The movie referenced by Anya’s team is What a way to go from 1964. It is a gorgeous film. The woman in the picture is actually a young Shirley MacLaine. She has an amazing sequence where she wears a bunch of iconic outfits and that is one of them. Definitely recommend the film if you love fashion.

Dior's New Look featured tight waists often wrapped by a sash or a belt. Luke's vendetta against belts on current Dior dresses is more than a bit misguided. It's a house signature as much as trimmed tweed is a Chanel signature.

I think he feels it's lazy. A belt can distract from imperfections, fix poor contouring, and add a point of interest to an otherwise boring garment. I think he wishes the actual garment/dress was better instead of throwing a belt on top. Jurnee Smollett was my favorite. The inset picture showed it much fuller which references the mid- fifties and the big petticoats. I would have loved to see that on the red carpet, but I get it she has to sit in a small chair for three hours. Jurnee looks so amazing in those vintage sillouettes. Every outfit she wore in Lovecraft Country was great. I liked the Gillian Anderson look as well, I just didn't think it fitted her in the bust, but I guess there were fit problems in almost every look except for Tracie Ellis Ross who wore it better than the model on the runway.

i love how simplistic and elegant elizabeth olsen’s is. in that sense, her beauty shines through the simple garment and accessories and even the beautifully carved hairstyle which compliments her beauty. i love how it looks like a simple white fabric was just draped over her body yet its so complimenting, mature-looking, natural, and structured. if she wore this to the oscars i feel like her look would get the praise it deserves but the emmys is iconic enough🤍
