It's important to note, Scarlet Witch doesn't create illusions; she creates reality. She willed Vision, her sons, and her version of Westview into existence. It's what makes her so powerful. She couldn't maintain it, but that's only because she had so little control over it. So yes, her children were real. Where they came from and where they went is certainly a question, but for the time they existed in the Hex, they were absolutely real. In fact, if you remember, when they were babies and crying uncontrollably, Wanda attempted to use her magic to get them to stop. But they didn't do what she wanted, just like Vision didn't, because they were products of a magic she didn't even know she had, let alone control. Yeah, it's confusing. It's a power straight from the comics, and pretty much everything from the comics is convoluted and messy. Part of both its frustration and charm. But the series dealt with those powers in probably the best way it could be done.

yup and she did 'create them' technically like every mother so yes, they are her sons (and she did literally birth them in this show too, even if it was magic)

Emme says they’re not real 50 times throughout the episode 😂 They are real to an extent, they were manifested by magic within an enchanted barrier. The barrier is what makes them real although without the enchantment they return to only a concept.

Haha literally had to come to the comments for this exact reason, they were made from magic yes but they were real that had independent thoughts and actions, feelings, ECT

Just for clarification because you said it many times during the episode.... Vision and the kids that Wanda created in the hex were real. Created by magic yes but real none the less. Your next question may be "really, is Wanda that powerful?" and my answer is yes and we haven't even seen her full potential in the MCU

Saying Vision and the boys aren't real is like saying Jarvis isn't real because Tony created him.
@emilysheldon3284
@emilysheldon3284 9 ай бұрын
But Jarvis is AI... not a real person just like vision and the kids aren't real people because they're basically just made out of Wanda's imagination translated into material made with magic. I guess in the sense of Wanda's world they're real, but to the outside world they aren't. Idk it's a confusing topic but I wouldn't say they're "real"

This episode was both excellent and heartbreaking. Scarlet Witch's costume was fantastic. Agatha Harkness vs. Wanda was excellent, as was Hex Vision vs. White Vision. I also enjoyed the Wizard of Oz reference in this episode. It was terrific to see Monica rescuing Billy and Tommy from Director Hayward. Some easter eggs. Wanda gazing under the car and seeing only Agatha's boots directly references Dorothy's house-crushing The Wicked Witch of the East in The Wizard of Oz. The scene in which Wanda, Vision, Billy, and Tommy prepare to battle S.W.O.R.D. and Agatha appears to reference the location in The Incredibles when the Parrs prepare to fight Syndrome and his robots. Monica becomes ethereal and absorbs the bullets' energy when she uses her body to protect Billy and Tommy from Hayward's gunfire. In the comics, she possesses all of these abilities. Wanda manipulates Agatha's mind and memory, just like she did The Avengers in Age of Ultron. Of course, in Agatha's memory, Wanda's magic outline on her head corresponds to her Scarlet Witch costume from the comics. Before we learn that Wanda has set runes on The Hex's walls to prevent Agatha from doing magic, we see her shooting at both the walls and Agatha. Wanda's first encounter with the Scarlet Witch costume is identical to Wanda's vision from Episode 8 when she first came into contact with the Mind Stone. And, aside from Halloween, this is the first time Wanda has worn something resembling Scarlet Witch's costume from the comic books. This is an obvious detail, but I simply had to yell about it. Oz the Great and Powerful is currently showing at the Westview Cinema. You can see it earlier in the episode as well, but this screenshot with Wanda is too fantastic to pass up. I've mentioned it before, but I love how Billy is wearing red pajamas while Tommy is wearing green, an homage to the colors of their superhero suits in the comics. As Wanda's enchantment fades from Westview, you can see that the marquee at the movie theater now reads "Tannhauser Gate," which I think is a reference to Roy's final monologue in Blade Runner. After awakening with Vision's memories, White Vision proclaims, "I am Vision," an homage to Tony Stark's classic "I am Iron Man," which essentially started the entire MCU trip we've been on. Wanda flies up to greet Agatha before she vanishes, and her flick of the wrist is delightfully identical to Agatha's go-to hand gesture when practicing magic. Wanda's creation of a force barrier to protect Vision, Billy, and Tommy from Agatha's powers is a direct reference to one of Scarlet Witch's (many) talents in the comics. When White Vision and Vision fight, White Vision attempts to remove the Mind Stone from Vision's head in the same way Thanos did, but this time Vision phases right through White Vision's hand.

