If anyone is confused by how Drago controls the Bewilder beast. The hook that he has is used in real life to "train" elephants. The hit them with it until they have a fear of who ever is holding the hook. So it is likely that Drago did the same with the bewilder beast when it was young, which is why it still listened to him even when it was fully grown.

Still one of the best animated movies of the last few years Also, fun fact, supposedly the VA for Drago had a crazy warm-up technique to get into the character voice, and the directors used the warm-ups for Drago's screaming bits

For Race to the Edge fans, remember in Triple Cross when Viggo said to Hiccup "Hiccup, you have many admirable qualities, but ruthlessness is not one of them. You are too good, too pure, too innocent, which will get you or someone you love killed.". Fast forward to movie two, and Hiccup's lack of ruthlessness, - wanting to change Drago's mind when both his mother and father told him it wasn't possible (not to mention that he committed MASS REGICIDE.) - got his father killed. Foreshadowing? I think yes.

8:55 we actually SEE how the "Lightsaber" was crafted in the netflix series using the slime coating of a monstrous nightmare (the dragon that sets itself on fire) that they produce to have the ability to set themselves on fire, and the pocket of zippleback gas, its pretty neat how these things are all explained in the series, along with some other gadets that we see like the wingsuit, it also goes in depth on a lot of other dragon species, viking tribes, and new enemies, i'd def atleast try to get past a few episodes and decide if you enjoy it, but it does clear up lots of things inbetween the 1st movie and the second one (+ more httyd stuff never hurts)

Again there are 3 animated shows that are set in between Movie 1 and 2. Riders Of Berk/Defenders Of Berk Race To The Edge A lot of worldbuilding was done there. Highly recommended to watch or react.

yup. she writes expletives in the sand she's pretty great. only a few people really understand her fluently - gobber and i believe fishlegs and sometimes hiccup. she also has a purple gronkle which isn't shown in the films

If you haven't seen it already (or long time ago) can you please watch: -Treasure Planet - Atlantis the Lost Empire - El Dorado - Big Hero 6 - The Emperor's New Groove - Rise of the Guardians - Frozen 1,2 (despite the overhype its actually quite good even as an adult, and fyi, the fandom ships Elsa, the main character from Frozen, with Jack Frost from Rise of the Guardians xD i'm not sure if they're even in thr same universe/era, but it seems there's a 3rd Frozen movie coming with a diff. love interest...) - The Incredibles 1,2 - Tangled - Hercules That's all I could think of from the top of my head, thanks anyways!

i would KILL for a race to the edge reaction! i don't think a riders/defenders of berk reaction is needed (it's nowhere near as interesting as rtte, though still really good!), but you should definitely watch it before rtte as it sets up a lot of stuff. references to things like the screaming death, the smothering smokebreaths, speedstingers, stoick's old dragon thornado, and then of course one of the main villains/side characters is a carry-on villain from the riders/defenders series

In the end when you ask if the wise lady elder Gothi speaks, I remembered there is another side short movie called Legend of the Boneknapper Dragon, which was a How to Train Your Dragon short film, I think she tells them a story. I don't recall if she speaks or does some kind of sign language but it's a really cute little side story y'all should check it out. I also haven't deep dived your channel yet but if you haven't watched the tv show yet, Dragons: Race to the Edge 2015-2018, it comes in-between the first two movies chronologically and it had some fun story moments. It kind of builds up to the second movie, you even get to see Hiccup work through inventing his sword and the start of him mapping out the other islands which is what starts off the second movie, I would love to see you guys watch it because I love watching y'all try to guess what happens, right or wrong your enthusiasm makes great content. I know that was a lot, but I hope it helps, enjoy :)

You just have to watch a TV series about dragons, not only because of the awesome connection with the second part and the explanation of some things (like Stoick's dragon and Hiccup's sword) but also because of the plot in principle. They dive deeper into what happened on that 5 year gap between the first film and this. They expand on Hiccup and Astrid's relationship, Hiccup and his dad, as well as flesh out the rest of the gang, and how Berk adapted to living with dragons. You should also watch the Gift of the Night Fury holiday special because the events of that are referenced in the next film. And if you like watching Astrid and Hiccup's relationship develop (since when have they been engaged, for example) then you just won’t be able to stop watching this series))))

If you liked the dragon racing in the beginning of this movie, they have a special episode about how it started titled "Dawn of the Dragon Racers", it's in Netflix. I believe it's the transition between HTTYD 1, (and the first 2 shows), and HTTYD 2 (and Race to the Edge, which is a solid show!)

I love 95% of this movie but I wish the rift between Hiccup and Toothless hadn't been resolved so quickly. I wish they'd explored Hiccup trying to hide his resentment towards Toothless knowing that it's undeserved. They gave it a little time, but overcoming that obstacle could have been so much more of a jumping off point to strengthen their bond.

Just to show you how big Valkas Bewilderbeast is, From what we know Toothless is older than him. (My clues) First Valka said Toothless is hiccups age so about 19/20 And we also know in Race to the edge (Httyd series) Valka found the egg and hatched it So that means Valkas Bewilderbeast couldn’t be older than what 10 years old?
