the middle button that has (4,5,6,8) is for the thickness of the slice lower the number = thicker the slice In japan, they have a square loaf. and bakeries make 4,5,6, or 8 slices from that same sized loaf so 4 would be a a 1/4 thickness of the whole loaf. 8 would be 1/8 thickness of the whole loaf

We've been using a toaster oven for years. We not only use it for toast, but we use it to bake smaller portions of a variety of foods too. So, not a cheap, $10 toaster, but not $400+ either. I wonder how it would compare, I suspect it's a lot closer to the $10 cheapie, than the high tech, fancy, sexy beast. :)
@tinnagigja3723 Жыл бұрын
Toaster ovens are the best. I had one for thirty years, and it was so good I bought a barely-used vintage one of the same model when the first one finally gave up. I tried finding a newer model but the ones I could afford were of a similar quality to that ten dollar toaster.

Thickness settings, from the manual: Setting 4: 30 mm thick bread Setting 5: 24 mm Setting 6: 20 mm Setting 8: 15 mm The settings range seems counter-intuitive. thinner bread needs a higher number. The thicker bread was set too 'low', and thus had a lot of untoasted margin. The thin sandwich bread needed setting 8, according to the manual. The thicker slice of home-made bread would probably need setting 5, or even 4, if it was over an inch thick.
@mojimoji5368 Жыл бұрын
When you buy sliced bread at supermarkets in Japan, the same size loaf (in the region of 400g) is usually available cut to different thicknesses. So a piece of bread from a 4-slice loaf will be double the thickness of a piece from the 8-slice loaf. This matches the measurements you posted from the manual, too! Seems like Emmy was happy with the outcome anyway though haha
@mojimoji5368 Жыл бұрын

That fancy toaster is like a hybrid between a instant/crock pot to a fancy rice cooker. I can definitively say there is a difference between a normal white slice bread to an artisan bread sour dough/pane di casa etc there is a lot of labour of love that goes into making a loaf of bread.

Instead of using milk and sugar, maybe I'll treat myself and use some sweeten condensed milk.

I believe what Mitsubishi said was: giving that one slice of toast the utmost respect. Also, most Japanese eats one slice of toast at a time most of the time because of the thicker bread, unlike western countries that is used to the word "toast" as a sandwich or 2 or more slices of bread.
@jasonscott6171 Жыл бұрын
The bread thickness is based on the bread you can by in Japan. They cut the same small loaves to varying slice amounts e.g 4 up to 8.

I can recommend the stuff in Bokksu Boutique too, if you've not already bought from there, Emmy - and the longer you buy Bokksu boxes for, the more points you accumulate and the higher up the point scale you go. Very highly recommended! The toast slices look good and so nice and evenly-toasted. The really expensive one sounds really nice, especially as it comes out nice and fluffy too! I bet it would be fab with some nice creamy butter and home-made strawberry jam - or home-produced honey, like yours. How are the bees doing, by the way?
