Yes, they're very similar. Flakes are very common here in the UK, especially in the summer when you get them stuck into a soft serve ice cream in a cone. It's known as a '99' and it's a complete icon from ice cream vans all over! :)

Of course. Unlike the Tunnocks teacake which is a development of the Krembo, not vice verse (Tunnocks added Caramel to it) - The Mekupelet was ment to appeal to British soldiers stationed in the Mandate when it was first produced, in 1935. It was a close product to the flake bar, on purpose.

I like watching these videos because she is trying stuff either that I have tried or that I never will be able to try. And I like to see her reaction and hear her description of how the food tastes. I can eat virtually through her. So it helps me to experience it just like she is. I can taste in my mind while she's tasting it in the video.

lovely video as always. :) just a few notes. Krembo - You were totally right this is not the perfect krembo experience because it's actually not a Krembo, it's a Manbo, the rival and lesser kind of Krembos. Mana Hama - Essentially a hotpot, it's not milky because mash potatoes are usually not made with dairy products in Israel because of Kosher concerns. You had to close the lid while you let it rest. Bissli Pizza - Everyone says that, has nothing to do with pizza, haha :D Tortit - It's considered to be a cheap product but very nice Tapuchips - Lays or Raffles. Kind youve had is Grilled flavored. Taami - Chocolate bar with caramel Mekupelet - Means 'wrinkled' in hebrew FYI (my personal favorite) Shalva - Some people do eat it with milk :)

hey emmy im from israel and youre right, its not the "official" krembo, theres one company that most of the people buy krembos that belongs to that company and they have the best krembos and if u will eat one of their krembos you will sure love it alot better :) i cant believe they got u "shalva" ... poor u. most of the people really dont like it in here! but im happy u enjoyed it :) also, the mana-hama... next time u should taste a different mana-hama, the one with noodles, tastes so much better than what they brought you :)

Niceee! The "krembo" is also sold in the netherlands, belgium and germany all year long
@TheEEStudent10 жыл бұрын
Actually, the version sold in the Netherlands - is the original. The Krembo was first manufactured in Israel by Jewish danish immigrants in the 1940th, as an imitation to the original they knew from home. The Israeli version uses marshmallow while the original used whip-cream, if I'm not mistaken.
@TheEEStudent10 жыл бұрын
Today you have all sorts of chocolate coated marshmallow treats all over the world, since whip-cream simply cannot last without refrigeration.. But yes, the original must have tasted great.
@Hannah_Rachel_and_Kotik3 жыл бұрын
There are 2 schools of thought about Krembos: those who start from the top (correctly) and those who start from the bottom. (Rebels and Weirdos). In any case the cream needs to be fresh and airy inside. If it's sticky, it's stale.

So a Krembo is basically a UK tunnocks teacake! :D
@TheEEStudent10 жыл бұрын
Not exactly: The Tunnocks teacake is basically a Krembo + Caramel :-). The Krembo was already manufactured in Israel in the 1940's, by danish Jewish immigrants. Its interesting to note that it wasn't called "Krembo" in Israel back then. It was called "Cushi". Whitman company changed the name to Krembo in 1960, in order not to offend Black ppl, since some ppl translate the N word to Cushi (even though this translation is flawed and Cushi is not a negative pronoun in Hebrew). Today the Krembo is still produced by Strauss, not by Whitman. But the name remained Krembo.

The piffed honney rice is at least eaten as a sereal in Danmark (but i don't think it has its origin here). One of the brands call them "Guldkorn" (golden grain) and its maskot is called "Honning Monsteret" (the honney monstor) :)
@AyeletMe10 жыл бұрын
Great video! We actually don't eat Shalva with milk.. just plain shalva. The thing about the Torteet and Mashed Potato is that they are both Parva (parve?), meaning no dairy and no meat so they can be eaten at anytime while keeping kosher so Torteet is not great quality, more like a cheap post lunch snack and mashed potato in Israel in general is less creamy and buttery since it's served in lunch, usually next to meat or chicken, so more oily with herbs or mushrooms. The krembo incident was unfortunate but yeah, there's a big debate going on in Israel about the correct way to eat it. :D

True. We in Israel eat snacks that imitate snacks and sweets from other counties for too reasons - 1) A long time ago it was too expansive to import the snacks and sweets so the big food manufacturers started making local versions. Today, when importing is not that expansive we can compare ;) 2) most of your snacks and sweets are not KOSHER.
