Emotional Resilience Training Is Now Offered Globally

The newest self-reliance course offered by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is now available in 15 languages to better serve a global audience.
“Finding Strength in the Lord: Emotional Resilience” is a 10-week course taught by Latter-day Saint volunteers. Students learn the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ to help strengthen themselves spiritually, as well as healthy coping skills to meet life’s challenges and opportunities.

I was part of the pilot launch of this course in our stake and I highly recommend it to anyone. It will help anyone and everyone to have healthier thinking patterns and better responses to stressful things.

Is this one course to fit everyone or do you have a group specifically for teenagers and young adults so they can have specific help for those age groups? I have two teenage granddaughters ( not in the same family) who could benefit from a teenager/ young adult course such as this with other young people for a support group. Where can I receive more specific information about this?

I think each Stake has a representative who keeps it all organized. If you check in your Tools App under Organizations, there should be a Stake leader for Self Reliance classes and possibly on the Ward level. Or ask your Ministering Sisters or Brothers (Visiting Teachers/ Home Teachers). Or ask the Missionaries if they know who is able to help!

Our daughter has suffered from much anxiety and depression and now as an adult is living and thriving and with her own family. Our other daughter benefited from putting in practice the Real Truth principles, for which Pure Truth are the stepping stone. We hope your teens find the help they need soon, and may we recommend the following which has helped us so much in so many ways... Many teenagers suffer from depression and anxiety, and many are now leaving the church permanently before age 30, about 70 to 75 percent. Since you care for a group for teenagers and young adults, many found chapters 20 and 12 helpful in what now more and more returned missionaries, many sisters and many others are sharing with others: "The Sealed Portion, The Final Testament of Jesus Christ PDF" by Pearl Publishing

I am so happy that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has put this into place. Opening your soul to someone regarding stresses, anxiety, depression etc… can be difficult in the beginning, yet it draws people together when we realize we aren’t the only one with difficulties. I hid from the world and the people in it for years until I began talking with a licensed therapist working at LDS Social Services (I don’t know that organization exists anymore. Being in therapy for over 20 years (because sometimes you just need to talk) has been one of the greatest blessings ever! Priesthood blessings are marvelous, stress-relieving, spirit awakening acts that helped get through my deepest valleys. Never, never, never give up! It’s worth it when our Savior, Jesus Christ, is waiting for you on the mountain 🏔 peak.

True doctrine understood is the pathway to emotional resistance. Learning truth will result in better mental health than talking about mental will improve mental health. Ever notice that the more we "destigmatize" and dare we say glamorize mental disease-- the more we say we should talk about our emotions-- and the more we lie down with head shrinks, the less happy we are? Maybe we need fewer mental health experts and more truth-tellers.
