I have a baking tip for home bakers that might forget if they added an ingredient or not. I start with all my ingredients on my right and I move them to my left after they are used. That little tip has saved me from some disasters in the past.

Hey! THAT is a really GREAT tip. I do occasionally forget stuff ... especially if I am too concentrated on dancing to the music, rather than mixing my ingredients. 😅
@lisaray94044 ай бұрын
Great idea. The French have thought of this too. It is called mise en place. Mise en place is a French phrase that means "putting in place" or "gathering". In culinary arts, it refers to the organization and preparation of ingredients and equipment before cooking or baking begins.
@irener11112 ай бұрын
@@lisaray9404 yes. I am aware of the term. The part that is helpful here is moving each thing to the other side of the workspace once it is used. It is very difficult to tell if you forgot the baking powder (for example) once the sugar, flour, salt and anything white has been added.
@lisaray94042 ай бұрын
@@irener1111 So happy you know the term. I wasn't sure because you didn't mention it. Unfortunately, moving things around, left to right, front to back, whatever the case may be, simply doesn't work for me. That's why I stick to time-tested and proper cooking/baking techniques. I put each ingredient in it's own container. Before I begin baking, I check to see if I have everything ready. Regardless of what I do, I am thrilled your technique works for you. Best wishes.

Hey Emmy! I enjoyed your vid on the Dubai chocolate bar. Later the algorithm sent me a vid from a South Korea bakery that makes them also. Thought you'd be interested to hear that they don't buy pistachio cream but instead roast raw pistachio nuts then grind them up to the consistency of peanut butter. To that, they add melted white chocolate before blending it with the kataifi. They didn't use tahini at all. The melted white chocolate acted as the thinning agent for the ground pistachios which seems a more suitable item then the more savory tahini.
@lisasallery78604 ай бұрын

Freezing them helps to trap in moisture and when you defrost them, it redistributes so you end up with a cake that's evenly moist. You're also aging the baked good, which intensifies and improves the flavor. I'm a hobby baker and I always try to chill or freeze my cakes ahead of time to improve the texture and flavor.