I lost 5 people I loved, my cat, my partner diagnosed with cancer(in remission and still alive), and my aunt dying from lung and brain cancer between 2019 and 2020. All of whom I never got the chance to say goodbye to... so it made me cry like a baby. A very very long and therapeutic cry. I mean I still do, because I'm not good with final goodbyes, even when I get to say them... But still. Wandavision is just as S tier as Loki. Vision and the twins need the Hex to live. Just like regular people need oxgygen to live. Just because they are born and died due to magic doesn't make them "fake". Different doesn't equal fake. I know you aren't doing it intentionally, but when you call Vision and the twins fake or not real, you are denying their agency and making all the brave, hard choices they made sound meaningless.

I really enjoyed how Wanda's Vision, even as his own end approached, tried to prepare her to meet White Vision in the future. He starts by saying, "I have been a voice with no body (Jarvis). A body, but not human (Vision). And now… a memory made real. Who knows what I might be next?" And continues with "We have said goodbye before, so it stands to reason…" prompting Wanda to finish, "We'll say hello again."

Hey, Emme! It's the grand finale and most questions get answered. Wanda has been through DENIAL, ANGER, BARGAINING and DEPRESSION. She's ready for ACCEPTANCE. Here's my take on EPISODE 9: Agatha absorbs Wanda's Hex bolts leaving her hand shriveled as Agatha had done 300 years ago with her coven prompting Wanda to hurl a car at Harkness leaving just her boots peeking out WICKED WITCH OF THE EAST-style! Lol. Agatha confronts Wanda in the town square with the book from her sanctum revealed to be the DARKHOLD! Question RESOLVED. According to the book, the Scarlet Witch is a destroyer of worlds who OUTCLASSES the Sorcerer Supreme! DOTTIE is freed and identifies herself as Sara, a townie! Question RESOLVED. Monica finds a head shot of faux Pietro labeled 'RALPH BOHNER' along with other mail addressed to him! Question RESOLVED. Knowing he's another trapped townie, she sweeps him off his feet, perceives Agatha's purple energy signature emanating from a necklace and removes it freeing him! SWORD arrives to face THE INCREDIBLES! Lol. THE SHIP OF THESEUS: the famous philosophic problem and logic conundrum is beautifully represented by the two Visions. One is rebuilt but devoid of memory, the other is nothing but memory in a conditional form. Neither is the original yet both are derived from the original. Hex Vision unlocks the pathways to White Vision's bypassed memory core reintegrating all the data he possessed up until his death. The knowledge is back but not the soul. White Vision departs to reassess. Wanda traps Agatha in her Agnes persona as punishment and for future consultation. Agatha's last, ominous warning is that Wanda has no clue about what she's unleashed! Wanda takes her faux family home where they tuck the twins into bed. Vision and Wanda watch the receding Hex wall approach and he asks what he is. Wanda states he is the piece of the Mind Stone that exists in her. He is the embodiment of her grief, her hope and her love. Vision sheds a very human tear and waxes philosophic. He was a voice with no body then a non-human body then a memory made real. Who knows what form he'll take next? She cradles his face as he disappears. Troublingly, Wanda MAKES NO APOLOGIES despite her obvious shame. END-CREDIT ONE: As Jimmy and Monica chat, a Fed pulls Monica into the theater for a debrief only to reveal she's a Skrull sent by Fury to recruit her to the SWORD orbital platform, space-based duties and, most likely, Avengers membership. END-CREDIT TWO: In the shadow of MOUNT WUNDAGORE, casually-dressed Wanda drinks tea on the porch of a rustic cottage for any prying eye to see but her astral form, in full Scarlet Witch regalia, is poring through the DARKHOLD. It's Doctor Strange-style multi-tasking that's suddenly interrupted by cries for help from...her twins? How could that be since they were her imaginary creations? Are the twins really calling for her or is this another magical deception? UNANSWERED QUESTIONS: 1. What happened to the beekeeper? We infer he was either incorporated into Westview or ejected like Monica off-screen. 2. Who is Jimmy's missing witness? My guess is Dennis the mailman. "Don't kill me. I'm just the messenger." 3. Who is the aerospace engineer? The obvious guess is Reed Richards in a Fantastic Four tease. 4. Is Wanda magic or mutant? I'm banking on mutant. 5. Why Evan Peters? Seemingly, just for the sake of a meta gag. 6. Where has White Vision gone? Most certainly to be revealed down the line in the adaptation of "Visionquest". 7. How could this not have been on Strange's radar? The biggest mystery of the entire series to be explored in "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness". If you'd like to learn more about Vision and Scarlet Witch's complex comic history now that the series is finished, I strongly encourage you to check out KZbinr James Hancock's primer on "Geekin' with James Hancock". Hancock knows his stuff and the showrunners obviously did their homework!

