I feel like the CONCEPT of this appliance is so spot on but the build quality is so lacking. It would be so invaluable for all of the situations you mentioned like studios and dorms. If Zojirushi were to put out a version of this, I would dish out top dollar for that holy grail!

Hi Em. I got a vintage one 20 years ago. It was a sunbeam, from the 50s. It had a hot plate on top, AM radio, and coffee pot. I used it for many years for my coffee and NPR . It was chrome all over and very aret deco. Love from Baja

I did not know such a thing existed until last year, breakfast stations. My boyfriend saw one in a catalog some months ago and was very interested ( so was I ). Now we live where we live, and I thought about getting us one, but could not find good enough reviews that was within price range. Then last month he saw an electric griddle in his niece's cabinet and was in for it. So, I bought one and use that in place of breakfast station. I am still open to breakfast stations, though. The coffee pot part would just basically be tea and hot cocoa, as, neither of us drink coffee. He does not, me, on very rare occasion due to my belly detesting it. I love the concept of breakfast station. Until if I get one, I'm good with my electric griddle.

I used to live in a tiny house and this was my only heating appliance in my kitchen. I made so many different random things in it. Especially, during my cold Pennsylvania mountain winters. It was cheaply made, but I got it really cheap and learned to work around it. Five years later, and I have recently passed it on to a friend in a different tiny space where it is now serving him well .

i used to have a cookbook that was all about how to make meals in a dorm without proper appliances. Pasta in a microwave, rice from an electric kettle. Things like that. Would make for a really interesting series I think.

Unless the dorm room has a communal kitchen I doubt most schools would allow an appliance like this. Considering George Foreman grills, hot plates, toasters, toaster ovens, electronic skillets, space heaters and even electric blankets are typically banned.

This thing is way too big for a dorm, especially when you consider the fact you’ll theoretically need a fridge or something to keep ingredients for cooking. Absolute minimum coffee and bread, though you can keep those out of a fridge. But at that point I ask: what dorm dining hall doesn’t have coffee or a toaster? I have never encountered a single one without either all day every day across multiple universities. If you want coffee in your dorm an electric kettle and a french press are gonna take way less space and are also a lot less likely to get you flagged during your holiday RA inspection (also done across multiple universities according to friends)

This would be great for a studio apartment that has no kitchen, but the implementation is so horrible I was laughing out loud as you worked with it. I had seen this unit in the store and found the construction to be flimsy. I don't know whether it's made by Nostalgia, but one device I've eyed but never tried is a cotton candy maker that turns hard candy into cotton candy. Supposedly it even works with sugar-free hard candy. I'd love it if you tested one of those.

We bought one of these, different brand, on Amazon and had it delivered to our hotel at Disney world last summer and were really happy with it. We had a hot breakfast every morning and were able to get out earlier than if we ate in the restaurant. We also made grilled cheese and used it to heat up leftovers from those times we ate out. The brand we got was very good. I think it was called American or Amerimade?

I had this gadget and loved it. I used the top griddle like once and the bacon grease spilled over the sides and was WAY too messy. But the toaster oven worked perfectly for reheating pizza or toast and since I don’t drink a lot of coffee it was the perfect size pot for me. I loved using it mostly because in my apartment my senior year of college I had almost zero counter space and it allowed me to have a toaster/toaster over/ coffee maker all in one! Now that I’ve got a bit more space on my counter I’ve bought separate gadgets for coffee and toasting (and also I have air fryer now) so I’ve put it away, but it was really great when I needed it!

I do not have the breakfast station, though my boyfriend and I would mutually love one, because the reviews I seen for ones within price range. @@pheart2381 usually when things like this start breaking down it'll be one component, not the entire machine at once. For example, just the hotplate might stop working because of a faulty wire. Or if the hotplate and oven use the same element both of them would stop, but the jug would still go. Or vice versa. Doesn't make it any less annoying though, you'd be left with a microwave sized coffee jug. I like the idea but same as you I'd be too worried about one part breaking to get one. I'd probably rather build a mini shelving unit which would fit a jug, camp stove, and mini oven instead. Then everything is 100% replaceable.

