Two things amaze me about your videos. First is your incredible memory of treats that you have had in the past from different countries that remind you of the one you are currently trying. Second being I can't watch a video without afterwards heading to the kitchen in search of a snack. :) xoxo

Totally agree with everything you said... I think that Emmy's voice is just at right pitch to subliminally make you want to go get a snack... Not her fault at all.. but it's fun watching her video's.. but yes.. just last night.. I watched two and then I was like.. "I need a snack..." LOL...

One thing ahead. As soon as you eat some other stuff from European countries which say "bio" on them, they actually don't (let's rather say they SHOULDN'T) have any additional flavors or such. So the "Gebrannten Mandeln" are completly free of additional flavors or such
@Dojan511 жыл бұрын
We don't have that branding in Sweden.
@Wilddornrose11 жыл бұрын
Dojan5 Bio means organic.
@Dojan511 жыл бұрын
Wilddornrose I know, but we don't have that branding in Sweden. If we mean organic, we'll list it as "ekologiskt."
@HANABiLOG11 жыл бұрын
Dojan5 I just think that due to Swedens localisation, it's obvious that you guys don't need to even think of artificial aromas, since everything's pretty much organic over there
@Dojan511 жыл бұрын
「HANABiLOG」 Au contraire, the majourity of our foodstuffs and sweets have artificial flavouring, sweeteners and colouring. We're quite similar to the U.S in that regard.

Magenbrot (literally translated: «stomach bread») is fun fair food. They sell it at stalls with sugared almonds. The «original»(?) Meringues are sold in Meiringen, which is close to the waterfall where sherlock Holmes gets killed in the last book. The village maybe isn't much to write home about, but they surrounding mountains are gorgeous and they got a statue of Sherlock Holmes in the center of town. Vermicelles is wonderful, and you typically eat it as a dessert in a bowl with lots of cream and meringues. They also sell these little tarts in the Fall, made out of a pie crust, filled with custard and topped with Vermicelles and cream. It looks like a heap of sweet brown spaghetti. «Sport Mint« have the «sport» tag because of the high dextrose content, which is supposed to power you up. There are lots and lots of regional delicacies in small Switzerland, and depending on where the person that is sending you a package lives, the content may vary. Maybe one day you'll get a package from someone who lives in the Swiss-French, the Swiss-Italian or the Rumantsch part.

Thanks so much for all of the details. I love how closely food is tied to its geography - fascinating.

Sugared and spiced nuts (usually almonds and pecans) are also fair food in the US. In Texas we have a convenience store (Buc-ees) that also sells them. They come in the cones Emmy likes so much. :-)

Love your comments on Swiss food! For me as Swiss, it's funny to see someone being surprised by something everyday to us :D Personally, I love the "Magenbrot" and the "Gebrannte Mandeln". You can always find it on a "Chilbi" which is a street festival with roller coasters and stuff like that. The sausages and cheese many people eat all the time for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Mostly it is eaten with bread.
@kimmeeCheah11 жыл бұрын
There are Chinese type dried sausages same like the ones you ate. It is smoked, linked and with a skin. What I do with that or what most Chinese people do is slice it up, and cook in fried rice. Also can stir fry it with different vegetables, meats, garlic and ginger. I do recommend it in fried rice.

hahah that's so funny. in switzerland there are two big food shops which are competing. and the people either go to one or to the other one. they're called coop and migros. The products from the first video were all from migros, the products from the second are from coop, and the products from the third are again from migros. that's so weird haha:p (even though coop is better and has better chocolate)
@tammyh.7018 жыл бұрын
and thats exactly why coop is better. They buy the stuff that people like the most. Migros produces everything itself. Frey is a partner of migros who also is managed my migros. And if migros only wanna sell their own shitty stuf then im gonna walk straight to coop

I had a pair of Landjäger with me at all times in my swiss army days. Just grab it and bite. Or you can eat them sort of like you did - scliced. Depending on your preferences with bread, cheese, cornichons, tomatoes... Never got the name Sportmint. I guess it was just 80's marketing and was never renamed because it became so popular.
