These three sisters have guts. They have been swimming upstream for years, playing the rock music they love when other young people just want to listen to the pop music that's on the radio. Kudos to them.
@kevinthetruckdriver3533 жыл бұрын
These girls do listen to pop songs as well. Mostly in the K-Pop genre. When KZbin was fun. Each member on their weekend day videos would tell the fans what they are listening too. Pau is usually out there listening to pop bands I never heard off. Dany is the same way. Ale is a little more grounded with bands more closer to rock bands than pop.

Not for the sake of being picky, truly, but it's not a "break up" song in actuality. It's about a friendship, rather a supposed friendship. It is the first song they've written which was inspired from events in their own lives. (Pau's, specifically) Of course it can be applied to a romantic relationship with ease, and I'm sure the ladies know that.
@robertkrawitz82373 жыл бұрын
Not the first -- When I'm Alone wss written by Dany about being homesick while at Berklee, and Narcisista was targeted at critics who didn't like them singing only in English. There are some others that sound in a similar vein.
@markjames86643 жыл бұрын
These are some of Pau’s best lyrics, I think, partly because she is really writing from emotion, but retrospectively. If in the future someone does break up with Pau, they will definitely get a song for them too.

I like that in songwriting they can tap into a variety of influences but not fall neatly into a sub genre. My favorite part is the bridge, especially where Dany is playing a straight riff but Ale is embellishing it, it is subtle but makes the song more interesting on repeated listens. The Mayday EP is great but also frustrating because I’m convinced they haven’t really shown all they can do yet- a lot of the songs are around two years old and I really want to hear what they are writing now.

I enjoyed your reaction very much! Yes, for me the song has some punky elements… the melody and the vocals of Dany are awesome! You are right, the lyrics to Choke or Evolve are mor „open“ for interpretations… here Pau the drummer wrote about an ended friendship, very personal! Love this song! Thank you, greetings from Germany 👍⚡️🤘
@vanlepthien67683 жыл бұрын
I don't think any of their live sessions have been blocked. There were a couple of instances where the official video for this song was temporarily blocked, and the official video for "Choke" has been blocked occasionally. The band does their best to make sure their songs are accessible to reviewers. Other parties cause problems.

This is one of the very few songs that was borne from personal experience, so that is why it's more literal and leaves less to interpretation than their other songs. I would also prefer a live performance that does have those minor flaws, it puts an exclamation point on the humanness of the music and shows that these young ladies are not machines but still flesh and blood. The flaws are subtle enough not to ruin the experience but noticeable enough that you hear the humanity in the performance. Perfectly imperfect.

In the chorus, I heard some lower backing vocal and Dany's pitch was better, yet nobody but Dany was singing, so I question the "live" label. I think Dany's higher range is better for her, but lacks the punk power. Pau is the bomb - a monster drummer - I can't wait to hear her playing develop in the future. Ale's is a strong, steady bass player, so I liked her high in the mix.
@kfh13 жыл бұрын
I'd say there's some doubling of Dany's vocals going on in the playback mix from these live session recordings, you can definitely hear it, but it was still recorded live, just tweaked a bit for our listening pleasure.

I cannot stress enough how good this reaction is. You give us real insight. I say this because the previous reaction to the same song by a rock singer made me angry. The person used the reaction mainly for promoting herself and claiming her genre of rock is allegedly commercially more promising. This one was the opposite of that.
