Freddie does not have to be this open about his personal life, and I think the fact he was helps us remember that any 'celebrity' (which I know Freddie would scoff at being called that) is still a human like all of us, and their children are their worlds. Baseball is literally nothing for him when it compares to his family. I respect this man as such a friendly TV personality, a seemingly great friend and 1st Base hangout, an amazing baseball player and World Series MVP (please randomly play for Boston....please?), but most importantly, he is a family man. I am so sorry for Max's trials, but thank you Freddie for being open about it. I am working towards becoming a father someday soon and your perspective helps me reinforce my idea of nothing comes before family. We love you Freddie!

Guillain-Barre can be very serious and if it’s not caught early can be fatal somewhere around 7-10% of the time. It’s believed that a recent infection or post surgical issue can be the cause of the disease. It is a rapid onset nerve paralysis disease. Something triggers the nerves to start being attacked and a demyelination occurs which can lead to rapid onset paralysis and once the paralysis reaches the lungs, if mechanical ventilation isn’t done quickly the patient can suffocate as a result of the loss of lung function. I’ve known about the condition for many years but I’ve never known anyone who actually has contracted it. I’m so happy for Freddie that his son is on the mend. I absolutely love this man’s heart on the field and off. We would all be blessed to have a friend like Freddie Freeman in our lives. He gives everyone he cares for his heart and soul. That’s a very unique quality to have especially among sports superstars.
