BRIT AWARDS 2021 FASHION ROAST (Dua Lipa's CONTROVERSIAL Dress Turns Heads)

The Brit Awards celebrate British music’s biggest accomplishments and hosts a variety of musical performers and artists at its show each year. Major celebrities arrived like Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Harry Styles, Haim, Little Mix wearing some, for the most part, run-of-the-mill styles. I think the reason Taylor chose a custom look rather than something off the rack is because her outfit seems purposely designed as a callback to the co-ord crop top/skirt sets that she wore during the 1989 era. She’s been dropping Easter eggs indicating that 1989 might be the next re-record, and I think she wanted to reflect that in her look.

I don’t think that’s the case. She’s never been that much into fashion and I don’t think she has to be a fashion icon just because she’s a female artist. So many male artists just wear the same tuxedo over and over and nothing happens. She’s at a level when she can just wear whatever she wants and good for her. I love fashion more than most things but not everyone has to be a into it or be a “fashion icon”. I think she looks comfortable and cute and that’s about it.

Luke, I think one of my favorite things about your channel is that you are never personally criticizing the celebrities that are wearing unfortunate clothes - you take it up with the designer or the stylist. Even when it's D&G, you kindly remind us that they're awful and then move on. it's just so refreshing in this industry

the thing with taylor is that she's very grateful to the people that are loyal to her so she's probably never gonna let joseph cassell (her stylist) go and that makes me veeeery sad. but i can't blame everything on him because she plays safe A LOT!!!! her albuns have amazing aesthetics and she could do so much more with her looks and beauty but she just... don't. as a fan i'm just glad that she looks pretty tbh i'm happy that she didn't show up in a questionable stella mccartney red carpet look.

Dua Lipas outfit was actually an ode to Amy Winehouse's look for the 2007 Brit Awards(her dress was Preen), as they are very similar but she just made it her own in such a great way. As a huge Amy fan, this was honestly one of the best examples of how to pay homage to an icon without "copying", or parodying, which can be hard. I honestly love how punk she did make it and how it's unconventional.

I actually think the netting on Dua's dress goes even deeper than just punk rock fishnets. The netting having a contrasting color to the material beneath gives a sort of plaid effect which also ties to punk rock culture as well as Vivienne Westwood's design history.

I feel the exact same way about Taylor’s look, love her to death and she was breathtakingly beautiful, but did Miu Miu even get her measurements? Both the top and the skirt look so misplaced if that’s how you say it. Just doesn’t sit at the right place on her. Also Harry Styles needs to respectfully steer clear from brown tones.
