get the followers into his church to fill his coffers. It's about nothing more than putting money into his pocket and making himself feel powerful. He is a snake in the grass using the weak to lift himself up because he is weak.

I can tell the difference between when you say "pasta" and when you say "pastor", but once you mentioned it, it added a whole extra level to this video.

When they venture into politics like this, churches should lose their tax exempt status. Sadly, it won’t happen.

It would be nice and cathartic, but if they do lose tax exempt status then the gloves come totally off

The more you dig into christian/catholic demographic the more hate and terrible people you uncover. The more you dig into atheist demographic the more love, peace and moral people you uncover.

My experience has been, the deeper you dig into any population, the more people of all kinds you find. Almost as though people are just...people.
@erneststyczen70712 жыл бұрын
@@arcadiaberger9204 look up any statistics. Christian communities have higher rates of murder, hate crimes, divorces, teen pregnancy, repeat teen pregnancy, pedophilia, tortures on prisoners ect.. First ones go into hundreds of times the amount of atheist communities. The religious community (in general ofc) is this shown in the video. This man represents this community

Back in the day we called these people Jesus Freaks. I hate to retaliate back at a hate group but… a small bit of me just wants to make up a slur for these kinds of Christian’s.