I really enjoyed the show, at least until this last episode. It just killed it for me. Wanda getting off scott-free, even after mentally and physically torturing people so much they begged for death. Her learning absolutely nothing and running off with the Darkhold. She didn't even really apologize for her actions or tried to make amends. Turning the Fox Quicksilver actor into a dick joke. Also, might be a me forgetting problem, but when exactly did Vision get his memories back to give them to White Vision, didn't he specifically say he can't remember anything before Westview in Episode 6/7? He didn't even know who the Avengers were. I can see both sides for the kids being real/fake argument, but for me she created them through her powers, at best they are comparable to a "clone" raised in a tube. She manifested them, but they shouldn't have existed in the first place, which is why i find Monica's "they never know what you sacrificed for them" so absolutely stupid. If she didn't create something that shouldn't be there, she wouldn't have to give it up. And imo, people that excuse the behavior of the Wanda in this show, need a serious look at their own moral compass. Pretty sure they'd sing a very different tune if someone random came to their house to raise hell with mental and physical pain, because they grieved over the loss of someone close. It's not a get out of jail free card people.

Everything after is just malicous intent to keep her own fantasy world going. But good to know where your moral compass lies. Strange became second fiddle in his own movie, Wanda being what she was, the certain things that happened and the worst punch in cinema ever by America Chavez. What's not to "love".

@@DarkSun123456789 She had control over the hex earlier on in the series, as you pointed out, but she did not know she was hurting people until Agatha revealed it to her in the very last episode, it was not until that point did she know that she was torturing people. This makes all the difference, because she was genuinely unaware of the harm she was causing. There's no debate here. There's even dialogue to get this point across, she said it herself to Agatha, she says specifically that at least she was hurting people *by accident,* Agatha was doing it on purpose. That's the difference. It's ALL of the difference. Intent matters. Once she realizes what it is she's doing to people, she has already decided that she needs to close the hex, and she does. That doesn't negate the harm caused, but it's no different than Tony Stark technically killing her parents - Stark does not condone it, he is unaware of it. It has nothing to do with letting grief out on people, that would require knowing it was hurting people. She did not. Hence why she was extremely horrified when Agatha got them out of their trance. Your analogy does not work. "when exactly did Vision get his memories back to give them to White Vision" He didn't impart his own memories in to white vision, the dialogue again literally tells you. The memories are already in white vision, they're just being kept from him, so he just reveals the memories he already has, to him. Just like how he could get the people of Westview out of their trance with his powers/the mind stone. "which is why i find Monica's "they never know what you sacrificed for them" so absolutely stupid" How is that stupid? Just because she created them in a different way from how normal children are created, doesn't mean it isn't a sacrifice. They were still children with real thoughts and feelings and their bond was real. It's even valid to point out that, people in the real world are pretty much created from nothing. Not the matter itself, but we are nothing without this specific configuration of matter.

I really enjoy Wanda as a character and her story. I feel she gets way too much sympathy in this series. What she went through is awful, but so is what she did to everyone, adult and child, in that town. I dont know you can say Vision and the boys within the Hex were not real. They could have affected anyone in that town in a way that would last outside the Hex. However they could not exist without the Hex. Probably not the best comparison but feels to me they are as real as the bubbles Thanos changed the gun/knife to in Infinity War.

She didn't know she was hurting people until Agatha revealed it to her in the last episode. Done. Argument over. It's no different than when Stark's weapons were being used to hurt people against his knowledge, including Wanda. Sure, he's technically responsible, but had absolutely no idea it was happening and would never condone what happened. Same thing. It's very different from knowingly hurting people, that's what would make someone a villain.

