A Shandy is a 50/50 mix of lager and lemonade. You'd get it either mixed with lemon-flavoured lemonade and beer or orange-flavoured lemonade and beer, so you'd basically pour Sprite or Fanta into your beer. Its a nice drink to have when its hot and you are in need of something refreshing that is not too sweet and of course ain't got that much alcohol in it (normal beer would have below 5% of alcohol, so a Shandy has up to 2,5% of alcohol or less depending on how much lemonade you are using). Btw.: Shandy is what they call it in England, in Germany its called either "Alster" (or "Alsterwasser") or "Radler". "Alster" is more common in the northern part of Germany, whereas "Radler" is more common in the southern part. Oh, and of course I do know about "Gummy Bears" but I've never come across "Gummy Beers"! ... Thats a first for me. (^_^)

A chandy is a beer diluted down with lemonade (often sprite or another clear lemonade). Some people prefer it because it sweetens the beer a lot- in England it's usually offered to people who want a lower alcohol intake (perhaps they are a young person or want to drive that night). :)

Haha it took me a second until I realized you said "Hefeweizen" :D cute! By the way: even though you apologize for your pronunciation in almost every video, you actually pronounce words perfectly! I can only speak for German and a few foreign languages I've encountered, but it seems like you always put thought into saying the words right, and most of the time it works out fine! - These sweets are new to me, I have never seen them before. The lemony taste makes sense to me though: it's common in Germany to drink Radler/Alster (names vary depending on where you are), which is half beer half lemonade. I should send you a package too sometime, but you've already got so much from Germany! I could be evil though and pack it with liquorice.. ;-)

From what I understand, a "Shandy" is when you put Lemonade in Beer. In WI we have a seasonal beer called a "Summer Shandy" from Leinenkugel's, Essentially it's one of their Draft Brews with lemonade mixed in. Woops someone explained a Shandy already before me.

Did you solve the "Welsh mystery" yet? If not ... it should be pronounced "curu", since the "w" counts as a vowel in Welsh (just like y) - hence the apparent absence of vowels in "cwrw"... they are there, we just tend to overlook them. :) That said, I'm German (I just had a lesson or two in Welsh during my master's degree) and I LOVE the concept of Gummibierchen. :D I haven't seen them anywhere but I might need to bring some to my UK friends :)

The welsh one for beer is coo-roo. You say the 'w' as if it's a double 'o'. :D Some people roll their 'r's, but if you can't (like me) it doesn't necessarily matter. The word will sometimes change depending on the welsh sentence too. For example a 'c' can become a 'g' 'ngh' or 'ch' depending on what was said before it. Like 'my beer' would become 'fy nghwrw' or 'the beer' would become 'y gwrw'... if that makes sense? Yeah Welsh is a complicated language, even for those who understand it.

@nanu198010 жыл бұрын
Yes, your japanese pronunciation of "gummy" is almost identical to the german "Gummi", Just the 'u'-sound (the "oo") is very short/abrupt and a bit more open (mostly because it would be harder, to make the sound short and still make it a closed "oo"-sound) ^^

Our packets say "Tear here" in the corner or side and the tops of the bags are kind of zig zagged to make it easier to open. So I guess we just got used to it.