I had a smaller version of this over a decade ago for much less. The build quality was pretty good. The grill top could never get hot enough to cook well or quick enough. The toaster and coffee part was all I ended up using and that usually came out the same time. It finally died after 10 years of daily use.

I think the Armstrong Table Stove from a century ago was probably more practical - it was a small cubical appliance designed for use in a one-room-efficiency or cold-water flat with no kitchen, and could bake a small cake (or poach four eggs), toast a slice of bread, fry bacon, or cook a waffle with an optional waffle iron... All in an appliance about the size of a modern four-slice toaster and since electric outlets were rare at the time it came with an Edison plug that would screw into a lamp socket...

My husband has been bugging me for years to buy this thing. So glad I saw your review. I sent it to him and he said he was glad I didn't buy it. If I lived in a place with no kitchen, I'd buy a ninja foodie with the pressure cooker, a convection oven microwave and a keurig. That would give me darn near a complete kitchen. Able to cook just about anything in not much space. Sure, it's more expensive, but if you buy quality you'll have it a long time. I just bought a turquoise retro looking convection toaster oven from Nostalgia. (The oven in my stove doesn't work so my toaster oven REALLY has to earn it's keep!) It really does take me back to the 60s when I had a "Suzy Homemaker" stove that was turquoise and metal (sharp corners ouch,). It actually would bake a cake! (100 watt bulb) And my corning ware is same blue and white pattern I had back then. It's been fun using it!

Except there isn't a griddle on the top( but in a certain mode it gets smokin hot enough to fry an egg) and there isn't a coffee maker. But yeah it really starts from same base as this 3 in one. It is cute but not nearly as good or sturdy as my old cheapo Black &Decker. But I still like it.

It is actually useful, the toaster part gets used almost everyday. The water boiler gets used often for cocoa and tea, the top has been used twice only because of the capability and the size of things. It is actually a useful tool for the price and does work within its scope and understanding its limits.

I gave my sister a similar item (different brand but I don't remember which) for her fishing camper and she loved it. This was several years ago and I paid around $40. I'm wondering: if one part stops working, do the other 2 stop as well? Because it has to have 3 different heating styles, correct? ETA: ok. You had trouble with the coffee maker part, the rack and the lid. It already started breaking. You can't adjust the temp. The grill plate is weak in terms of temp. It'll be lunch time before you eat breakfast. It's pretty but cheaply made. Thanks for saving me $90.

I imagine it is a pain in the butt to clean. That griddle plate doesn't have much of a lip, so taking it off with any residual liquid/grease would be tricky not to spill. I wonder how long it would take to cook a party pizza, or how hot the water/coffee gets. Certainly fun and great idea for Tiny or non kitchens.

I am so glad that you told us to start with the items that take the longest first. I have watched others and they put everything on at the same time and I’m sure you know that is just not going to work. Being 65 yo. and cooking from a young age it drove me nuts. But for newbie’s they need this information because to be honest some just don’t know and some need reassurance. Btw the others gave this product low scores because of this. The Master Pan was a multi-cooker long ago and so was another device that more closely resembles this one. "North Carolinian Anthony Martin created even earlier example of an all-in-one breakfast cooking mechanism. In 1903 he patented a variation on the lamp-stove which used the heat from a pot of boiling water (used to make a morning cup of coffee or tea) to warm a griddle placed above the device’s spout. Martin wrote that the griddle could be used for “light cooking such as frying eggs, meat, and cooking cereal, vegetables, and the like.”

