Very well deserving of the mantle of "Black Dragon" that was previously held by Grandmaster Ron Van Clief. Congratulations Michael Jai White!!! I was completely overwhelmed to see every legendary martial artist attend the ceremony: Grandmaster Ron Van Clief, Don "The Dragon" Wilson, Taimak "The Last Dragon" Guarriello, Cynthia "Lady Dragon" Rothrock, Fred Williamson, etc. Wonderful ceremony!!!

@@TheLastGlow I've been a fan of martial arts because of "The Last Dragon" back in 1985. Much respect to all of the legendary martial artists.

Most of those gentleman on stage are acquaintances with the exception of Ron and Mr. Casell who I know from the middle seventies. A name like that , whether it be in the spirit of comradery or even a fraternal order, cannot really be passed. Ron will always have that because he is Ron. Casell will always be one I looked up to. Cynthia will always be that anomaly . Fred will always be the guy I accidentally bumped into at a southside cleaners. You catch them separately and they are personable but egos often bubble up and get in their way of each other. Taimak should have blossomed but he got caught up. But for the most part, the guys up there represented a sizable traction of Martial arts film popularity in the early seventies with Fred, the self starter, with his early seventies westerns with Durville Martin and American International Pictures backing the blaxploitation era.

Eh.. so much black this and black that. Truth is you guys don’t want to be part of everything, you want your own “sect” you try so hard to segregate yourselves. No mention of Bruce lee here. Of course not. He wasn’t black after all.

He did mention Bruce lee

What? Black martial artists in this country never got their just due in this country. Always marginalized , dismissed as not authentic, until you actually fought one, that's how the word spread, quietly, silently amongst the martial arts community since the mid 1950s with GM. Ron Duncan and GM Musa Powell then in the 1960s with GM Ron Van Cleef, GM Vic Moore, GM Bill McCloud GM Nathaniel McBride GM Steven Muhammad GM Soke Haisen Kaleak GM Saifullah Al Amriykiy I could keep it going. I can also tell you're just some troll who knows nothing abt the real scene, when the first name you throw up is Bruce Lee, who was actually mentioned by the way. Bruce by the way, also initially experienced the same marginalization and dismissal by the racist martial arts establishment of this country as well, until he proved himself in the same way and shut his critics up. Which is kind of what you need to do with you're thinly veiled racism, STFU

People like you, Axel, are intent on bringing your passive aggressive divisive idiotic racism in this space which has never espoused, agreed with, or ever backed down from your ilk. Thank you for showing up so we can demonstrate our solidarity against the purposeful but ignorant malice you espouse. Oh. Btw. It's "Black". Not "black". There's a difference. And if we wanted our own exclusive sect? Why are there more non-Blacks in the crowd than there are Black people? Why are there non-Black Dragons onstage passing the mantle to Michael Jai? Why did Bruce Lee himself give Ron Van Clief the nickname "Black Dragon"? Exactly. There's the door, sir. See yourself to the other side of it...or be shown the other side, whether or not you choose to see it.
