I'm so grateful for your content. I work with a few deaf associates, but haven't had the chance to practice signing in quite a while, so I've become a little rusty. This past Sunday I noticed a young man who was deaf/hard of hearing. I signed "hello", and boy, did he smile and open up! I had to let him know I was just learning ASL, and could he please sign slower. He was so accommodating, and lovely. I only understood 25% of what he was signing, but I was able to communicate a little with him, and ask a lot of questions for clarification. It makes me feel good to make someone feel welcome, and not so isolated. And he , being so patient with me, didn't make me feel like an idiot! He even asked how I was learning ASL, and seemed pleasantly surprised when I mentioned your channel. Thanks again!

How would I go about the facial expressions as an autistic person? I’m learning sign because I have non verbal episodes and I need to be able to communicate but I really struggle with facial expressions.

It’s called a closing signal. It means you or them are finished with their thought. You don’t have to do it, it’s optional. It’s just that she uses the closing signal because she finished with her thought or their thought.
