Thank you, Becca. I didn't even know this course existed. My wife and I took the Personal Finance course within the Self Reliance courses, but haven't participated yet in all the other ones. So again, thank you, and well done! You're an example to us all.

Thankyou for sharing this. It is sorely needed. @Tuvoca thankyou for reminding us of what the scriptural answers are. I know that Jesus Christ is our exemplar for emotional resilience. However as He offers this to us through grace, we can sure bennifit from a class where we can go for our Savior to help thou our unbelief.

I believe we were an "early adopter" group with the Personal Resilience course here in Alberta, Canada. My husband and I served as facilitators, and our biggest takeaway -- besides poignant, powerful reminders of the Saviour's crucial role in our healing -- was that we needed the information, inspiration, and practice provided by the course more than we realized. I encourage everyone to make time for this valuable learning experience.

Faith Hope and Charity. Tools of emotional resilience. Pride is incompatible with Charity and vice versa. Faith gets us going and if it is in Christ it is more powerful than preaching about our own fallible empowerment. And Hope... hope is the antithesis of discouragement and helps us set goals and not stop at discouragement because Hell is two miles long so you might as well go the second mile if you find yourself there. It's the second mile that gives us back our agency over the first, turning compulsion into choice, and even service.

What happened to: "True doctrine, understood, changes attitudes and behavior. The study of the doctrines of the gospel will improve behavior quicker than a study of behavior will improve behavior"? AGAIN: "quicker than a study of behavior will improve behavior!" Could we not then understand this principle to say the study and understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ (not the social justice version thereof), will improve mental health and resilience fast than the study (and talking) about mental health and resistance? And just a sidenote from the secular world: resilience is not brought about by pampering, coddling, or sheltering one from difficulties. Just as research has found that there is strong evidence that shows children who develop in hypoallergenic conditions-- who grow up in hyper-clean homes-- tend to have higher levels of severe allergies. Stop focusing on mental health and rather on facing adversity and difficulties without fear and you will find it miraculous how resilient a person can be. Put all that effort and all of those resources used for these emotional self-reliance courses, into teaching morality and you will find higher returns on people's mental health levels.

Behavior and emotional well being are two different things. Not to mention your attitude is lacking Christlike understanding, mercy and love. Love is an emotion you can learn about by studying the gospel more and then maybe your behavior will change and you won’t write such snide comments and you’ll be more interested in helping others, which is another gospel principle you can learn about. The gospel is preached according to the spiritual level everyone is at. Not everyone knows how to apply the gospel in a way that helps them with their emotions and these emotional resilience classes are tailored to meet their needs, for the weakest of saints.

Can someone please explain to me why the youth of today are such hot house flowers? I honestly do not understand. What on earth are they so stressed about? My father entered World War 2 as a teenager. He fought in Europe in a tank going up against Rommels Panzer divisions. You want stress ? That’s stress. You know what he did ? He sucked it up and he’s the reason why this country and Europe aren’t speaking German to this day. Quit whining, get up , get dressed and go about your day and realize that no one but no one owes you anything.