There is more than just malevolent evil. Argument is not over because you think that is the only form of evil. First, Vision tried to tell her something was off, and Wanda would hear NONE of it. Second when was told and the own begged her to set them free she didnt let them leave and then bring back the kids and vision, she started choking them. I said she gets too much sympathy, not that she deserves none. The statement by Maria at the end they dont know what you sacrificed for them... that line disgusts me, what about what all those people sacrificed for her? It is also nothing like Tony Stark. Tony made weapons intending to commit violence. Should he have some culpability for the company selling to both sides? I would say probably some but that is a company with different moving parts compared to one person doing a thing. For this to be the same Tony would have had to say, well even though I know i am hurting American troops I am not ready to give up the income yet. Does not make Wanda seem less, in fact the comparison to tony makes her seem more villainous. @@VColossalV

@@jaredschuster3010 If you don't know you're hurting people then it is not evil, by definition. Tony Stark is not evil because Wanda's parents were killed by one of his missiles, he had no idea it would happen and probably had no knowledge of it, like in the first Iron Man and even in Civil War. The important point is not knowing he's hurting people, like Wanda. But both of them, when they learn what's happening, immediately begin action to prevent what's happening. This is no villain behaviour, and it's not evil. The argument certainly is over, it need not even start, all you need to do is understand intent and why it matters. She did not intend to hurt anyone and immediately took action to stop it once she found out. "Vision tried to tell her something was off, and Wanda would hear NONE of it." She was in denial. She still did not know she was hurting people. When Agatha took her through the moments leading up to the events of WandaVision, she genuinely didn't know what happened or what impact she was having on people. "she started choking them" Again, by accident. She didn't stark choking them on purpose. "The statement by Maria at the end they dont know what you sacrificed for them... that line disgusts me, what about what all those people sacrificed for her? " Sacrifice means willingly giving up something, so that is not the correct word here. She let her family perish so that they could live again, that's why it is a sacrifice. She had to let her family die. This family were real, they weren't imaginary. She chose to do that. Again, not evil and not villain behaviour.

profoundly immoral and wicked. is the definition of evil and I bet those towns folk might not agree with you that Wanda as not at least a little bit evil. You can call it denial you can make any excuse you want but no knowing, and actively trying not to does not remove all responsibility. I dont think Tony is evil and Wanda's initial hatred of him was childish. She should have hated whoever fired the weapon not the person that made it. Oh what harsh sacrifice for Wanda to leave a town in which she totally changed the reality of for all those people just so they could live their lives again. I mean they should probably thank her right? They should be willing to sacrifice their lives and well being so Wanda can have the vision and children she made. It is not like she could have let them leave, which that by itself is fucked up, hey town get out of your homes so I can create my family and world I desire. Nope Wanda didnt know so it doesnt sound evil at all. Intent is not the only concern when it comes to evil. To think so is childish. @@VColossalV

Given that they weren't going to bring in an actually X-Man yet, I still think this was the better choice. Best was it put all the viewers into the same camp as Wanda, believing that somehow this was real. Without that casting, everyone would have assumed Wanda was just stupid.

The fact that they had the hint in the first place is great. I don't understand how this reveal negates the possibility that isn't not a coincidence that she picked him. There's something deeper to it, and certainly when he appears again, and he will, there will be some connection.

She didn't knew what she was doing at first, but when she discovers that, she actually tries to justify herself and say that they were ok, when that's obviously not true. The only time she tries to say they're ok is in the moment, when she is clearly surprised and horrified to learn that they're suffering, that's just a small moment of denial before she actually tries to let them escape. If she was a villain she would be like, I don't give a fuck. That's what a villain would do. If she had any idea that she was hurting people she would not have been surprised when Agatha revealed it to her in the last episode. The kids were real. It's stated in the dialogue that she literally creates things and alters reality. Their existence was tied to the hex, but they were real, and had real thoughts and feelings. Same with vision.

When watching Captain America you make repeated comments that cars. Planes. Etc. we're weak or poorly made. That perception couldn't be more wrong. Well, Emme clearly doesn't agree. You have no clue what you're talking about. Captain America would not tolerate a terrible person as an Avenger, for starters. Civil War was not her fault. She turned against Ultron the second she learned about his ambitions. She *accidentally* took over a town and immediately shut it down once she realized it was torturing people. Literally killed the love of her life to save the universe. Multiverse of Madness is the only example where she genuinely hurts people to get what she wants.
