My favorite song of all times. Also my favorite version. Dave kills it and Emmy Lou, shes a goddess. Brings a tear to my eye. RIP Nanci.

Such a tribute to Nancy and James. Emmy is legendary in putting together simple but brilliant arrangements with anyone. Such powerful voices that Nancy would be moved. This is peerless.

Geez God, I love this song! I'm sitting here on a cold, snowy pre-Halloween (!) night in CT, singing along with Emmylou and Dave, my Guild 12 string on my knee. Cudos to the extraordinary Nanci Griffitth (and James Hooker and Danny Flowers) for one of the most evocative, tender lyrics and melodies I've ever heard. For once, I wish I was a Texan. Just this once.

Please list everyone who was in that round. I saw it on ACL in the 90s. I recorded it but alas, it's gone after all these years. It was the first time I heard "Bartender". I cried through the whole thing.

Emmylou has an in with God. As she ages she gets more beautiful and her voice does too. And she started off beautiful with a great voice. Possibly the greatest duet singer in the business. Don't mess with Emmylou unless you are prepared to go toe to toe with the Maker.

Lyrics: Gulf Coast Highway He worked the rails He worked the rice fields With their cold dark wells... And when he dies he says he'll catch some blackbird's wing And he will fly away to heaven come some sweet blue bonnet spring she walked through springtime when I was home the days were sweet and our nights were warm the seasons change, and work will come the flowers fade and this old house felt so alone when the work took me away... This is the only place that bluebonnets grow Once a year they...