I think the reason the different elements of the unit don't stay hot enough is because, if they did get pretty hot, running them all at once would overload the circuit and blow a fuse or trip the breaker switch. I'm sure many of you are familiar with the same thing happening in staff room kitchenettes, or possibly your own kitchen at home. In the staff room at my work, we can't run the microwave and the kettle at the same time if they are plugged into the same outlet, as they end up cause the breaker switch to trip. An oven uses a lot of electricity and gets super hot, but it uses a special 220 volt outlet. You can't just plug it into any outlet in the kitchen. If they made higher quality version of this 3-in-1 breakffast station, and the elements got hot enough to cook things quickly, a machine like that would require that higher voltage outlet, just like the oven.

One of my favorite vintage kitchen gadgets is the Foley fork. The older the better. We used it for mixing and stirring and mashing. Batter, potatoes, whatever you were cooking in pots and pans. We didn't have non stick pans in the old days and we'd use the Foley fork to stir food in them. We considered the fork very versatile in use. Made mashed potatoes nicely without lumps which normal masher would leave behind. I used to use it for cutting shortening or butter into flour with pie dough. Perfect for that. Would love to see you try one and see how you like it.

I actually have an original in the kitchen things I inherited from my mother-in-law. I have no idea how to use it, but you definitely just gave some ideas. I think my mother-in-law got it as wedding present when she got married. Or she bought it at some point when they were popular? No idea, and she’s not saying anything about now either. There were dozens of makes of these "Egg McMuffin Makers" before microwaves were small and cheap enough for students and home starters. But, the "grill" was more of a warming tray after you cooked in the oven, to keep things at temperature until you were ready to assemble your breakfast sandwich. Also, the temperature dial should have a high setting like broil for constant heat. Some of these devices had a delay timer to wake you with breakfast.

Other than the coffee, I still would prefer a good old well seasoned cast iron skillet. I had looked for one of these cookers in thrift shops but one or more of the pieces were missing.

Its a HIGH RISK to buy electronic devices because if it doesn't perform well it can be a HUGE WASTE of MONEY!!!! At least when Emmy tries a new dish, she at least consumes it and gets nutrition & energy so it doesn't go to waste. But what can you do with gadgets, electronics, devices & appliances when they are bad? Thank You Emmy for making these types of videos despite the risks you're taking. Helps us alot.

I slow fry my bacon allows the fat to render out and adds more flavour to the bacon and you end up with perfect bacon..... Takes time but is amazing. Throw in some cherry Tom's to lightly colour mmmmmmmm

A friend had one of these and gave it to me when they moved. It actually brews fairly good drip coffee, the toaster over works great. I really haven't felt like trying the griddle though.

This looks like a great idea for campers, small little boaters*, festival goers, collage dorm people, and here in Ireland, people living in hotels**. Actually I think it would be a terrible idea for tiny boaters, because the waves will make the hot plate grill's fat and oils go everywhere. *It became too expensive for construction companies to make enough houses to meet demand, so the government paid for families to stay in hotels as a stop gap measure...which then turned into a long term accommodation, because the costs to build things didn't lower enough. I only included that last part because without context, people wouldn't understand what I meant by people living in hotels. Also our new Ukrainian refugees coming into the country. We all love them, because Ireland has a long history of Eastern Europeans setting a very good reputation as hard working, nice people. It's just the vast numbers of people coming in. Anything like this would be a great help in trying to cope with the sheer amount of people that need help. No decent person wants to turn these people away, because of the good reputation that Eastern Europeans have as I have mentioned. They have been some of the nicest, hard working, friendly people I've ever met. Them, and the African-Irish Christian population. Love em from the bottom of my heart.

They did use to sell these 3 in 1 breakfast makers back in the 80's and 90's so that's probably what makes them nostalgic. As to using it in a dorm room, most residences don't allow any food appliances except perhaps a coffee maker but that's a gray zone, hence you typically use an iron to cook in a dorm.

I have one I got from a thrift for $10! :P That was actually like 4 years ago and I still use it. The cleanup is pretty easy. I don't have any issues keeping mine clean at all since the parts you'd need to clean are all removable

I have been wanting one of these ever since I first saw the ad on FB forever ago. When I read the reviews saying it didn't work very well, I was kind of discouraged. Seeing you try the actual thingy out was much more informative than the reviews. I still want one, but only if another company made a better quality version. Hi Emmy! They did used to have different multicookers, with coffee maker. They would be heavy. I remember seeing them in antique stores and always thought they should bring the idea back. Nostalgia brand is always a little flimsy and overpriced, IMO. Thanks for reviewing!

From usual restrictions I've seen for dorm rooms, since it's an actual resistive heating device, you couldn't have it in most dorm rooms because it'd be a potential fire hazard.

as far as retro goes, these are a thing that have been around since at least the 80s. I picked up something like this albeit a lot smaller around 2007 and it was great for frying an egg on top while I used the oven to do a grilled cheese.

While temporarily living in a hotel, I bought one! I call it the adult "easy bake oven"! The top grill is a disaster to clean, so I line it with a sheet of nonstick foil. But it is so nice to have extra coffee maker, which works just fine. And a small oven to bake, toast, reheat... It is that grill top, it is just not well coated and the first time I made eggs on it, everything baked on and the coating started to come off with the harsh scrubbing needed to clean it. Best to just cover that with foil. And do not keep pater in the coffee maker, you might forget to switch the setting and get a mess all over LOL, I did it, It was not fun.

I cook the whole package too, put the cooled bacon strips in a Ziploc bag, and put them in the freezer. When I want a BLT, it' takes just 30 seconds to heat up the bacon in the microwave.

if it could legally pull more then 1.8k-2.4k watts or whatever is the limit in the US then it would likely do much better. overseas i'm sure it would do better just because more of the electric heating units can be active at once. for it's cost...you could buy a coffee unit, a pan, a single OR dual electric burner and a entire toaster oven and still be ahead on money. that would enable everything that thing can do but each appliance can pull whatever it needs and the build quality of those things is going to be much higher too.

I bought one back in '16 in advance of a whole kitchen remodel. I lined my buffet with a plastic tablecloth and put several thick plastic cutting boards over that! This unit sat on top of one of those cutting boards(I also had a hot plate on my buffet). Mine was made a whole lot better than this one! I cooked my bacon/sausage in the oven and my eggs on top! It worked perfectly. I didn't have any of the problems she was having (having the lids come off or not fitting correctly...mine were just fine!) It sure worked out great during the kitchen remodel. I would recommend this...but remember...mine was made back in ..at least...2016!

I remember seeing couple of videos of this. Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice if you’re on a down sizing, tiny home or in an RV, this may work. But I think I’ll stick with a version of this with just the coffee maker with toaster. Which, I may stick with cooking my eggs, sausage and bacon on a frying pan or cast iron skillet. Since this is something that not too many people may like or not. Depending on who it’s targeted people is. Since I have a duel toaster and conventional oven that works for heating something here.

Got one for my husband years ago. It was better built but the exact thing. Worked better to. It was good that the parts were hard to remove because he was a truck driver and you don’t want the part flying around in the back of the truck. It wasn’t plastic it was more like tin or something.

I have a similar, cheaper one from another company that I keep on my sailboat. The alcohol stove broke and I haven't had a chance to replace it so this fits perfectly on top of the stove cover. Mine is a DC model made for RV's. Perfect for my overnights in the marina or out on the lake.

In Australia houses are 10amps... so most things like this don't allow you to use more than 2 elements at once coz it's too much power. So assuming it's similar where you are it doesn't surprise me that it doesn't get really hot. I've used really good benchtop ovens with hot plates on top and you can only use one plate / oven or both hot plates at once.

omg!! i had this exact model but in black. despite being very filmsy built mine lasted about 10/12years, i finally had to toss it out back in 2020 when its last working funcion(the coffee machine) stopped working . in my opinion its very resistant my almost caught on fire and still kept working afterwards but if buying one of these make sure to keep mantaining the metal parts, it will rust very quickly if left alone.

Also, it's not a microwave or air fryer, so it's purpose is not to cool anything quickly, but to give convenience for a small apartment or dormitory, and possibly a hotel room when allowed.
